2007 was a good year for myself and my family, of course there were losses and gains, trials and smiles, tribulation and jubilation...but all in all, I have again learned many lessons and I am thankful for those. I am thankful for the health of my family, our faith and continued resolve to be a unit.
I have gained many friends through this blogging community and can look back at this same time last year and remember sort of feeling like an outsider looking in, because I was new to blogging, didn't have as much "experience" with finishing, etc. This year, I have gained so many new friendships and feel that I have a place in our community, I'm happy with the finishing I have learned, am eager to learn more and am looking forward to my stitching as never before. I have this blog and your friendship and inspiration to thank for that!
In 2007 I have:
Finished 53 cross stitch projects
Participated in 32 various exchanges
Started participating in a Round Robin Hello Neighbor
Authored 6 Tutorials
Had 55269 people visiting me at this blog
Had 10879 people visiting me at my Tutorial blog: here
Co-founded an exchange board: Fair and Square
Made a whole lot of friends (please look in a mirror here)
In 2008 I hope to:
Do a whole lot of stitching!
Please take a moment to look through my photo albums for my finished projects and what I hope to continue working on....I'm going to be much better in photographing my stitching this year than in the past year and I've uploaded all my WIPs into various groups so that I (and you too) can track my progress.
I will be starting my Dear Diary Sampler on Jan. 1st! I will be starting back up my Cirque de Cercles project too.
I am slowing WAY down on exchanges this year, most of the exchange groups I belong too are closing. That leaves me with Fair and Square and Hello Neighbor. I'm participating in a three way exchange this year with 3 other lovely ladies, that I hope to get to know better, and I hope to stitch and spoil a lot of my friends. I'm open to personal exchanges, but I think I'm going to step way back from other exchanging at least for the time being.
I think I've rambled enough....I won't be back until Jan. 2 with a picture (hopefully) of my Dear Diary Start :)
Until then may your ring in 2008 with health, laughter and safety

Then this is my "autoshipment" from DSL I got my last installment of CCN's cottage houses threadpack series and I added Fear Not by Midsummer Night Designs, I all of a sudden have fallen in love with MND's....I have one waiting in the wings to "start" in the new year...Love them!
Why was I so tired last night you ask? Well feast your eyes on this:
It was my yearly Caramel Corn Extravaganza day! This is what the packages look like individually...the little ornaments were made by my children. They are the Christmas presents for their teachers at school.

First up is dear Mary Kathryn....she was my Stitching Blogger's Birthday/Christmas Club partner this year and I must say the experience was a lovely one for me. I didn't "know" Mary Kathryn, but I got to by reading her blog to determine what she liked for her Birthday last January 31. Lucky for me, I've met a wonderful, spirit filled woman that I so enjoy to hop over to her blog and read her entries...she has amazing decorating, color sense and most of the time, I want to copy all she does...LOL!
This is the "Christmas" part of her package for this year:

Saturday evening at 11:30 p.m. I had just put the finishing touches of wrapping presents when I said to my DH, "Have you got anything for your mother for her birthday?" He promptly replied, "No, when is it?" Which I promptly replied, "Dec. 19." This gave him a completely terror stricken look...wish he'd look like that when it was my birthday......
So anyway, so ensued the beginning of the following pictures, he asked me nicely and I agreed to make his mother something....I treated myself today some lovely tin shelves from Hobby Lobby for my effort to produce this:

Well the reason I'm blogging today is shown in the following pictures:

I've been drooling over this chart for some time and the lovely Jen sent me her pattern since she was finished with her project and also sent along two threads to grow on! :0)
I also received a lovely parcel in the post yesterday, but neglected to take a picture of it all....but sweet Michelle over at Ozark Sew 'n Sews sent me a most lovely Pine Mountain embroidery chart, and 3 skeins of Mori Silk in lovely pastel shades of lavender, spring green and yellow.
Thank you ALL sweet friends for the lovely Random Acts of Kindness! They are much appreciated by me!
Next Up: My CdC!!! Who Hoo!!! I finally got back to stitching it! This is my progress for my week 4 (I'm behind 3 now) but here it is:
Not the most overwhelming of progress I've ever had...but it is looking pretty good....
And finally, I had people personally e-mailing me about my "lightening strike of brilliance" and so I'm going to go ahead and show you this:
Clear as mud? LOL! Anyway I've been inspired by the Heartfelt Friends RR and especially by Lizzy's RR that is working up just SUPERIORLY! You'll have to go check hers out on the blog....anyway.....I have all the Dear Diary Charts by LHN and I was wanting to stitch them, but as I looked at them, they just didn't appeal to me individually....until I saw Lizzy's RR, I'm sad to say they would have gone unstitched....So at approximately 3:00 a.m. Sunday Morning I came up with the above layout and "design" of what I am terming my "Dear Diary Sampler". I'm placing the charts based on their counts and in smattered around the outside will be the Beatitudes that each chart comes with and in the center will be the small block that says "These I hold dear..." and then the wavy lines are a border of flowers/vines and leaves from another LHN chart to give some sort of "frame" around it all.....I've got to ding around with it some more...but there it is in my own handwriting....I tell you I was calculating and writing so fast....it was probably most funny to watch, but sadly no one was awake to witness the genius! LOL!
So what do you think?! I'm interested to know! I'll get to start at the first of the year.
I'm stitching it on a 1/2 yard of Sugared Coffee Sassy's Fabby that just happened to get in the mail the week before as you all know! So.....there you have it!

Well I've done quite a bit of stitching but of course it's all secret so I can't show you anything...but I do believe I'm going to work on my CdC today...have you all noticed that I had not been working on it?! I was on a roll with it and then Thanksgiving hit on the day that I "normally" stitched it and I didn't stitch on it that week, then the next week I was behind on exchanges, then the next week I was still behind on exchanges and this week....well I think I'm going to pull it out. Everything that has a true deadline is out the door...so I think I'll take today for myself.
Thanks for all the well wishes about my non-sleep Saturday night...I'm happy to report that I had been up 45 hours straight..... and wow! What I got done. I'm going to share with you my "goals" then some other day, I'm going to share with you my lightning bolt of "sheer genious" I had that evening. I've charted up my "idea" and pulled my threads and got my fabric , and I'm going to start to make my "idea" come to fruition on the first of the year! :) Maybe I'll share my plans before the 1st of January...time will tell! It's gonna be a delightful LARGE project!
Alrighty my goals for 2008 are:
1.) Slow down on exchanging...I'm still going to be an active participant, I'm just not signing up for every exchange that opens...I participated in 30 exchanges this year...not to mention the stress that this sometimes can add to your life (deadlines) it also adds a whole (huge) expense. So that is one "goal" to still exchange because I love it, just to be more selective of the ones I participate in.
2.) To do a Christmas ornament each month *yeah we'll see about that*
3.) To finish Easter Parade (that has been languishing untouched in my trunk since April 2006)
4.) To finish Home of a Needleworker (that has been languishing untouched in my trunk since sometime this fall in my trunk)
5.) To Continue working on the Village of Hawk Run Hallow (not touched since March 2006)
6.) To begin working on Peaceful Paradise by Midsummer Night Designs
7.) To continue with the Snowbird SAL and finish Cirque de Cercles
8.) To continue work on My Hometown by Carriage House Samplings
9.) To begin this new "brilliant idea" I had during my insomnia
10.) To stitch as many pinkeeps and smalls as I can as I have time to work in my stitching rotation. Designs include LHN fruit packs, scripture packs and CCN's cottages.
11.) TO HAVE FUN!!!
There you go friends...my humble goals for 2008.
One final last note.....did you see Diane William's design in the NEW Just Cross Stitch Mag??? MUST do for me! it is CUTE!
Alrighty then, that's it...today is laundry day....OH JOY! and It's 6:52 a.m. right now...so I need to bust a move and get downstairs to start sorting and start some dirty clothes. So ensues the day.....

She loved ice cream fudge bars....she was just 22 mos. old here and the ruler of all...little did she know that in two short months time, she'd have her solo place uprooted by a bunch of upstarts! :)
Here she is today, my pride and my joy. Dearest Katie, you are our special one, our first baby brought home from the hospital. You shine like the brightest of stars and bring light to our days. We love you with all our hearts! Happy 10th Birthday!

Hope your weekend is going good....I'm having insomnia tonight so here I am at 2:45 a.m. up for the day....hope I can make it through work today :(
Well on to the stitching. I've been stitching again and sweet Sharon let me know that she received my Autumn Exchange for the Seasonal Exchangers group. I had previously asked Sharon what finish I did that she'd like and tin was one of them. So....here's what I did for her:

Designer: Little House Needleworks ~ Diane Wililams
Taken from: Just Cross Stitch Ornaments 2007 Special Ornament Issue
Fibers: DMC as called for
Fabric: 28 ct. Smoky Blue Opalescent Silkweaver
Finished as Pinkeep Hanging Ornament
I finished a new tutorial the other day...it's in my sidebar under "The Twisted Stitcher Tutorials". It's on how to finish an "Altoid Tin" like I do it.
Alrighty then....well I have to work tomorrow, so this is short....more hours to be with my family and stitch a little before hitting the sack :)
Have a great weekend!

Well the other day, I was approached by Danielle if I would be interested in a trade of patterns and stash...anything to let go of some of my non-used items is great by me. She wanted two of my Tin Patterns, that I know I'll never get around to stitching, so a trade we made :) I said I'd take the fabric and left it at that...thinking I made a good trade and came out on top...well this is what came in the mail to me on Monday:
There was a baggie FULL of DMC (my favorite thread), the two promised fat quarters of Buttermilk and Coffee fabric some carrie's thread and six strand sweets, a cute snowman box with post-its inside and some cute quick to stitch Sanman Originals patterns! WOWZIE! I really was flabbergasted....and if that wasn't enough, she sent a bag FULL of patterns and the sweetest note for My daughter Katie too! Katie is going to post about it this weekend when she's got a little time :) Thank you Danielle! You went above and beyond what was necessary for the trade!!!!
Next Up: My love for Sassy's Fabbys continues. I am totally and absolutely in love with Lauren's fabrics that she creates. I purchased a huge amount of more neutral ornament cuts (6 x 6) and a huge half yard in my favorite colors! Here's the snap:
NEXT UP: I know you all know by now I have a deep and abiding love for anything Little House Needleworks. I dream about Diane's patterns, want to stitch them constantly and just really, absolutely love them! (today apparently I'm having a love affair with the words really and absolutely!) Anyway....here's my latest LHN exclusive....this is the last one that I'm aware of her doing, it is from The Attic in Mesa, AZ:
And here's our town of Bloomington: with the tinsel around it:

Thanks for all the well wishes, the tummy is doing much better. I had a slight case of it this time, maybe it is because I've had the stomach flu so many times in the past 10 years of being a mother that I'm becoming immune to it! LOL!
Anyway on with the show! Today (must to my delight and surprise!) I had a package in my mailbox! Whoot for me :) It was the USEBB ornie exchange *already* (mine's not done yet...shame on me!) from Becky K. She made me a lovely hardanger christmas tree:
