Day 22...

Day 22...
I would like to share with you, the gift I give myself all year long: AUDIBLE
are you a listener? Boy I am. I used to be a HUGE reader. But my husband doesn't like the light on in bed, and I like to read best, right before bed, so that doesn't make for good bed partners :)

Plus...
Let's be honest here peeps, I am no busier than most, but I meet myself coming and going on MOST days. I'm as honest as the day is long and I'm not embellishing how much goes on here in my house on any given day. Plus...if you are my friend on FB, you know that I'm going, going, going like the energizer bunny. My friend Ann says I'm going to drop dead one of these days if I don't take a break. But then Ann doesn't realize, I've been like this for 45 years. God made me this way. I embrace it! Downloading a book and listening while I work, while I drive, while I stitch (you don't know how much stitching you can whiz through by never having your eyes leave your work and just sitting and having a story read to you)...AMAZING!

If you give it a go....
or if you are a member, this book recommended to me by my Sandi! (HI SANDI!)
is excellent! I'm not done yet...but really a good story.

Here is something I don't think I shared before on here.
I finished one just like this earlier this summer for a client. Loved how it turned out and bought the chart and repeated it for a gift for a special family friend.

the design is Lizzie*Kate 2014 Santa and it is still available. Here is the chart picture:

I love how this looks so....I will be re-stitching this and repeating it for ME! and finishing it the very same way for a THREE-PEAT finishing :)

that does it for DAY 22!!

Wahoo!!!

Until Day 23...
I'll be keeping my hands to work..
my heart to God..
while treating my neighbor with kindness and respect,
and trying to be the best me I can be.
It's hard, isn't it?
I may stumble and I may fall, but I pick myself up and I remember:
To thine own self be true...
because...
I want to BE the change I want to SEE.
Join me!

Merry Christmas,
Vonna xxxx

  1. I'm an avid reader too, but still love to hold a book in my hands. I tried books on tape but didn't really care for them. Maybe I should give Audible a try. Lovely stitching and finishing as always!

  3. How exciting to see me mentioned in your blog, thanks Vonna !! I'm glad you are enjoying the book. And I'm reading another book by the same author....A Gift to Remember......and it is a wonderful story too. I love reading......almost as much as I love stitching.
Your ornament finish is beautiful, really changed the look from the pattern picture. Made a simple design into a treasure. You have such talent for how you finish things.......it's a special gift !!
Thanks again for sharing my book recommendation in your blog !!

  5. Love that Santa!
I've tried audible and just can't get on with it, although i would like to be able to. I read most when i go to bed too, so does my husband, who likes to read later than me, then we have the light problem too. Buy your DH an eye mask, i bought myself one last week and now i can go to sleep and my DH can read until whenever he likes :-)

  6. I have always loved reading a lot but since I have also been an avid stitcher my reading sometimes takes a backseat. I have never tried Audible but might do so as long as I'm not able to read and stitch at the same time, lol.
This L*K ornament is a great design but your finishing just made it even better. Gorgeous!

  7. I love your Lizzie Kate Santa and see exactly why you are going to stitch it three times! Your finishing is so perfect for the design too.
I have never tried audio books but I like the idea of being read to while I stitch! Hubby and I both have Kindle Paperwhites which are ideal for reading in bed at night as you can put the screen on a very low backlight which is a lot less annoying than a lamp. They also survive the drop over the side of the bed when we fall asleep while reading!

  9. I love your Lizzie Kate Santa. Lovely. For a while I was getting CDs from the Library to listen to boons while I stitch. I may have to start that again since I don't seem to take the time to read like I use to.

  10. I love my audible books - I have a number of Jane Austen books that I listen to over and over again, and some children's books (The Shoe Books by Noel Streatfeild are wonderful!) that I just love to stitch to! :)

  11. I love the Lizzie Kate finish and the way you finished it really makes it pop. This is one of those cases where the design on the cover of the chart didn't do much for me, but yours made me look at it again. I love to read and have noted your book recommendation.

  15. I'm finally getting caught up on your blog! Tis the season to be super busy! Your Santa ornament is adorable! I love all your finishes. I am a big reader as well but have never tried audio books. I think I'll give it a try now and see how I like it! Have a great day!

  16. I'm SO glad you have showed us this finish. Can't believe I missed this chart last year, but your finish with the red pillow ticking makes it come alive. I often listen to books while stitching - it's the best of both worlds! Thank you for another great post!

  22. Audible is wonderful. I do not have time to read and have switched from reading on the planes to listening to audible and stitching(whoop! whoop!). I listened to a whole series of mysteries that I have liked and read in the past and I am thinking about listening to all the Harry Potters again after I catch up on my library.
I love this finishing. You truly have a gift!
If I don't check in before the holiday, Merry, Merry Christmas to you and yours!! Hugs :)

  25. I don't think I saw this pattern before this post. He's cute and the finishing is perfect. I have used Audible. I have a half hour drive to work and I would use it mainly for then and when I'm on vacation. I usually listen to TV when home and stitching. It's a great invention!

  26. I think that may be one of my favorite finishes of yours, Vonna--I'm glad you'll be re-stitching it for yourself :)

I LOVE audio books--usually only listen in the car to and from my (very short 4 mile) commute to work. They really make the story come to life for me!
