Primitive Welcome...

~ A Welcome to You... ~
my stitching friends! Please let me tell you a little story that I started telling you ~my Last Post ~
You remember the November/December Issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework Magazine...
well once again, I was flipping through the magazine and happened along this sweet design. Lo and behold it is by our very own blogging buddy and designer extraordinaire Nan Lewis of Threadwork Primitives! Well...that was good enough for me :)

Primitive Welcome

May I present my latest finish:

A Primitive Welcome

by Nan Lewis ~ Threadwork Primitives
found in the November/December Issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework Magazine
Stitched on 25 ct. Lugana
using a mix of GAST and DMC threads

Primitive Welcome 1

Now my finishing isn't exactly primitive...
but you will notice that I used some twisted twine...

Primitive Welcome 2

and I love to layer...
like I'm building a great big cake! I find it adds interest and depth to the finish.

Primitive Welcome 4

a sweet little bow on the corner...
and a little loop of ribbon, so that I may hang it on a door in my home to welcome our guests into our home.

Primitive Welcome 3

Yep...
I'd say that turned out just like I had it envisioned in my head before I started stitching it!
With this finish...
that completes the designs that I had ear-marked in the magazine. I must admit, this is the most I've ever stitched from Cross Stitch and Needlework, in recent months (maybe even years...). I hope the publishers keep up this quality in upcoming issues! And with this finish that leaves one week and one smaller finish that I want to complete for my home before I start back on my model stitching.

So wish me good luck...
and I'll see you next time!

Hmmm...
I wonder what that last design will be??...While I stitch with my hands to work and heart to God!

Gather A Harvest...

~~Greetings to my friends and fellow stitchers~~
I had a finish this fine Friday and I'd like to share it with you all!

The other day...
I traipsed to my mailbox and pulled out the latest issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework. Always a good day when you get something stitchy in the mail, right?!

CSN 2013
2013 November issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework Magazine

Well...
I opened up that sucker and started looking and one, two, three projects caught my eye, right away! Hurray!
After finishing up my "Midnight Ride"  on Wednesday, I went right to downstairs to my stitching room and started pulling linen and floss for a sweet little project that I had to stitch right now.

And...
I stitched it up yesterday, finished it today and may I present:

"Gather a Harvest"
by: Cathy Habermann of Hands on Design
Stitched on 25 ct. cream lugana
with Weeks Dye Works cottons
design found in the 2013 November Issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework

Gather A Harvest 1

The pattern has a little acorn stitched on perforated paper to tack the wool leaves on, but I decided to use a button from my Granny's Button jar that I inherited...

When I saw the design...
I imagined it here:

Gather A Harvest Door

On our back door...
where I like to hang seasonal things  to "cute" up the door...
I have to say...I love it! And "cute" it up, it sure fits the bill!

I lay at this door every morning to do my abs and core exercises after my daily 20 minute elliptical adventure. I have a feeling I will enjoy my crunches more now that I can look at this sweetie every crunch....okay, I lied I'm not going to enjoy my crunches any more...but the scenery will be better!

Gather A Harvest

CUTE!

So do you...
get this magazine? If so RUN and start stitching this lovely design! And if not: GO, buy one now!! The Good Lord knows we need some economic stimulation.

Now...
off to start another design found in this magazine! I'm telling you, this issue is a real winner!

Until next time...
I'll be plotting, and stitching and still keeping my hands to work and heart to God!
Join me!

My Midnight Ride...

~~Greetings to my friends~~
I've been busy! Busy stitching another perfect sweetie released at the St. Charles Market.
May I present:

Midnight Ride
by Blackbird Designs

Midnight Ride Box 3

Midnight Ride Box 2

Midnight Ride Box 1

Stitched on 30 ct. WDW Putty
Stitched with Gentle Art Sample Threads
and finished as a box top using Lone Elm Lane Shaker Box

Yep, I sure did...
fall in love with this design and box. When I was stitching at my LNS last week, we started talking about the new sewing box series that Blackbird Designs had announced at market. I said with much conviction (I might add) that I was out. I was not falling for another series! Period. Then lo and behold, I found out that they in fact had purchase the Shaker Box used in the series designs.  sinking feeling in my stomach. AND they in fact did have the leaflet too.  my pompous declaration blowing to smithereens....

SO...
I quickly arose from my seat, grabbed said box (that I had just said with much conviction I was not falling for... HAHAHAHAHAHA!) and leaflet and started to expound on the positives of having a series of designs that one could simply pop in and out of same said box. What a ingenious concept!

I don't think...
my speech on ingenious ideas fooled the girls one minute. No, in fact, I believe they know exactly what I am.....a sucker....for a great design!

Ha, ha, ha :)
we are nothing if we cannot laugh at ourselves! And blow some money every now and justify it in warped, convoluted ways!

Since I finished this sweetie today...
and fall is officially coming on Friday, I figured that was a good enough reason for me to decorate for fall. So today I spent the morning decorating the inside of our home for fall. My kids will be so excited when they get home from school. Mr. Pfeiffer will just smile, tell me "its pretty honey" and move the seasonal clutter aside to set his tea glass by his comfy chair :]
And if I get my rear in gear I figure I can get a large amount of decorating done outside this afternoon, as well.

I'll let the pictures do the talking for the most part...

...Mr. Scarecrow smiles at us silly from the back of our entry door...

And...
I'll be keeping my hands to work and heart to God, while I'm giving thanks and picking out my next stitching project! While I watch my blog roll to see your autumn stitchery and decorating!

Until next time friends, love in stitches...

Forget Me Not...

Hello to all my stitching friends, blogging buddies and visitors...
how have you all been?
We have been busy here in Pfeiffer land, but a good busy and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I took some time out...
from my model stitching and finishing to stitch up an enchanting little piece that made it's debut at the St. Charles Market.

In fact...
it was a limited edition piece from Country Stitches ~ With Thy Needle and Thread and designed by Brenda Gervais. I was lucky enough to finish it up today at Tuesday Stitch~in at my Local Needlework Store ~ Fancy Works. My stitching girlfriends got to celebrate with me.

Without further ado may I present:

"Forget Me Not Sampler"

Forget Me Not Sampler 2

Forget Me Not Sampler 4

Forget Me Not Sampler 3

"Forget Me Not Sampler"
Designed by: Country Stitches ~ With Thy Needle and Thread
Brenda Gervais
Copyright 2013
stitched on: 35 ct. "distressed" cream linen
stitched with: Weeks Dye Works overdyed floss

Don't you wish you had a sampler just like mine? :)
I'm going to get this sweetie all framed up as soon as Liz (from my LNS) and I pick out the perfect frame to fit this sweet little sampler.

You know...
I've stitched two other samplers from Brenda Gervais and each time I have fallen in love with her a little bit more :) I don't know if my followers remember, but I stitched:

"Soar Sampler"
in 2011
Soar Sampler w signature

"J.M. Gardner Reproduction Sampler"
in 2012
JM Gardner 2013 Fair

Today I ordered at my LNS another reproduction sampler from Country Stitches ~ With Thy Needle and Thread, because I thought... I have a good thing going here, why stop?!
You see, I looked at this beauty when it was featured with peeks on Brenda's blog and I thought hard about it when it came out earlier this year...but you know, I just never got around to purchasing it. So today I bit the bullet and ordered:

As my teenage daughter loves to say YOLO!
(You Only Live Once!)

I also promised Mr. Pfeiffer...
that I would not buy anything today at my LNS except my lunch.

Well...
I got out of there only spending $190. That's not bad right? They were things I really needed. I've been really good about stitching from my stash recently. Until St. Charles Market blew my whistles and dinged my bells...
and well anyway: YOLO!
is my new motto...

I'm hopeful you'll get to view...
one of my recent purchases from today really, really soon! Because I told the girls that I was going to have it done by next Tuesday...
Wish Me Luck!

Until next time...
I'll be keeping my hands to work and heart to God, just like always!
Join me :)
