Yesterday January 28, 2009 ~ I opened the bag that I had this project stored in and pulled that guy out and started stitching. This afternoon I finished stitching it:
Then I flew down to my basement to find a garage sale picture frame that I knew would be perfect....prepared some foam core, got my push pins and a few other accessories from my finishing studio (fancy word for my finishing room) and went to work. After an hour This is what I came up with:
I had him all framed up but...... thought it needed *something* to sort of "jazz" it up....Hmmm....I had a thought ~ ran down to my finishing studio (there's that fancy word again) - grabbed some rick rack and VIOLA! What do YOU think?
All I can say is: "Hang 'er on that wall!" Ok, that's it for me for a few days...work this weekend, plus I've harangued you guys enough this week.....
Until next time.....count your stitches and your blessings!
Well I'm impressed! You should give yourself a big pat on the back for a stitching and finishing well done! All in a days work. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI can't look as fast as you finish your projects, lol. Oh Vonna, this is one of my very favourite BBD designs but I haven't even started it. The frame is perfect and the little extras are just adorable.
ReplyDeleteHi Vonna,
ReplyDeleteI love the finish and the rick rack touch!

Congrats, that is so gorgeous! I love the ric rack, see you are inspiring me again :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my! How strange is that? Not your finish, Hun, it's LOVELY! But earlier today I was looking through my stash and came upon this design all kitted up and ready to stitch and remembered the first time I ever saw it was on your blog back when you started it and I fell head over heels in love with it upon first sight, as you know I have this *thing* about rabbits... and of course ordered it and all the trimmings straight away... Anyway, I couldn't remember ever seeing your finish, and I wanted to see how it turned out... So, I came and looked back through your blog as I wanted to see your version *finished* and couldn't find it... Now isn't that strange indeed? *Twilight Zone moment* aside, it's as lovely as it was the first time I gazed upon it, even lovelier now as it's all finished and I still want to stitch it like yesterday already! Why aren't there more hours in the day? And your *finishing, finishing* is so perfect! I LOVE it! Congrats on another Beautiful finish to adorn your lovely home, Vonna!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish Vonna, I have loved this design for a while, such beautiful muted colours.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he just the most darling thing I've seen in a while!
ReplyDeleteVery clever finish!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!!! I love it Vonna!!! He is just too adorable! Love how you finished it too! Oh, how I need a finish!!!!
ReplyDeleteArgh! I had totally forgotten about this design. *sigh* Must buy now. I like the ric-rack touch. I'll be stealing that...
ReplyDeleteI love the rick-rack accents. It makes it so personal and even more Prim then just a plain framed piece. Great work!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the finish!
ReplyDeleteHi Vonna, can I just say - you are an amazingly fast stitcher!! Wow! You did a beautiful job finishing and framing this cute boy. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I L-O-V-E love your "Lo How a Rose." Yay! Someday I will do that one, too. Maybe this year.
And your primitive Valentine is super sweet - aww!
LOVE the bunny all done up! A bright idea with the rickrack!..GOOD for you! "Lo, How a Rose" is super too! Funny how we remember things from long ago. I sang that song as part of the holiday choir concert my sophmore year in high school. Can still hear it! Your site is great and so are your stitchings!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the way you have finished Easter Parade. The ric rac adds to the design beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am so impressed with your creativity! Love the finish and the framing job! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you crack me up! First of all, I died laughing when I saw your sampler WIP wall. I was expecting to see all sorts of framed pieces. You got me!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE your Lo How A Rose finish and your BBD bunny rabbit is just adorable. You are so creative and talented with your stitching and finishing. Send some this way!
Great job, GF!! {{{{HUG}}}}
Carolyn :)
WOW beautiful and wonderful job at the framing. You are so creative, I would never think to add rick rack.
ReplyDeleteThis is sweet and you did a great framing job too! I'm in the process of finishing up Giggles in the Snow which is kinda a pain with the sparkly fabric, not to mention I cut it too small, so can't use the words 'Snow Angel' (I started it a while ago before I knew better).
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see this chart my fingers start to itch... Yours is such a pretty finish too!!
ReplyDeleteHe's wonderful Vonna and I love your finishing
ReplyDeleteWonderfull!! The perfect way to start using the walls.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Oh my, your sampler wall is going to fill up pretty nicely, at the rate you're going! It's a gorgeous finish, Vonna! Tried your method this morning and fell asleep with my nose pressed to the scroll frame. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteTheir "Easter Parade" was beautiful. Many Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteOh look at that! It's wonderful! Make's me feel "Springly" ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching and the finishing is perfect! Great job!
ReplyDeleteAwesomeness! Adding the rick rack was a great idea!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish, Vonna! Your framing job is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteSo utterly perfect, Vonna!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute guy! This is the first time I've seen this design and I love it! Well done on the framing, it looks just great!
ReplyDeleteYou are one fast stitcher! This is so pretty. I love how you dyed your fabric, and the ric rac is a wonderful touch! Congratulations on a very nice finish.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable finish! I just love that bunny. I really like the addition of the ricrac to the framing. It really does add a nice something extra to the piece.
ReplyDeleteWow! Vonna, you are fast! I love the ric rak! It really adds alot to the piece!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish! I love the rick-rack accent you added!
ReplyDeleteLove the Easter Parade AND the addition of the rick rack! Your house looks a lot like mine inside: tall, tall foyer walls, stairways, and a peaked roof in the master bedroom. All bare, all desperately in need of becoming sampler walls! I'm aware of the light thing also, and I've thought of putting a curtain or wood blinds over the upper window, but I like the bright light. So I'll fill up the other areas first, I think. I'm thinking there's special UV glass out there for the frame, or I'll just let them gently fade and keep making more!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish Vonna! It's beautiful! I love the frame and the ric rac! Too cute1 :)
ReplyDeleteToo cute Vonna!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable finish and embellishment on the framing! Great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish! Congrats! And a great example of your self-dyed fabric. I'll be trying your method this weekend!
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful finish along with Lo. :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Vonna!! Your needles must be well and truly smoking what with this sweet finish and the oh so beautiful Lo!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful - such a creative finish.
ReplyDeleteTanya
that is one sweet bunny :)
ReplyDeleteYou are on a roll with another beautiful finish! You have framed this one so well, I like the ric-rac trim.
ReplyDeleteI like the fancy "Finishing Studio", perhaps I can call my craft room my "Craft Studio", much better sounding, lol. Makes me sound very professional.
Absolutely wonderful...just gorgeous! Love the frame and finishing.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful...you always come up with the most ingenious ideas. Kudos for that.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
Turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteVonna, you are speedy with that needle! And while the bunny itself is darling, your ability to just whip up a frame and backing is positively inspiring!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute piece, and your finishing/framing is adorable!
ReplyDeleteVonna, Love Easter Parade!!! The rick rack was the perfect finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteWow! Wonderful job Vonna! Gosh that languished almost finished for so long!!! Must of been a nice surprise to find you almost had a finished project.
ReplyDeleteI love your finish, Vonna, mad as I am about Easter themes etc. It looks lovely!

He looks so good! I love the addition of the rick rack. It adds just a little something. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out wonderful. That is such a cute design, and the rick rack is a perfect touch.
ReplyDeleteSue
What a great design! I love how you finished it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic piece and framing job! I love bunnies. And I love reading stitchers' blogs, so it wouldn't bother me if you wrote every day, even if it wasn't about stitching!
ReplyDeleteGreat finishing idea. Thanks for the tutorial on how to dye fabric your way. Very nice
ReplyDeleteDonna
Wonderful!!!

Hi Vonna,
ReplyDeleteLove your new framed rabbit. As soon as I saw him I suddenly thought of Alice in Wonderland and I started singing to by self, my favourite song from the movie "Painting the Roses Red" LOL. The rabbit and the tulips go together so well.
What a great job you have done framing it. The ric rac just sets it off.
You have something in your last post that I would dearly love. Near bare walls. A girl could go beserk filling them.
Thank you for your lovely comments regarding my Sarah Moon. She is now finished and I am doing a combination of the jitterbug and cha cha. Not good for my body LOL I can tell you.
What a great finish, the ric rack is a great idea. Wish I could hang out in your "finishing studio" :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic Vonna..
ReplyDeleteOh I just love your bunny!! Easter Parade is really pretty and I have just gotten more into Blackbird Designs and think this is a must have after seeing yours! It is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteHi Vonna! Finally managed to catch up with you and what a great catch up! Fab finishes you have recently done and I love the way you have framed your latest piece. xx
ReplyDeleteI love the way you framed him, so creative! Thanks for the fabric bake tutorial, it looked like a fun thing to do and I want to try it.
ReplyDeleteThe ric rac looks great on it, what a brilliant idea. Love the finish!
ReplyDeleteThat is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove it! That rickrack is a fabulous touch! And how fun to pull a project out and finish it that very afternoon (not to mention framing it too!). YGG!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely finish there girl! You inspire me with your imagination.
ReplyDeleteA very unique finish! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. Isn't it nice to finish a longtime WIP. Great job.
