Sweet Freedom....

~ Greetings and Warm Welcome ~
my friends

It's getting close to Fire-cracker time and being that I'm a honorary Yankee Doodle Dandy...
I have a few patriotic themed pretties to share with you today....
VP_LHN Early America

This is from an older leaflet entitled "Something Old, Something New" from Little House Needleworks. I stitched it in the called for colors on 32 ct. raw linen and finished it as a Drum Pinkeep.

Would you like to know how I make my drums? Well then, interested parties may tune in HERE

I also have fell in love at first sight when I saw this sweetie stitched and finished in person at a gathering last winter....so I snapped up the pattern and pulled it out on a recent vacation that my family enjoyed last week. I put the final stitches in last evening and finished it all the way up this afternoon. May I introduce:
 ~ Sweet Freedom Berry ~

VP_Erica Michaels_Sweet Freedom Berry

This one I did up my own way using 32 ct. hand-dyed by ME linen its a soft blue-gray color and so darling with the colors that I chose for my conversion. (You will note if you see the pattern cover photo - that my conversion is a little brighter and a little deeper in tones) I LOVE how it turned out. My conversion may be found HERE

Both were sweet, quick projects that you can stitch up and finish creatively to snuggle in your Patriotic displays!

Until the next time...
have a fabulous, safe, fun 4th of July!!!

Love and hugs in stitches...

  9. Happy 4th you Patriotic Gal!! Could you do a tutorial on finishing a strawberry? I have seen lots of them in my stitching groups but I would like to see how hard they are to finish before I commit to a chart.

  18. Gorgeous projects Vonna - happy 4th of July to you! I have always wondered why it is referred to as 4th of July when Americans write the date July 4th, perhaps I'm wrong?

  23. Hi Vonna - catching up on blog reading. Your strawberry is wonderful ! such a great finish. I love your pin drum finish too. I will definitely watch your tutorial. I tried finishing one once and it was a lopsided failure. Hope your vacation and your 4th was lovely and summer is treating you right ! Mel

  24. Those are beautiful finishes. Now that you are a quilter I would like to add another fabric craft to your list-Scandinavian fabric stars. Moda has a nice tutorial and you can use strips of leftover fabric to make these special ornaments.
