A Patriotic Basket...

Hello Friends! We had a very nice weekend and I was able to participate in A LOT of stitching...so much in fact that I was debilitated with "numb butt syndrome"! :) I should have a stitchy finish in short order to show you! :) It is an oldie, but a goodie!

In stitching business....

I was invited to participate in a Personal Patriotic Exchange. Being that I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy of the First Order (YDDFO), I took the bait and was landed on the shore in record time. I knew what I was going to stitch right off the bat. It was something that I've had on my mind to do for myself since this pattern came out. But thanks to this exchange Nancy K. got to be my victim. Here's what I stitched for her:
Patriotic Stitcher's Basket
including.....

a floss tag; ring complete with stars as the floss holders
and....

a needlebook
along with.....

a ruler and scissors pocket

All of these items were stitched using... Little House Needleworks (Diane Williams) "Hearts of America" motifs. I've wanted to make a basket of smalls using this pattern from the very first time I saw it, so now I had the chance and could see even the rest of the motifs used in a pincushion, a ruler pocket (so the ruler could have its own home) and a scissors fob. But maybe that will be another project for yours truly, we'll see. I'm sure you noticed that inside the basket, I had a Patriotic "stitch" all "kitted up" for Nancy - I'm into "themed gifts" can you tell? Anyway....how could I pass up LHN's Liberty and Justice Pattern? That's the perfect fit into the Patriotic Stitcher's Basket, no? So it's in there along with a cut of fabric and the thread (on the stars) so all Nancy has to do now is carry her basket with her on July 4th and she's set to go with needle, thread, scissors, fabric, pattern and a ruler to measure her margins! Presto! Shebang! Happy 4th Nancy, I hope you like the exchange I stitched for you!

Well now friends....that's all I have for you today....I'm going to go catch up on everyone's blogs, and then myself, my stitching and my four kiddos are going outside to work on our tans, which is a joke in and of itself being we are the fairest skinned people this side of the Mississippi and rather than getting that golden all over, take us out of the oven we are done, healthy look to us we burn and peel. :o( The humidity here in good 'ol Indiana has been cut in half and the temperature has dropped down to the 80's outside. It's like heaven!

And until next time....love and best wishes, as you count your blessings and your stitches, from our house to yours! XXxxxx

don't even remember leaving open.

  12. What a lovely exchange! Those star floss holders are really cute, and I love the fabric you used on the inside of the needlebook. I laughed when you said it was down into the 80's where you are, that is the hottest we get it here in Scotland (low 80's) and I swear I am melting! Must admit though the washing is dry in a flash! :-)
    Have a great week x

  33. Wow Vonna! You are an inspiration to us all. You are very talented! I always enjoy your blog. As someone asked before, did you make the star floss holders? Or did you purchase them? They are great! I too love the LHN Liberty. I stitched it last year and it hangs in our LNS as a model. It was one of the most pleasurable stitches I've ever done. Have a great and wonderful week! Oh, yea, and hot? I'll tell you hot....it's 108 so far where I'm at in Arizona, but there is an inside joke "it's a dry heat". And thank goodness that is true, other wise we would all melt right onto the asphalt. Take care, Carol E.
