Faith...

Good Afternoon....
Yoo hoo! is anyone still out there?! I bet lots of you have lost *faith* in me and my ability to stitch or post to this blog, huh? Lets just say my desire to stitch is still as strong and ardent as it ever was, however my time is severely, severely limited as my children age and get more active and involved in their schools and our community. My number one focus is raising, healthy, happy, productive kids - so my stitching time suffers, however my time with my children is passing so quickly before my eyes, that I am happiest savoring every moment with them. Loving, laughing and sharing things with them gives me great joy and although raising children isn't without its fair share of strife and turmoil, I'm even happy to share that with them too - (OK, well not really, but that's life - right?!) My needle, thread and fabric are my oldest friends, and they await me patiently until I can pick them up and be with them again - from time to time.

I got to be with my buddies this weekend....
and here is the result - may I present a square for Love Quilts stitched especially for a sweet little beauty -  Ana Maria .

My kiddos....
are still in school, due to our extremely bad winter weather. They will enjoy (and celebrate!) their final day of classes this week on Wednesday, June 8. All Mama can say is, "HOORAY!" I'm ready for a break and a change in routine. You know, we all get to the point sometimes where we need a fresh start, teachers need new faces, students need to see a new face, a different point of view, a change of pace. Although it hasn't been a bad school year, it hasn't been a stellar year either - I'm ready to wipe the slate and say goodbye to the 2010-2011 school year. Goodbye!

Thursday....
will find our rears parked on a lounge chair at our local pool. Well at least my rear will be parked there, my kids will be in the water - I'm sure ;o)

Sunday....
we'll all be loaded into our van and truckin' down the road on the way to our summer family vacation! WHOO HOO! I'll leave our destination for a future post, but I know we're going to have a great time :o)

In the meantime....
I cannot promise, but I'm certainly going to try (now that things that I commited myself to have been completed) to stitch as much as possible and update this blog more frequently. I miss you!

Until next time....
keep on keeping your "hands to work and heart to God" with me!
Hugs and love,

  4. I don't know how you do it all with 4 children - I struggle to find the time for all the activities, and I just have one son!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful summer vacation - I can't wait to hear about where you will be going!

Faith is beautiful - I stitched that a few years back. I love that LHN series.

  5. That's a really pretty finish and so true!
It's so important to spend all the time you can with your kids...I did and don't regret a momentof it...the only thing I regret is that they grew up and moved away...but they're in their 30's now...so I shouldn't complain! Time passes too quickly...enjoy them while you can!

I was just thinking about you and how busy you must be! Some school years are better than others. And some you will just be more than happy to put behind you.

  9. Beautiful finish and I certainly appreciate the desire to spend time with your children. I didn't stitch as much after the birth of my second child until she was about 11. My older daughter brought my stitching basket to me one day and said teach me how. I did and we all three stitch together now.

Everything in its season. Glad to see you back.

Now I can enjoy them as adults and stitch to my hearts content. Love them, teach them, make memories with them and we will be here when you have a little time to share, Enjoy your summer!

  34. Hi Vonna,

It sounds fun and exciting over there in your neck of the woods. Enjoy your children, because they will grow up fast and if like mine, will marry out of state girls and leave :( I wished I would of spent more time enjoying them, when I wasn't trying to sell them to gypsies! LOL! Enjoy your summer.

  35. Beautiful finish! I'm glad that you are making memories with your kids! :) They will always remember thoses special times. Enjoy your vacation and have a wonderful time.

  37. I SO love to hear about a Mom who is able to take the time to savor her kids' childhood - AND takes advantage of having that time! So many want to make sure the house is perfectly clean, or have coffee with friends while someone else cares for the children.

Anyway, have a great end of school and family vacations! We're always here and ready to read when you post

  40. Great piece of stitching, and wonderful values! Take care in raising those kidos. You're so wise to know that they'll be gone before you know it. As you say, the needle and threads will be there when they are no more. Miss ya!

  45. I totally understand your feelings! My postings have been sporatic as it seems to be hard to find time (or to make time) to sit. My boys (age 15 and 12) seem to be growing by leaps and bounds and getting more active in extracurricular activities as well. So, behind the wheel I am taxi-ing them from one place to another. But, like you, I wouldn't trade it for the world (or the time to blog :) ). One day it will be time for them to go out into the world, to make a place for them selves...but until that time, I would like to be apart of their daily life!
The end of the school year rapidly approaches here too. The change in routine with one less thing to worry about will be welcomed!

Enjoy these moments, enjoy the NOW!

    Take care!

  57. You definitely should know that we're still out there and definitely understand the family thing. They just grow up so fast and it goes by in a blink. I'm suffering from that too - want all the time I can with the kids. Daughter graduates from middle school tomorrow and son from high school on Thursday and then he's off to Spain and then college. Where does the time go.

Love your little piece and glad to see that you've managed to get some stitching done around all the fun with your family.

  67. Enjoy your wonderful family, Vonna. Before you know it, your "nest" will be empty, and your stitching and blogging friends will always be there. My nest is now empty, and how I miss my dear little chicks who have flown from our nest to raise their own families.

Life is a journey with many paths that we will follow, and it is only in looking back that we realize that we have been abundantly blessed by it all. God Bless!
