Lo How A New Start E'er Goes....

Hello Stitching Friends! Hope all is well with you :o) Wednesday brought a new start and a SAL with sweetStaci. We started this:

Designer: Brightneedle
Design: Lo How A Rose
Fabric: 28 ct. Silkweaver Solo Cashel
Fibers: DMC

I really am enjoying this pattern, it's a nice change to some other stitcheries I've done of late and it's really flowing nicely, I like the colors - I really just *like* it a lot. (Now say the previous sentence like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber, LOL!)

What's up for today you ask? Another new start, since I seem to be a serial starter of late....well yes in fact I hope to stitch up a small item today in between laundry and some finishing I have to do. Then on Friday it's HAED (Heaven and Earth Designs) day.

Last post Sherry asked this question: "Does your husband ever complain about all your starts? Mine is complaining that's why I'm asking." No, honestly my husband never complains about my starts or really anything about my stitching period. But I guess you have to understand that historically after we got married, and I was moving into our new home - I had tubs and boxes of all sorts of crafts. When we were going through them he would say, "what's this? what's all of this? what do you need this for?" of course I said, this is for quilting and this is for sewing and this is for crocheting and this is for cross stitching and this for scrapbooking and this is for XXX fill in the blank I did it all. So he told me that the "insanity had to stop" (remember that book? LOL!) and that I had to choose one craft. Now I looked at him like he was a Cyclops, but I did it. And do you know what the best thing is? Instead of having my finger in a whole bunch of pies and being a master of none, I feel like I'm pretty good at cross stitching. So he was right, it's good to focus on one thing. That's why I married him, he's the brains in the outfit :)

Finally, I have to say this...do you know what is one of the best things in life? Sitting down at your computer and looking at the clock and seeing that it is 5:45 a.m. and you've already had your Elliptical work out, started laundry and the day stretches out for you with endless opportunities! THAT is a great feeling!

Until next time....go chase some rainbows in your world, they are worth the chase! :o)

  4. How lovely all you are doing.
My husband got scared when we got married with the amount of magazines I had about cross stitch (we live in an apartment), but I promised I would be careful with my buys. He evem offered me a year subscription of Cross Stitch Gold (and my Eiffel Tower came from one of the numbers). Luckily, the building we live in has an attic where each one of the appartment owners has a place for storage and now with me, dowstairs I only have my favourite magazines. I do only cross stitch so...
    Best regards

  5. Good heavens girl what time do you get up in the morning? I am barely functioning and it is 7:45 a.m. If I tried to chase a rainbow today, I would need all my winter gear! I miss Arizona - sigh - one more week

  6. Great start Vonna.

Now I must ask, if you have all of that done by 5:45am, what time do you go to bed at night? I would never be able to get moving that early, but I think it is because I go to bed too late!

  10. Beautiful start - love the fabric. As for serial starting, I thing you're a serial finisher, too, so stitch on!
I'm way impressed with the fact that it's 5:45 and you've already worked out. I think, now that I'm not working early in the morning, that it would be easier to stay up until then and work out than to get up that early!
All in what we're used to at the moment. Change is always possible. Enjoy your day!

  11. A wonderful new start, love the fabric color! The past 2 mornings have been awful for me, I have had to drag myself out of bed at 7:30 to get the kids to school on time. But I know i'm a MAJOR night owl. LOL.

  15. It's always so good to read you, I always gain a smile on my face:DD ! I ask the same question as Cathy: you go to bed at what time?? Don't forget I am a Mediterranean girl, with big days and different habits... By the way, only by curiosity, how many pounds did you loss? I've been trying to loose some kilos but I can't resist some things (in spite of a serious blather ache a month ago...) but I'll never have your discipline (that's why I only have one child and I love to read your blog!!). Hugs and kisses! MªJoão

  17. Wow, how do you get so much done so early?! I can barely drag myself out of bed at 715am...and that's with the alarm blaring in my ear for a good 45 minutes!

I love your new start! Can't wait to see your progress on it.

  18. Great job waking up so early! My husband gets frustrated with all of my starts...if he only knew!

  19. Whoa, you are quite the morning person! My mother was like that - I often woke in the morning to the sound of the mixer and smells of fresh cookies she made for Dad's lunch pail. Of course, she was a farm girl so those hours were just embedded into her dna. Perhaps I could have been more like her, but I married this late, late, night owl, lol, not that I stay up anywhere near as late as he does. :D

  20. Vonna, I think you should teach motivational seminars. You have such a fabulous outlook and discipline towards your life...and it's contagious! My sister started a rotation last year in which she starts something new every Sunday night...I say GO FOR IT and do whatever your heart desires...you certainly deserve it!

  23. Another great start to your SAL.

Wow, I wish I could get that much done by that time of the morning. Until my baby daughter starts sleeping a bit better at night, I think that might be a bit too much of an ask for me.

  25. Hiya Vonna! Your progress is great on Lo, How A Rose. Keep up the great work.
Boy, I wish I could get my exercise in by 5:45 am. I like to stay up too late to get up so early to exercise. Congrats on the determination to do it.

  27. Now, I can't get up that early when I stay up this late... :) But I admire you for all of your "get-up-and-go" and your newest start is LOVELY!

  28. Love your start. And I can understand that feeling, my advice, do what you love. That's what I do. I don't have the Elliptical but the working out is making me feel so much better so I'll keep at it. :D Hope you have a great day.

  31. Love, love, love your new start, and your fabric colour for it. Hope you have had a great day, just think of all the stitching you could do all day

  32. Oh Vonna, your new start is so beautiful! I love the colours and the design and everything :)

I know exactly the feeling you described, even though I never have that feeling at that time, but sometimes not very much later :D I love mornings, I always think that it's another lovely, new day!! You never know what will happen :)

  33. vonna, I've been following your blog and i love all of your stitching. I like what you've said about your husband and choosing 1 craft. I think I need to take his advice. I have my fingers in several pies and I'm slowly but surely downsizing....that's really a smart idea :-)
also, I'm usually at work at 6am (get up at 4)so I have to exercise in the evenings but it usually is enought to wind me down about 6pm so I can be in bed around 9 or 10. Keep up the great stitching; it's so pretty!

  35. Pretty new start!!

I am sooo not a morning person! I stay up til 1 or 2 a.m. and get up between 7:30, 8:30...and it takes an hour after that before my brain wakes up.

Mr. Right would never ask me to choose 1 hobby, cause I'd give him the evil eye!! No, really because his hobbies cost WAY more than mine:) Race car (real or RC) vs. linen...no contest!
