On the mend...

Dearest friends....
I am dropping in to let you all know that I did have my surgery yesterday.
I have been sent the most lovely get well wishes, notes, cards, prayers, and I know that many of you have been wondering how I have done.

I did very well...
after 9 months of dealing with severe pelvic pain, my doctor found the source of the problem.
My surgery was to last only 1 hour. However when my doctor got inside, he found it worse than expected. I was in surgery for over 3 hours. It was found that I had severe endometriosis and scar tissue, my ovary was 4x larger than normal and my tube was damaged. He believes that I had a tubal pregnancy early this year and some of the damage was due to that event.

At this time...
I am happy to say, the surgery is behind me, my doctor told Keith that I will be good as new (minus an ovary and tube) as soon as my insides heal. He also told my husband that I was "one tough cookie" and it was apparent that I had endured a lot of pain. I was never given pain medication as all my tests had been negative, so I just endured. (Barely here the last couple of months...)

All of you have been so kind...
wishing me well and praying. You all deserved to know. I felt all of your prayers and love and good wishes yesterday as I lay awaiting my surgery.

Top of my list is just to...
rest, relax and heal! I'm letting my husband take good care of me!
and to be honest I am using his undivided attention to my FULL advantage ;)

Besides...
from a really sore throat from my extended intubation yesterday, a big bloated tummy from the laprascopy and some minor pain, I am in really good shape. I AM enjoying my pain medication immensely! LOL!

Please...
keep me in your prayers that my pathology reports come back all clear.

In the meantime...
top on my list is:

Thank you all so very, very much for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers! God is so very good and He was so good to me yesterday! I am so very thankful and so very blessed!

Until next time....
I'm going to be resting for awhile but keeping my heart to God. You all will have to keep your hands to work in my stead. I know I'm in good hands :)
My love,
Vonna

  17. They pump you full of gas as you know which can be painful for quite a while. Try some ginger tea to help with the bloating. I'm so sorry that things were worse than you thought but have you in my thoughts for smooth and rapid recovery, great results back and lots of hugs (soft squishy ones) from your loved ones.

  21. Oh, my, you really are one tough cookie, Vonna!! To have all that going on inside you and not taking pain medication for the past nine months proves it! I'm so relieved to here that all went well yesterday... Now, you just need to rest and recuperate--your family will just have to spoil you for a while. I know it's hard to sit back and just be waited on, but you'll heal faster if you just let yourself be pampered for awhile...

Sending a warm hug your way--I know what a burden has been lifted from you now that the surgery is over!

  22. Glad you are getting lots of relaxation time. Hot tea really helps with any left over gas in your system. Sometimes the gas pains work themselves into the strangest places ---- (like a shoulder??? Yep...it happens.)

Lucky you are a stitcher ---- forced relaxtion means to will NOT be bored.

  23. Prayers sent your way for a pathology report that is favorable. SO glad that this is behind you and that you will soon be pain free. :-) <3

  24. What a coincidence! I had a laparoscopy to remove one ovary and tube as well. I know how you are feeling right now, although I have the feeling you are worse off than I was -- I didn't have severe endometriosis. I will be sending prayers that your tests come back as all clear. You must be one tough cookie to have endured all that pain!! Take care of yourself and let everyone pamper you!

  29. I'm so sorry to hear you have been hurting for so long but happy to know they have found the source of the issue and you are now in recovery mode. I too am recuperating from surgery after being flat on my back for 3 months while they tried to figure out what was going on. Take it easy and let the big guy take care of you! Glad you get to enjoy the meds. I can't take anything stronger than Tylenol without getting sick and getting sick would have been bad so Tylenol it was and is! Hope to see you back real soon!

  38. Finally Vonna you can begin to recover and feel better once again. Having suffered from endometriosis I know how excruciating the pain can be. I expect the swollen ovary also added to your discomfort. I cannot believe you were never given meds. Take care of your self and allow yourself plenty of time to heal - let your family wait on you hand and foot!

  41. Vonna, as women we often "endure" - we are moms and wives and friends and so much more to everyone around us and making sure that they are okay....we really should learn to take sme time to be good to ourselves - if it hurts even a little get it checked :) I am so pleased that the surgery was a success and that you'll soon be right as rain. I will hold you in my thoughts that the pathology report bears no ill news.xx

  47. I'm so glad you have that surgery over with and can mend and heal now Verna. I spent 44 days in the hospital myself this summer and am so glad to be home. Still fighting with a rare blood disorder and besides two infusions per week, I'm taking all kinds of meds at home. I know that God is going to heal me though. He has given me a wonderful testimony and I'm anxious to share it. He is so good. It's good to be back in touch with my followers and dear friends.

  71. So sorry to hear this news, but glad the surgery went well. Endometriosis runs in my family tho I never had it. Both daughters do, and two of four grands do... My older sister had it too... Take it easy and stitch something spectacular. I will add you to my prayer list sweetie! Hugs!

  72. I didn't read your last post, so didn't know of your pending surgery. Glad to know you're doing well and were validated that there was something wrong and you had a cause for the pain. Sometimes I think Drs just think we are making things up. Take it easy and rest up now.

  74. You are in my prayers Vonna! I am a stage 3a Breast Cancer Survivor and I know it's hard to recover. Especially if you are one that is on the go all the time! I had football games to go to (my daughter was a majorette) and twirling competitions to go to and everything a parent has to do! Just, take it easy on yourself and let your body heal. I went through 13 operations along with chemo, radiation and loosing my hair! It takes time...let the little things go and just take it day by day! Just wanted to let you know I miss your posts and I wish you well ♥
