Fa~La~La.....

Hello Friends! How are each and every one of you? First off: thank you for continuing to visit with me, although I've been a less than stellar blogger and return visitor to your blogs of late.

What have I been up to in the last few days? Well seems like I've baked a bakery full of cookies for my DH's Christmas Party at work tomorrow, seems like I've lost some sleep somewhere a long the line too, I've worked 36 hours in 3 days at the hospitals, and I've tried to catch up my poor partner's Fair and Square set of squares that I needed to mail over a week ago. So to sum up - I stink because I just am all over the chart. Not settled - maybe I need to take some Kaopectate?

Some news: I found out last week that my Hello Neighborhood RR has gone missing - lost in the mail. Have I said I will never participate in a RR again? Well - let me say it now: I will never participate in a RR again! Of course there are a lot of worse things that can go wrong in life and in the grand scheme of the universe this is just a small drop in the bucket - but still after it was held hostage for 3 months and now lost in the mail - if it ever does resurface from "la la land" - I'm taking it to our priest for an exorcism and I think after that I'll just give a big dunking in the Holy Water Font for good measure. But I think it is well and truly lost - as its been almost 2.5 months lost now. There is some serious bad JU - JU with my RR piece apparently. Its almost funny....and I'm trying to think of the bright side....but when I think about the hours I spent stitching on 9 round robins....I get just a little twinge in my chest region. What happens happens for the best, so that's all I have to say about that! Life is a box of chocolates and you never know what you're going to get - and my life has been filled with chocolate covered cherries, so I deserve a pit every now and again too.

But one thing that I do have to share that turned out successfully and positive is this little ornament that I stitched for Carolyn in the Christmas Ornament Exchange that BeckySC set up earlier this year.

Designer: Plum Pudding Needleart
Design: Fa-La-La - Complimentary from their website
Fibers: DMC
Fabric: 28 ct. coffee/tea dyed baste and baked by me
Speaking of my Coffee/Tea dyed basted and baked fabric - I did up 3 yards of it last year - and this ornament used up the last bit of it :o( Hobby lobby stopped selling it off the bolt - so now I don't know what I'm going to do. I guess I could start asking around at the shops or maybe my LNS to see if I can get a bolt of it. I love it!

The Elliptical Chronicles: up to 15 minutes twice per day without calling 9-1-1.
Until next time friends - count your stitches and your blessings!

  3. Your ornament is beautiful, the fabric is perfect for it. I'll keep my fingers crossed you can track some more down to dye. Sounds like things are going a little bit crazy at the moment, hopefully they'll settle a bit soon. I'm so sorry about your RR, what a nasty thing to happen. I can't believe having all that work go into something and then have it go missing. Maybe you'll be lucky and it will turn up at some point. {{hugs}} and congrats on doing so well on the eliptical machine.

  4. Wow, that stinks about your RR. The payoff can be great when these things work, but I just hear about too many that get lost or too many bad apples in the group...oh well.

  5. I'm so sorry to hear about your RR. I participated in one that a member never received her piece back. I enjoyed stitching on it too. I felt so bad that I got my piece stitched and gave it to her.
Maybe it will reappear someday but I do feel your sadness. I will say a special prayer to St. Anthony for it to show up. I'm not sure if it works for mail as well but it's worth a shot.
    Hugs!

  8. Your ornament is absolutely perfect:) The cording is a wonderful match. I'm sorry to hear of your RR, I won't participate in one again either unless it is with friends that I trust them. I did have an old Disney robin "magically" appear again after going MIA for almost 18months, so there is still hope :)

  9. Ouch...that hurts. I was so disappointed when one of my RR's came back with knotted threads on the back. You have a great sense of humor about it all!

Love the ornament and good job on the elliptical, my personal favorite exercise machine.

P.S. How do you manage it all???

  10. How awful to lose your RR. Makes you wonder where our lost mail goes. I really like Plum Pudding designs and I am off to their website to see if I can get that chart too!

  11. Oh, oh, Vonna. Not your RR!! I really feel for you. While I'm sure it would make a lovely decoration at whichever Post Office branch still has it, it **needs** to be back in your hands. NOW!!! I hope that the good thoughts sent from all of your fellow stitchers will bring it back to your doorstep eventually.

  12. Vonna, I feel for you with your rr missing in lala land. So far my robins have come home except one, which has been with the same lady for over 16 months now and she acknowledged that she received it when it first arrived, but can I get it back from her? not on your nelly! the worst part being that its the daughter of the lady that ran the group. Needless to say, I'm not participating with that group anymore. Who knows it might magically appear on my doorstep one day, just like Angela's Disney robin, amazing story after being gone for 18 months. Good luck Vonna and I love your ornie.

  13. Oh hon I am so sorry that your RR is missing and I know the sender feels just awful. I sent a Mirabilia RR in the mail for Marjean around the same time and she has not received it either. There must be a place where undelivered mail goes. With a little luck and a lot of prayer hopefully both RR's will return.
Those children of yours are so handsome on that staircase. How blessed are you!!!!

  15. Sorry to hear about your RR. May the postage fairies find it and get it back to you. I've had a few RR's go MIA, but am still involved in 2 others. Occasionally you get a bad apple, but sometimes you get a few gems and when that finished piece finally comes home it's a wonderful feeling. I hope you feel better soon. Love the ornament!

  20. Oh no, I can't believe that after all the trouble there was that it has now gone missing in the mail! I can understand why you are now feeling like you never want to do an RR again. I certainly hope it resurfaces soon.

  24. I am so sorry about your RR - you know what I've never been able to figure out? If there's an address or a return address, how can mail get lost? I'm hoping yours turns up, even though it's been awhile! Love your Fa-La-La!

  27. Vonna, the ornament is adorable! I am so sorry about your RR. I have had similar experiences with other craft RR and it really is the pits. I totally understand why you never what to do another RR and I don't blame you! You have every right to feel put out about it!

  28. I love your snowman ornament! You did a beautiful job, and he really brings smiles!

The fact that your RR is missing is very sad. I would be in tears. Fingers crossed for you that it will show up.

  29. I'm sorry about your missing RR; If you're looking fir volunteers to help you recreate it, I'd do it in a heartbeat for you.

    I've never lost one of my own, but one that was sent to me didn't arrive. I went to my local Post Office to see if they had it on the shelf (I have a PO box). They insisted they didn't have it but I kept going back, and finally, three months later they found it on a shelf - it had been there the whole time. I hope yours I'd returned to you. {{{hugs}}}

  32. Vonna I'm still hoping your RR does turn up somewhere along the road! Now I've heard parts of Canada Post is on work to rule and Kathy says something she was sent during the same timeframe hasn't shown up either!

So lets hope its just been held hostage by the evil Canada Post monster. I've never had one disappear like this before, its just a shame parcels can't be tracked across the border!

  33. That's one cute ornament! I am so sorry to hear about your RR, we have been having problems like that with our RR, but they always seem to show up eventually.

I was planning to do the same with a huge length of fabric as soon as it goes on sale after Christmas. I tried a coffee dye last week and the fabric came out so beautiful I want to do lots more.

  34. Hi Vonna friend, I've been such an absentee blogger/commenter lately! I'm soooooooo sorry about your RR. :( :( Here is a "grrrrr!!" for you!

  37. I don't belong to any RR's.
BUT, when I send something out as a gift, after being a buyer at postal auctions where all the torn-open pkgs and mislabeled items go, I have learned to place my stitching into a zip-loc bag with the names 'to and from' written on the bag in permanent marker. Do not place an address label on the bag.
I usually place a card inside the bag also with the same information. Then I staple that bag shut with several staples. When packing the bag in a box, I also pack a label with the same info. So I have at least three (four, if you include the 'box' 'to and from' info) chances that it will get to the person intended.
I know that all this preparation sucks, but all of my packages have been received. Good luck in the future.
Any chance of some of that carmel corn recipe coming this way?

    ReplyDelete
  38. What I meant was-------the recipe coming this way, not asking for the caramel corn...Sorry my words got mixed up.

  39. That really sucks about your RR. I know how much work you put into it before it left you besides the work you have done on others.

Your ornament is so cute. The finishing is perfect. Think I need to send some ornaments to you for finishing. I keep saying that, and sometime I really am going to do that. Amazing that you used 3 yards of fabric in a year. I have never kept track before and that is a good way to keep track.

Sounds like you are doing great with the eliptical. I am so uncoordinated athat I would fall off and injure myself.
