It's a grand exchange....

Hello my dear friends and readers!
My friend Heather sent me this fabulous project zippered bag for our personal 4th of July Patriotic Exchange. Isn't it simply fabulous?!

Personal 4th of July Patriotic Exchange from Heather

Here are some goodies that Heather sent along too....a darling wooden plaque to hang from a peg in my Americana room and look at those sweet Moda charm packs to try my hand at quilting (Heather knows I have a yearning to do that!) and some other patriotic fabrics too! WOW! I love it all :)

Personal 4th of July Patriotic Exchange from Heather goodies included!
I keep thinking....
that I'm going to have more free time since we are on summer break. Well, to date, that's not happening! LOL! Nope. Instead I've integrated my yearly "Mama's Summer School" into our mornings. We are doing reading groups with quizzes, math, writing prompts and our fun "focus" of the summer is The U.S. Constitution as written by our founding fathers. So far we have learned about the Legislative Branch and its intended functions, along with what a Quorum means and what an Amendment is and why the Constitution needed them from time to time. We are learning much about our country's government and the honest to goodness inspiring qualities that each one of our founding father's possessed to author such a document and give birth to our nation.
that's been our summer so far. How's yours going?
Until next time...

Where's Pfeiffer?

Hello Friends!
I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. Nope, instead I've been to paradise. The Pfeiffer Family Truckster left the garage on June 3, 2010 and ventured forth to:

Pfeiffer kids at Florida Welcome Station

we stayed in Palm Coast, Florida which is 20 miles south of St. Augustine. We stayed at Cinnamon Beach in the Hammock Dunes resort. While growing up my family vacationed in St. Augustine each spring. During those years, I fell in love with the area and have gone with my husband once before, and now I got to share it with my kids. It was a GREAT time! We are hoping to return next year! :)))))))))

We had lots of good fun and we got to see many things like....
the ocean and play in it every day:

Katie in the surf

We visited Mama's favorite place and said a rosary:

Mission of Nombre de Dios Mission

Shrine of Our Lady of la Leche

We drank some water from this famous spring and I'm looking years younger already.....

Pfeiffer kids with Ponce de Leon

We wrangled and wrestled us some 'gators at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm....

Hollywood Gater Wrestlers

We met some fine feathered friends in their beautiful plumage....

Mr. Peacock showing off his tail feathers

We visited a beautiful historical landmark....

St. Augustine Lighthouse

We tried to capture a ghost on film during our ghost walk tour....

No ghost sightings tonight....

After all of this....
we were BUSHED!!!!

Plain tuckered out!

We returned home....
last evening after a 14 hour drive starting at 2 a.m. I have found that although I was ready to leave this place 10 days ago, there is nothing like the small comforts of home. Upon my return, I found beautiful blue hydrangeas greeting me in my flower garden, which now are gracing my grandmother's cut glass vase. I discovered a soon to be *new* favorite today during my weekly grocery shopping spree....cappuccino mix from Sam's (only $6.22 and it is a HUGE bunch!). Throw some in a blender with ice and milk and SHAZAM - out comes a lovely iced cappuccino ~ move over Starbucks! All of this adds up to one lovely, lazy Sunday at the Pfeiffer haus while we recuperate from our vacation! :) Whew...tired....

Iced Cappucino and Cute Hydrangeas

BUT before I go....
in case you think I've given up stitching totally ~ hold on to your granny panties (bikinis, hipsters, thongs, what have you) I wear grannies cause I value comfort (ha ha...). Heather and I set up a personal July 4th Exchange and luckily I got to ship mine out prior to leaving on vacation. I made these two items for her:

"Americana Saltbox" Punchneedle
by: Diane Williams of Little House Needleworks
Fibers: DMC
Punched with three strands in called for colors
Finished as: Wallhanging

That one turned out pretty nicely, but I wanted to do another pretty for Heather because she's just a super girl and a great good friend, so I stitched this one up and sent it along too:

By: Lizzie*Kate
Stitched on: 32 ct. ivory using called for colors
Finished as: Floss Tag w/ Rick Rack

In closing....
please know that your sincere words about my daughter Katie's graduation meant a lot to me and to her. Thank you so much! Also, I want you all to know that I am striving to catch up on reading blogs and commenting in general over the next week. My reader says 1000+ (OH MY!) and my anal side is a little twitchy just knowing the number, because I like to read and comment on all my friends and followers blogs too....but I'll get round to yours *real* soon. I also hope to stitch something too. Wouldn't that be amazing? Me, stitching. Yep....great....hope that happens soon too. However, knowing that the lazy days of summer are upon us, I should be able to work some X's into my schedule - fingers crossed!

Until next time....
I'll be keeping my "hands to work and heart to God"!
