This is the Day....

Hello Friends! I've been "jonesing" for another start....I know, I know.....but anyway, I decided after I finished Earth Sampler I'd start this little gem:

"This is the Day"
Designer: Hands to Work
Design from the February 2009 Just Cross Stitch Magazine
Fabric: 28 ct. Days Gone By Silkweaver Lugana
Fibers: Victorian Motto Sampler Threads
Started: 3/22/09

As you will notice from my "fibers" listed above - I chose my own color conversion using Victorian Motto Sampler Threads, I have a couple of DMC in there too, but the vast majority is VMST. I didn't fancy a pink/salmon colored house - so my house will be plum colored (I think...) Anyway, I do love this design and it will be a fabulous (some day) addition to my sampler wall - don't you think?

Well that's it for me today - just a drive by posting of my new start! Thank you so much for your visits, your comments and your friendship! And Until next time.....love and best wishes, as you count your blessings and your stitches, from our house to yours! XXXXXX

When others are happy, be happy with them.
If they are sad, share their sorrow.

  9. Pretty! I love it. New starts are always so much fun. I like to change colors around too, mostly to try and utilize my stash. I am beginning to realize that I have so many threads and I’d better get using them, or I never will LOL!

  11. Very pretty Vonna. Your fabric choice is great (love Silkweavers)! Is there anything better than starting a new project and putting that needle to fabric the first time? Love it!!!

  14. Vonna, Vonna, Vonna! Don't you know I already have too many projects calling my name? You're not helping matters here, especially since I already own the JCS issue with this pattern AND I probably have suitable linen and fibers for it. Will the temptation never end?? Guess not, because this is just lovely!!

I have this magazine too, and fell in love with the sampler as soon as I saw it. I can't start it yet 'cuz I have a Round Robin to get finished and mailed, a wedding shower gift (it's this Saturday) and a wedding sampler to finish and get framed. But it's next on my to-do list!
    Your colors are great...

  17. Vonna - Great start. I love your choice of fabric too. I know that I'm going to fall victim to this design soon. It keeps rearing it's ugly head and calls to me.

  20. Vonna, I find the stitching blogs quite funny. Was it you who started "Lo, A Rose" or perhaps someone else did? Anyway, then it seemed to catch fire and lots of people started stitching it, and rightly so! Now - "This is the Day" seems to be the one I'm seeing a lot of. I'm going to be stitching this with Joanie soon.

Looking forward to seeing the lovely colours in your conversion!

  25. Look at those gorgeous threads-wow! And double wow for losing 21 pounds!! I'm concerned as you got full on salad. Hmmm..to me salad is good, but I hope you have protein and fats in moderation. I know you can keep going. I've been walking here and there. When I get my van back, I'm going to try for at least 2-miles a week.

  35. Okay, I have to tell you, almost daily as I was stitching this sampler, I would sing, "This Is The Day The Lord Has Made, Let Us Rejoice And Be Glad" very loudly, in a high pitched voice, because that's how the cantor at our cathedral sings it. I did that one time around the kids & they all joined in, LOL. It's a super fun stitch and the colors you chose are going to be fabulous! I can't wait to watch your progress.

    Love your floss tag, too!

  44. What a nice blog you have! And, just as nice is your dear Chatty! How he reminds me of our own cat (in looks and gesture) "Burly Bear". (He was really wolly in his kittenhood). Our family's cat had kittens, and I was allowed to keep ONE. I was about 12 at the time, and I of course picked Burly--He was such a funny little kitty. My stepfather says he is "retarded" but I think he is just special. What a funny cat! I actually picked him because I didn't think anyone else would! He was so rough with his prickly fur and he used to back into the corner where the bed met the wall and wedge himself there and howl. No matter how often we pulled him out, he would go back! Also, he really loves to sit by you, even then.

He IS a little funny, though. Kinda reminds me of a friend of mine who is a bit autistic...His mind is just different. But, he is still a great cat.

Isn't that funny, how we love our cats? Anytime we see someone else's good cat, we remember our own darlings and compare them favorably. (P.S. Though similar in looks, I'm not saying that Chatty is like Burly in personality. Though, Burly Bear would love that squishy window perch!)

Enough of my cat rambling! This looks like it will be a great piece; can't wait to see some more!
