Day 19 and Day 20...

25 Days

DAY 19 and Day 20....
I'm going to cheat folks, forgive me!
I have to work this weekend and I'm going to be honest, I have run myself into the ground, even though I intended not to.
So I'm combining days to give me a night off from writing.
I promise it will be worth it!

Country Cottage Needleworks
"Christmas Cheer"
Ornament from the Classic Collection

CCN Christmas Cheer

I loved this ornament from the very first time I saw it. And it was the inspiration for my
"Christmas Cheer" banister with all the little Elves that I found at Hobby Lobby this fall.
Here's a couple of angles...

The stairs

Living Room Stairs

I also would like to share with you my Lizzie* Kate finishes that I framed.
They turned out sweetly and I asked my husband if I could
PUHLEASE... hang them and he said, as long as you have others to hang there so we don't have holes in the wall. I told him I did...but I'm not sure if I do...
OH well, I'll find something ;)
Or stitch it up fast at the first of the year!

Lizzie Katie Christmas

Friday night...
we hosted a Christmas party with two couples that are our very dearest friends.
I made:
Chicken Gnocchi Soup, bought Olive Garden (unbaked) bread sticks (and baked them at home) and added a salad of my own making with Olive Garden dressing.
For Dessert we had my Angel Food Cake Dessert
Here is my recipe for the soup.
I've made this A LOT for my family and I finally have it down to a science with how much to make. This feeds us one meal and then enough leftovers for all of us to enjoy for lunch the next day.

I HIGHLY recommend a meal like this over the holidays. Its quick and easy and warm and yummy and comforting and just DELICIOUS!

Have a fabulous day 19 and 20!
Love to you all!

 Until DAY 21....
I'll be keeping my hands to work..
my heart to God..
while treating my neighbor with kindness and respect,
and trying to be the best me I can be.
It's hard, isn't it?
I may stumble and I may fall, but I pick myself up and I remember:
To thine own self be true...
because...
I want to BE the change I want to SEE.
Join me!

Merry Christmas,
Vonna xxxx

  11. I will definitely take this recipe to Texas with me!! I'm having such a bizzare Christmas. I lost my husband & my mom last year & my daughter got married just last Saturday! And someone told me Christmas is this week???? So I am not sure which way is up but here is my devotional this morning: Matt 6:34 God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up (wait for it) when the time comes. Don't you love how God meets us exactly where we are "when the time comes?"
Mom & Keith both loved Christmas & they are having the best Christmas EVER in heaven.

Take care of yourself & I'll think of you when we make the soup at my brothers house for New Years as I figure out what starting over looks like. I wonder what God has planned???

    Hugs & Merry Christmas!!!!! Kathy

  13. I have been remiss in commenting. I know (after November) how a little note that lets you know *someone* is reading is so welcome. Your recipe sounds delish! And I like the ornaments and greenery idea for the stairway. I've got a short banister like that. Gets me thinking! :)

  14. Oh, Vonna, you give us so much with your 25 days of Christmas as well as the rest of the year, there certainly isn't a problem with combining some of the days! And you are right, it was worth it. My favorites are the soup recipe and the L*K - they look so nice in that spot that you need something there year 'round, anyway, so I'm sure you'll get those nail holes filled in no time!

  21. Since we are doing the "elf on the shelf" this year, I never thought about how well that ornament would go with the whole month. I will be adding it to my wish list. Your husband sounds just like mine with holes in the wall. I have to do that , or I have used that Velcro on the backs and then that comes off the wall after. But that spot looks like the perfect place for some other framed things. I'm sure you don't have a shortage of pieces to choose from! I'll try your soup after the holidays.

  23. Hi Vonna, I rarely comment, but love lurking and looking at all of your beautiful work and your lovely family. Just two quick comments: first, I can't WAIT to make that soup! It sounds sooooo yummy. And secondly, have you ever used the 3M products, either the sticky backed hangers or the small hooks? That's all I use anymore to hang seasonal stitching, so I never have to put another hole in the wall again! When I take something down, I leave the one velcro-like piece attached to the back of the framed piece, discard the one on the wall, and then just buy new a new pack for wall mounting the next time I want to display.

Your home looks so festive! Many blessings to you and yours!
