Inspiration...

Hello Friends! Hope you all are doing well and keeping W-A-R-M....speaking of warm - a little funny side note is: have you seen those commercials on television advertising the Snuggie? Well the other afternoon, the commercial was on and I said to my husband, "I'd love to have one of those!" And he said, "I was going to get you one for Christmas - but then thought you'd think it was stupid." A big 'ol blanget with arm holes just for me - stupid? - no way! :) Had to LOL! though about it - the sweetie, gonna get me a Snuggie :)

What did I stitch yesterday? Well I tell you I stitched on this:

Stitching from June 2007

Inspiration ~ Rosewood Manor
fabric: 32 ct. Picture this Plus Moonglow
fibers: DMC as called for

I started this in June 2007 and was all excited about it because it really is a gorgeous design in my personal opinion. And its on yellow - one of my favorite colors! It's design is by Karen Kluba of Rosewood manor - a fellow Hoosier. What's not to like? But after stitching on it yesterday nearly 2 years since I dropped stitching on it - I remembered...all those COLOR changes - eeeeGAD there are a heck of a lot of color changes. But I'm in this with the Moondragon herself and I by golly am going to stick it out. So that one day I can look at it hanging on my wall...and with everything else I have going on in my rotation - I have 6 whole days inbetween all the color changing and backstitching :) I need some cheering on with this one....definitely....

Today is......Lo Ho a Rose day with Staci so I'm pulling it out just as soon as I get a chance in between the shuttle of kids to school and the changing of the loads in the laundry room. I hope to make some real progress on that one!

And just a quick few words on my quest for better health - I've been splitting my elliptical routine into two parts - I do 15 minutes in the a.m. and I do 15 minutes in the p.m. That way I push myself really hard by trying to keep it at a high RPM and also by adding more resistance. I figure I'm getting two burns too...because I push myself enough that I'm sweating like a lady of the evening in the front pew of a church :) (that's putting it nicer than the way my brother says it! LOL!) but anyway...I've kept it up and I've also really watched my food intake. I'm weighing once per week. and this a.m. I'm happy to report I've lost 10 pounds! HU-RAY! Now of course this is like spitting in the ocean and trying to see the level change....but I can tell in my body myself...I'm getting toned from the work outs and I think my belly maybe doesn't "hang" as much....I really hope and I pray, that 40 (which is 1.5 years away) doesn't see me overweight...maybe just pleasingly plump!

Ok...onward soldiers to start the day! Until next time....count your blessings and your stitches...and I'll be counting my calories too ;).....

PS...40 isn't too bad as I have found out for the last 1.5 years. There are changes, but living is grand.

I saw a commercial for the Snuggie last night and told my son I wanted one! He thought I was nuts, LOL!

Congratulations on your weight loss! Keep up the good work! I like the idea of two shorter workouts a day. It should keep your metabolism revved up, don't you think?

    Have a great day!

  11. The dude and I always imitate the Snuggie commercial when we are reaching for the remote control from underneath a throw. I guess we just have an amazing capacity to keep a blanket on ourselves! ;)

Inspiration is going to be gorgeous!

  12. This is pretty, it will be worth all those color changes when it's done.

Good luck on getting fit, sounds like you are doing good.

  13. Keep up the good work!
Either the work out or the stitching you seem to be getting there, so you just have to keep up! And the 40 milestone is much easier then when might think if you are in good company.
And you have a really wonderful family!
Hope DH get you that blanket for you to snug on according to the temperatures I just saw in Yahoo, categorizes as Artic!!!!!!
    Hugs

  16. When I saw Inspiation for the first time my first thought was: wow, a lot of colour changes, and my second thought was: but it's just wonderful so it's worth stitching it. Great progress picture!

  17. Great job on your stitching! You will be so thrilled to get it finished and you will feel so proud!

Congratulations on your work outs! I have heard it is better to exercise 15 minutes several times daily instead of all at once. I am still exercising and have lost some weight too! Yea for us!!!

  18. Great progress on your Inspirations - Im in the same boat as you - needing inspirations to stitch on mine too. Im about a 1/4 of the way finished, but the color changes got to me. I need to get motivated and stitch on it again.

The Snuggies are so tempting, I have seen a pattern to make your own.

Best of luck on the weight loss!

  20. I want a Snuggie too! I'm going to wait until they start showing up in stores so I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping. :-)

Congrats on the weight loss! I need to get back on the exercise wagon myself...the holidays and all related events just totally derailed my working out.

  21. Congratulations on the weight loss!! And keeping up the work outs. I need to do something instead of just eating and hoping divine help will blast the fat off of me. :P

Your Rosewood Manor piece is B-E-A-Utiful!! So, so pretty. It's perfect on that fabric. Keep up the good work!

    A snuggie! How fun:)
Rosewood Manor is a gorgeous stitch! Keep going on it girl!! It's too pretty not to finish!! Beautiful progress:)

  24. Your stitching is lovely. I wish I could stitch consistently enough to have a piece per day rotation. Right now, I post updates every 5 hours. It seems to be working when I'm able to put needle to fabric.

Great job on the work outs. That is impressive that you're breaking your work outs in to 2 parts. Huge congrats on the loss of 10lbs!

  25. Congrats on your weight loss progress! 10 pounds is a big goal to meet. I need to get my exercise butt in gear, too. ;)

Rosewood Manor is soo pretty -- you can do it!!!

I started Lo How a Rose 2 years ago but didn't like my fabric choice. :( I think that pattern is so pretty, I really want to start again, but I've delayed because I keep thinking I'll change all the thread colors. I will just have to live vicariously through your progress for now!

Way to go on the 10 pound loss!

  29. So....I noticed in your rotation that you have a SAL on HAED. I wanted to see what the finished projects looked like...just curious, you know. Yes, I clicked. And I found 3 HAEDs I would LOVE to do. Me doing a HAED? HA HA HA. But I want them.....

  30. congrats on the weight loss. I always think those people on the snuggi commercials look like monks sitting around. Not that there anything wrong with monks mind you.

  32. Keep it up girl! 40 is great... I've been there for a few years now.

I know what you mean about all the color changes in a piece. I don't like them either, and they do tend to decrease my enthusiasm once I get started. But, I've found that when I stitch as far as I can with one color, trust my counting and take a leap it's not so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, Vonna, you are off to a great start this year. I like the rotation idea and you have wonderful projects you are working on. I LOVE your Rosewood Manor "Inspiration" piece. I have long that it was a gorgeous piece! I'm cheering you on over here!

I'm also cheering you on with your weightloss endeavors. It is a hard struggle and I am with you on it. I haven't had a chance to get in the gym yet this year, but have been doing daily walks and watching the food intake. 40 is looming large the end of this year and I would love to get my weight where I want it by then.

  36. What a lovely piece and congrats on the 10 pound weight loss, you are doing great!

  37. Your analogies make me laugh! I'm happy you lost 10 pounds and see it in yourself. If I could find myself a walking partner. I was thinking of going up to the next town and walk the length of it and see Bri, as he works there.
I hope you finish your 2 yr old project.

  38. That Inspirations piece is gorgeous, especially on that fabric! I can see what you mean about color changes though! You'll get through it and it will be worth it!

  39. I like the "June 2007 stitch turned January 2009 stitch" It looks as though it will be absolutely gorgeous finished.
YaYHoo on the weight loss. I have just begun that journey myself. It may be my 60th B'day that I want to get to looking not so over weight...my 40th has come and gone to worry about that any more!

  40. Inspiration is beautiful. I admire your tenacity at reaching a healthy life.

Re: the Snuggie. Do a google search for a review of it before you invest. There are better alternatives out there.

  41. Stay with that exercising and healthy eating Vonna - wish I had your willpower!

Inspiration looks beautiful. It will look gorgeous on your wall, so you definitely need to finish this one!

  42. woohoo, doing a happy dance for you on the weight loss and on the stitching progress!!!
I'm with on the weight loss; and I'll tell ya, after 40, it's harder and harder to make those scales budge. I saw 40 a few years ago (will be 44 in march) and man, that metobolism really slows after 40...but you're doing great! (oh, and we say the same phrase as your brother too down here in the south, LOL.....it just doesn't sound the same if you don't say it that way, LOL)

  43. I love, love, love this Inspiration - I even have it. You make me want to stitch on it right this second! Oh, wait, what's that you said about ...constant color changes?? JK - this is so pretty. I actually plan to stitch it (maybe later this year).
Congrats on the weight loss - send it my way!

  44. Hip, hip hooray on the weight loss, Vonna! :D Rooting for you!! :D

And wow oh wow on this WIP. It is stunning!!!! Don't give up on it!

  45. We need to invent some kind of exercise bike we can ride while we stitch, so you know, we can exercise more? LOL! Good for you on the weight loss, that is awesome :)

Inspiration is very pretty. I didn’t realize the colors were so bright either, the photos on the pattern never do them justice do they?

    ReplyDelete
  46. You are beautiful as you are! I'm gonna try walking after school with my coworkers. Many that will help me!
Great stitching! I know you all are freezing up there!
    Try to keep warm!

  47. This is another really beautiful piece and again your stitching so much. I feel very inadequate with my stitching now. My husband and I watched the Snuggie ad and had a little giggle. It looks a little like a Jedi master robe. Great idea though and looks nice and warm.

  48. You're making great progress on Inspirations. It does look like a difficult one to stitch. Good luck with it!

A fitness tip...if you work out within one hour of waking up in the morning, your body is still in fat-burning mode and you will burn fat right away. If you wait until afternoon or evening to work out, you have to excercise for approx. 20 minutes before you start to burn fat. You have to burn through all of the carbs first!

  49. Oooh, Inspiration is so pretty! I can see how all the colour changes would get to you but stick with it. It's going to be gorgeous.
Good luck with your weight loss. You're doing great!
I wish I could get motivated somehow!

  50. Congrats on your weightloss! 10 pounds is a lot. I'm getting back on track with my healthy eating and workouts too. Here's to making a difference!

  51. You are such a hoot. You make me laugh. Love your sayings like the "sweating" one. Congrats on the weight loss. That is a battle that I have all but given up on.

Inspriration is looking good. That was my reaction when looking at your progress. Way too many color changes, but I think it is a gorgeous piece. Keep up the good work. A week between stitching times will make it easier.
