What happened in February 2018...

~ Greetings and Warm Welcome to all ~

What happened in February?....
LIFE
that's what happened. Sometimes life has a way of getting the better of you, doesn't it? The month started out on an upsetting note, and sort of carried throughout the month for me. As a family we had a small, but nonetheless upsetting event. I'm sure many of my long-time readers are aware, but for newer readers - I am a very emotionally sensitive person and when someone in my vicinity is struggling emotionally, I struggle emotionally - particularly if it is a person who has a very strong connection to me. So I had that going on and then had layered on that issues brought to my attention through an acquaintance of mine. I am sure all of you have experienced something similar: you are innocently living life and then someone (out of the blue) tells you that a couple of people are speaking ill about you. So what do you do during times like these? I didn't say or do anything at the time outwardly but on the inside I was hurt and upset, at first. Then as I processed it I remembered to: hold my head high because, those that truly know me, know my heart and know my character. I don't have time for petty, childish, high school drama from people who are old enough to know better. Nope, I don't have time for that.

February also had a few volunteer events that I was in charge of at our church....
Funeral Luncheon to coordinate, plan, set-up, execute and clean-up (always a 3 day investment of time)
Singing the Funeral Mass
Mardi Gras Pancake Supper
Singing Ash Wednesday Mass

Which brings me to Lent...
Struggling emotionally already, I was bound and determined to bring myself out of this emotional "funk" I was in. So I was determined to have the "Best Lent Ever" so I again signed up with Matthew Kelly over at Dynamic Catholic for the "Best Lent Ever" program. This is my 3rd Lent using his series as my main focus for Lent and once again just 11 days in I can tell you he is delivering a powerful punch and helping me to do just what his program says: Live my BEST life. The only thing that pulls me through life is God, without Him, I am nothing.

What else has been going on?
Work, lots and lots of work.
I've stitched 3 models, sadly I cannot share with you the stitching or the finishes. Sorry. You will see them eventually, and when they show up later this spring and summer - just remember I was creating them in February when I couldn't share them with you.
But I can share with you - I know you are here for the stitching - what has flown out of my finishing cave for my clients these last few weeks.
Please note: if I know the designer and the name of the design, I always put it on the photo at the top. If it is not there - I do not know it. I also do not know fabric color or counts - I'm not the stitcher, just the finisher.

All of these done in February and I still have 3 full days....
and lots more packages waiting ;)

Thank you for your patience with me.
Thank you for sharing my life.
Thank you for coming to my little slice of the internet and all the places where I share to support me.
I wish a fantastic week ahead.

Until next time...
I'm going to keep a smile in my heart and one of my face because that sets the tempo for me to march to the beat of my own drum!
Hugs and love in stitches,
Vonna xxxx

  2. I'm glad you're letting the bad things go. I tell myself when I hear things like that that it's not worth getting upset over. Those type of people are not important. The important things in life are God, Family, Health, etc. On another note I just finished binge watching all your floss tube videos. I'm all caught up. I loved them all. You had me laughing at quite a few moments. My DH even like them. I'm now inspired to get my craft room organized so I can do some final finishing.

  3. That is an incredible amount of finishing. Amazing girl. So much pretty to look at.
You are loved and remember there are just those that have to be mean. We live in a fallen world. Don't let them get you down.

  4. It would be wonderful if those who tear others down led more fruitful lives. You, in the meanwhile have been incredibly productive. Your finishes are lovely! Also I appreciate your focus on the spiritual--it is so easy to be distracted.

  5. Not only do I enjoy seeing the various finishes you provide, but it's fun to see what others are stitching! As for the negative, forget about it. God created you to be the sensitive, talented, caring, giving person you are; as long as you're being the you you were created to be, who cares what anyone else thinks! Keep on being your awesome self.

  6. Vonna: Remember YOU are the daughter of the MOST HIGH KING. As I get older, I find that my heart aches for the innocent victims of crimes and sometimes its hard to get over that heaviness. I have to take a break from watching the news to recover. Lots of hugs to you.

  7. What fabulous finishing you shared that flew out of your cave, Vonna! I am sorry that you were hurting and upset by what others said. But I am glad that you didn't let them win and take away your joy. Thinking of you!

  8. Vonna: I wanted to add if you've never listened to Colleen Hammond on youtube - give a listen - she is just delightful and has many answers for situations, even though we probably know the answers ourselves - she gives an objective answer.

  11. So sorry that February was such a difficult month but happy to hear things appear to be turning around for you.

I feel in love with the barn ornament above and just this morning had seen something similar that led me to its identity. It’s Little Red Barn by Little House Needleworks.

  12. Such beautiful finishes Vonna, your customers will be so pleased with them I'm sure. Hold your head high and pray for those who are saying mean things, if you can. They obviously need our prayers.

  13. I will never understand others talking bad about you! I can't even imagine what they would say. Thank you so much for all that you do for this community. I just watched your mounted flatfold tutorial and I think I am going to try that for a future finishing idea! You know I love you.

  14. Well, you did survive and have gotten through a rough February. Just remember that you are loved by so many people and with God, you can do marvelous work! Something happened to me many years ago that just floored me - thought I'd never get through it, but a good friend told me at the time.... "consider the source." Didn't understand it at first, but it means... the other person had many problems and was trying to lash out and disrupt other peoples happiness. God Bless you and your beautiful family!

  15. I so appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and talent. Others jealousy's can make them be very ugly. Your hands must be extra sore from all that stuffing of so many finishes. Someday I hope to be as prolific! XO Kaye

  16. First -- lovely and impressive finishes! Once again everything is so beautiful!

Sorry to hear you have had some challenges this month. I want to pass along this piece of advice which has helped in -- it's none of your business what others think of you. You are a good person, and your true friends (and family) know you are a good person. I know it hurts to hear that others maybe speaking ill of you, but that doesn't change who you are. Keep on being you!!

  17. Congratulations on all the beautiful finishing.. and keep your head high girl .. don't let them get to you, you are far above them, don't let them bring you down to their level ok .... ...also congratulations on the mega blogger award too :) love mouse xxxx

  18. Vonna, You and I both know that there are people in the world that feel the need to put other down to try to build themselves up. They are more than likely envious of the person that you have become and realize that they will never be able to rise to your level so they try to bring you down. All it shows is that they are not worth your time. You cannot allow anyone to steal your sunshine or happiness. You are wonderful and those of us that have gotten to know you thru your platforms appreciate you as a person and the talent that you share with each of us!

  19. Wow, you have been busy! So sorry that you had some rough times, but I'm happy to hear that you're having your "Best Lent Ever".

  20. Dear Vonna - so many finishes and each one so beautiful! I sent you a message because I wanted you to know how much you are appreciated and not to feel low. You are a gift to us all and please remember to be kind and gentle with yourself...don't get too tired or stressed and totally ignore the silliness of other people. You are a bright light so shine, shine, shine!

  21. Vonna: I used to let things like that bother, some people gossip because they are jealous and intimidated by nice and kind people.
You have been one busy Lady, beautiful finish's.

    Blessings

  22. How fabulous your finish is on "stitching forever"! STUNNING! LK is not really my thing, but boy is there a lot of room to play for a creative finisher such as yourself! I'm sorry you had some tough times in the family and some critical, petty reports. Sure is a bad feeling-situation. Sending love to you!

I'm working hard on a decluttering commitment during lent, and also working on being kind and walking in love towards myself. Sometimes, meeting the daily commitment has been a struggle, but I am strengthening myself and my mind and bringing growth and learning into my life by following a commitment instead of a temporary negative feeling.

  23. Your finishes are beautiful. However, looking at them also means that I add to my wishlist of things I would like to stitch :)

  24. Vonna, I'm so sorry February brought you a lot of emotional distress. I, too, am emotionally sensitive, so I am quick to take things very personally. You are so strong in seeing what is happening, though, and figuring out how to rise above, therefore taking away the other's negative power. Good for you! I appreciate your regular "Catholic Sprinklings" as we call it at my church. Always wonderful to have two things I love - my church and my craft - married together. Finally, your fruitful work was gorgeous to look at - you offer such a myriad of finishing ideas. It's candy for the eyes! I hope you have a wonderful week and a better March overall!

  25. Your finishing work is so perfect, creative, and because you care so deeply about the effort of another's hands, the stitching is always showcased, front and center (no finishing pun intended!) to beautiful advantage. Blessings!

  26. It's not always easy to Let Go, Let God. We're human after all and yes, the more emotionally sensitive we are, the easier it is to be hurt. How can people not care? I know when we let them get to us, they relish in the fact that they have won by hurting us. I'll put you on my prayer list for brighter happier days ahead. 2018 has sucker punched me. My 13 yr old dog has battled cancer, had surgery for the 1st tumor, then about three years ago they thought she would only live 1 year or less when 3 tumors appeared in her lymph nodes. God has given me 3 years with her since. In less than a year a new tumor "the beast" developed and is the size of a baseball. Friday the results came back that it is malignant so we now wait to see what course of action, if any, we can do. I pray God will stunt the tumors growth and give us more years with her despite how awful it looks. It looked awful 3 years ago when they said it was inoperable. For the 1st two years she had treatments to lower her calcium level, last year she only had 3. Dr said she was most likely in remission. Now it's come back with a vengeance. The tumors in her lymph nodes they discovered 3 years ago has hardly grown. My knee began hurting in January-still does. My insurance premiums doubled for this year so I had to change to a lesser plan-I'm afraid to even go to the doctor much. He did say it was a ligament, not bone and I know that can take time to heal so I'll wait and see just how long. I love your finishes as usual. I had a lot of LK patterns on my wish list, which my budget is very tight so now I guess I'll clear those off my list. I did order about 3 or 4 that are dog and cat themed I wanted. It's taking me forever to finish stitching my Farmhouse Christmas but that's okay. I keep jumping in the farm's frog pond. I guess when life puts you in the frog pond, you should bag a mess of them and fry up some frog legs. Maybe that will put an end to that! May the rest of 2018 be sparkly to match your personality. God Bless you.

  27. (Psalms 31:24) "Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD." I was reading another blog and I think we should claim this. I'm writing it on a post it note now and on my heart. Just thought I would share.

  28. Vonna you are such a lovely person in all aspects of your life, I’m so happy you share yourself and your skills with all of us. I can’t believe your work, it is just beautiful! I must tell you, I’ve probably been sewing longer than you’ve been on this earth, but your corner technique for pillows has changed my life!!! Just keep doing what you’re doing, you do a great job and don’t let a few others get you down. You are so generous, you set s beautiful example.

  29. Sending you a hug Vonna. You are one of the kindest people I know. So full of life and positivity. You give so much to others. It saddens me that someone would treat you unfairly.
Oh my goodness......so many beautiful finishes. I was drooling over all the pictures. You have been crazy busy in your finishing cave. Each and every one is a treasure for your clients.
Spring is on it's way.......may it fill your heart with joy.

  30. Vonna, you are a wonderful giving and caring person. Sadly, some people just enjoy hurting others. All you can do is be the best person you can be.

Wow! So many fabulous finishes. You are one busy woman.

  31. You have certainly been busy. When I see all of the beautiful finishes I actually worry about your neck, back, hands, shoulder. Can you tell I am a worrier? I am sorry February was a difficult month for you. I hope what initially caused you distress resolves soon and for the better. As for the betrayals, I can only say one thing. Anybody who was buried by work but still made sure I had a pillow for my daughter's birthday is okay by me and will always be okay by me!! Onto March and let's win there!!! (The pillow was a big hit. She called me when she saw you posted it on Instagram)

  32. Vonna: I started to preach to you about this crud again, but everyone else said it all better than I could have. WE LOVE YOU AND YOUR STUFF! So don’t dig your boots into their crap and keep moving forward. More think so well of you than the few jokers who don’t. Majority wins! Hugs Lady. Signed, Your Biggest Fan!

  33. It never ceases to amaze me how petty people can be. I try to just remember, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." That verse helps me a lot. Your finishing is wonderful!!!!

  34. This month has been filled with stress for me too. So weird how it all seems to happen at once. I'm sorry for the stuff you have went through. You sure don't deserve anything negative with all the positive you put into the world. I hope March is much better for both of us. I just LOVE your finishes. Like you are told by so many people haha. You are so extremely talented. Big hugs coming with this message.
