Day 23...

~ Greetings and Warm Welcome to ~
Day 23...
Almost there and I've yet to get Ann's present done...
TODAY IS THE DAY! I hope...

Today I have to share with you:

La D Da's
 "Merry Christmas"
found in the 2009 Just Cross Stitch Magazine Special Ornament IssueLa D Da Merry Christmas
I did use the silks called for on the pattern, but obviously the dye lot has changed quite a bit. But no matter...I love it! It is finished with Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe's hand-dyed seam tape in "gingerbread" color. I think it suits perfectly and looks really good on my tree!

Do you know I still have MORE ornaments that I stitched this year and that I don't have enough days to show them in? Ha ha ha! I've been an ornament stitching dynamo this year! So that means I'll have more to show you in the week between Christmas and New Years! Some of you are probably groaning...oh heaven's no no no, please stop! :)

I have another share with you today...
from my dear, sweetest blogging buddy, Marie P. of Creative Thread; we met on exchange boards about 10 years ago...and we've been buddies ever since ;) Sister's of the heart!

I had a package delivered the other day and wasn't expecting anything, I opened it up and found:
Gifts from Marie
Yep, she went and did it again...
stitched me a Prairie Schooler Santa for my tree :)
Marie's Prairie Schooler Santa for my tree
and inside the package I found:

Good Luck Nutcracker from Marie Her dear husband took a recent trip to Germany and Marie had him running all over Germany to get gifts and one of them was me!
Its a tiny little Nutcracker "good luck" ornament that he picked for me!
I cannot tell you how much this meant to me. My husband and I are of German descent...I grew up in a little German Catholic Village here in Indiana named: Haubstadt. I'll be honest, my husband and I are not world travelers. We really aren't even travelers at all. We take our yearly vacation each year and adore it. But honestly, we are happiest being in our own home. There is just so many good things that go on in our home, and it is the hearth and the warmth and the love that makes it ours! Anyhow, this is all to say, I'll never get to Germany in my lifetime, but to know that Marie had her husband pick me up something so meaningful for me...from there...well it had tears in my eyes.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart Marie!

That does it for Day 23...
I'm going to get my fingers stitching Ann's gift. I have GOT to get it done...

Tomorrow...
I'll be showing my large tree in many shots to show off handmade ornaments that I have stitched over a lifetime. Its been a lifetime of love and devotion to this most miraculous season! My favorite holiday!!

Until tomorrow...
I'll be keeping my hands to work and heart to God, just like always!
join me!

Love in stitches,
Vonna xxxx

  13. Pretty Great! My favorite is the gift you received—great finishing in the Santa (I just love PS!) did she make the cord? Also I adore nutcrackers; especially tree-ornament sized ones.

My family is German and Norwegian; my maternal Grandfather's name was actually William Tell! My own name is Norwegian. Like you, I've never been, but I'm thinking I will sometime. :D

That was so very nice of Marie to get you a special Nutcracker ornament straight from Germany, along with another PS Santa for your tree! 17. Ohhhh don't you dare quit sharing your lovely ornaments with us! I could look at them every day of the year. Christmas ornaments are my MOST favorite thing to stitch, and I plan to make 2015 the "year of Christmas". I have nearly 20 already stitched but not "finish finished", but they will have to wait until next year. Let's stitch lots of ornies, okay? Love the PS that Marie stitched for you! LOVE all things Prairie Schooler. Have a wonderful Christmas, dear Vonna. I am so happy to call you friend. Sending you some big ole Texas hugs to you and your precious family. :)

  23. Looking forward to seeing all of your stitched ornaments. I love little nutcracker ornament, Germany is the place for Christmas ornaments. My father's side of the family are all from Germany, my maiden name was Pfeiffer the same spelling as your's. No one could ever pronounce it correctly, always wanted to pronounce it with the pf sound rather then the p being silent.

  26. Just wanted to thank you for your tutorials on finishing ornaments. I have stitched 27 ornaments since October (I'm crazy like that.) but had no clue how I was going to finish them. You saved me! I did felt and fabric backings, and they look really cute. Can't wait to give to my kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. Thank you so much!

  27. I too received a gift of kindness today. Although our vet Dr. Lori Carpenter was booked solid with personal events today she still made time to care for our sick boxer Shorty-Ann. Gifts of kindness come in so many ways. Sometimes in acts and other times in lovely tokens such as a hand stitched ornament and a little nutcracker!

Excited to see the rest of your collection. Such inspiration!

If ever you want something from Germany you just give me a shout out and I will ask Ted to look for it when he is there next. Hopefully, he will be in Germany again next year during the month long Christmas Market and I will have him pick you up another nutcracker ornie! Hugs <3
