Happy New Year!

~ Greetings and Warm Welcome to you, my friends ~
and a great big

I have just a short and sweet post for you all today...
as I reflect on my life and what direction I want my life to go in this brand new year, I realize that what I want most in the world is kindness. I also realize that kindness begins with me....sort of like the hymn sung in church which speaks to peace on earth and the final refrain is sung, "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me...."
Kindness, happiness, contentment....
all of that begins at ground zero, in your heart, in your home, implementing it in your life is like waves on the ocean....it will roll and roll and roll, spreading wider and further, than your wildest imaginings.
My 2019 goal....
that the waves I'm starting here in my heart and in my home, reaches your shores.

I leave you with this...
a simple poem from a woman I admire greatly. A poem read to us by our priest today at Mass during the feast day of Mary, Mother of God. Fitting for the humble woman who gave forth the savior and fitting for me on this first day of the New Year when I aspire to greater peace, greater humility, greater kindness and a better me.

Prayers in my journal....
Once again with the brand new day on a brand new year, I am starting a brand new prayer journal. I don't forget the prayers in my journal from 2018, I still pray over that journal and those requests, but today I start a new journal and inside it I place requests, names, intentions from anyone that asks for my prayers. As I have done in previous years - I open the pages to you and yours. IF you have an intention, a prayer, a desire or need that you would like me to place in my journal and pray over it during my contemplative and prayer time each day, just drop me a line to my personal email (Please see the mailbox on the right hand side of this blog - it will link to my email). You don't have to go into great detail about the prayer requests you have, if you don't want to, all you have to say is: I request prayer for XXXX...for you know that God knows your needs. I'll write whatever your request is in my prayer journal and then I simply pray. God listens.

Happy New Year my friends...
May your 2019 sparkle like the brightest star and may your little light shine for all the world to see.
Hugs and love in stitches,
Vonna xxxx

  1. Vonna, You are the model of kindness. Your intentions have certainly reached my shores. May the kindness you spread reflect back to you and your family.

  2. What a wonderful aspiration for the new year. I am striving for the same and I love the quote from Mother Teresa. I have so many quotes from her that I love. She truly lived a life for God and she was such an amazing woman who still touches hearts with her wise words.

I hope you have a wonderful new year, Vonna, full of blessings, joy, and all things wonderful! God bless you!

    Blessings - Julie

  3. Vonna! That is my all time favorite quote from Mother Teresa. I have printed it, framed it and given it to my adult children....it says it all and gives us no room for excuses! LOL!
It was a beautiful post and I will pray that your 2019 goals come true.
I did my first 'finishes' of some cross stitch ornaments for Christmas using your tutorial which was great....me not so much! LOL! But I'm sure I'll get better and the ornaments are stitched with love for my grandchildren and so far they love everything I make for them....but they're young! LOL! I wish you and your family the best of everything in the new year...you deserve it! As we like to say....'you're good people' and that doesn't come easy now a days.....blessings to you and yours!

  4. You are such a kind loving lady. I send good wishes for you and your family for 2019.

  5. Vonna: You are such a beautiful Lady not only outside but inside also.
Thank-you for posting this beautiful photo and message from Mother Teresa.

    Happy New Year

  6. Vonna, thank you for sharing that quote from Mother Teresa. I have seen snippets of it before, but not the whole of it. Wishing you and your family much happiness in this new year.

  7. Thank you for sharing those thoughts. We really need to keep them in our minds everyday! I hope you and your family will have a wonderful 2019!

  8. I wish kindness too. Perfect thing to wish for. I love spreading it. I think that's why I liked you the first moment I met you. I could tell we were a lot alike. Big Hugs. Enjoy spreading kindness. You do it well.

  9. Kindness has always been in my heart , and when you look there is still kindness out there . Which is a beautiful thing .

  12. Happy New Year, Vonna!!

  13. Thank you for your kindness and inspiration, Vonna, and for the reminder from Mother Teresa. May peace and joy come to you in 2019 and always.

  14. Vonna,
Many blessings in the New Year. A favorite saying of Saint Teresa of Calcutta is
The fruit of silence is prayer
The fruit of prayer is faith
The fruit of faith is love
The fruit of love is service
The fruit of service is peace

You seem to have these fruits in abundance. I pray you have much peace in 2019.

  15. Vonna, Happy New Year to you and your family.

  16. This post makes my insides warm. Happy New Year my friend!

  17. Vonna you inspire me to be a kinder better human, lots of love and Happy New Year!

  18. Wishing you much happiness in the New Year! Thank you for the joy and wisdom you share on your blog.
