Happy 2014!

And a very warm Happy New Year to all of my readers :)

I want to extend my most gracious thanks to all of you who have written to me via e-mail, cards, letters, comments wishing me a good recover for my PRK eye procedure. We are 6 days out now and I can say this. I am not seeing WELL yet. I am able to type this blog post with: my screen zoomed to 250%
but yesterday I got my "contact bandages" removed and my doctor said, "Your eyes are healing beautifully and your eyesight will just get better and better from here on out..." May that be so, because as of right now, its all sort of been a pain....in the eye. BUT if it all works and I never have to wear contacts or glasses again then HURRAH!!!

So...
what have I been up to? Basically not much due to my incapacity to see anything in the new year! But with the help of cheaters, my sexy polarized sunglasses (I'm very light sensitive) and my big magnifying glass...I have been stitching! (can't keep me down!) But its on Calendar Girls that you can't see yet! :(
But I must say...they keep getting cuter and cuter as they go along! And I'm just now almost finished with August, so if you are on the fence, jump in the paddock, cause they are cute as buttons!

Soon...
As soon as I get the girls all dolled up for their photo shoot with Diane...I'll be able to stitch something to show you!

So until then...
I'll be keeping my hands to work and my heart to God with my screen zoomed to 250%
Thank you for your words, your prayers and support! They helped me when I was feeling pretty down about not being able to see...and Katie read each and every word from you to me and it made me SMILE :)

Love in stitches,
Vonna xxxx

  21. Best of recovery, Vonna! I had Lasik 6 years ago and it was truly the best thing I have ever done for myself. I know PRK supposedly takes a little longer to heal, but it was quite some time before I felt like my eyes were "great". It was about 3-4 weeks before I stopped seeing halos around headlights/taillights, or stopped needing to blink to keep my eyes lubricated. I was so worried, but it all worked its way out. You're going to be great!!

  22. Glad to hear that your eyes are getting better, but I can't believe that you're back to stitching already! You just can't keep a good stitcher away from her stitching!

  26. Hi Vonna,
Glad to hear that you are on the mend. I can't believe that you're stitching right now in spite of the discomfort and the
need for ... visual aids. On the other hand ... yes I can believe that you're stitching right now ... in spite of the discomfort and thanks to visual aids.

Hope there will be continued improvement and you'll be good as new in no time. No more wearing glasses or contacts!
    Wow. A dream come true.

Can't wait to see your current projects revealed!!

    Take care!

  28. So glad that you are on the mend!! Don't push it too much with the stitching, though, let yourself heal! (says the terrible person who can never listen to the doctor when they say slow down)

  29. Hope you are healing well!!!!! My DH was very light sensitive too at first. Glad you are still able to stitch :-).

  30. Hang in there Vonna! I heard it takes a little longer with PRK than regular lasik.I'm glad that you've found a way to stitch while your eyes heal!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Vonna - you will be amazed at the results of that surgery! Like I said, I had the Lasik and that was the most marvelous thing I ever did. PRK is supposed to be longer lasting. So just hang in there cuz your time's a comin!

  33. Vonna I am so happy you are feeling better! I am glad to hear you are stitching!! That was the first thing I asked after I had my shoulder surgery when I could stitch. He told me if I kept my arm propped on a pillow and for only a little at a time I could stitch. A girl has to do what a girl has to do!! I can't wait to see what you are working on!

  59. Don't know what that surgery is, but my cataract surgeries (because of the radiation therapy) were easy peasy and I could see within 5 minutes! It was totally shocking the first time, and pleasing the second time. I was impressed. Have to wear glasses for close vision, since I could not afford both visions (very costly for me!! even with insurance!) but I have had them all my life so no biggie. Just being able to see clearly again is marvelous--you will love it! Praying for your recovery! Hugs!
