Maudy Monday...

Hello friends! Short and sweet post today!

I had the weekend off and it was a gorgeous, glorious weekend! Too bad I am a little under the weather...I had to go to the clinic on Saturday because I have a UTI (urinary tract infection) - I think its been cooler so I haven't been as "into" drinking my 6-8 glasses of water per day. Let me tell you after this weekend...I'll be drinking that darn water and remembering how I felt on Saturday - not good!

I'm also happy to report that 7 days ago I and my husband received our flu shots - and 5 days later (Saturday) I though hmm...my throat feels a bit scratchy - said something to Keith and he said, "mine is too"....which turned into Sunday being totally clogged up and unable to breath through my nose and my ears are full of fluid today - Keith says he's the same. Great! Being that I work in hospitals, I have to get a flu vaccine every year no matter what....and they always say - "oh you won't get sick" but every year about 5 -7 days after my vaccination, guess what?
I am happy to report that my LNS called my frame for "Something Wicked" came in! Whoo Hoo! And I acted like a big girl and framed it myself....whoops, small problem, I ordered it too small....yikes...was a little upset, but then figured, I can frog the black box around it - that I did and lookie here - I think it almost looks better without the black box and really tight up against the frame edge (picture should be clickable):

"Something Wicked" by La-D-Da

(stitched on 35 ct. Havana Weeks Dye Works linen and in Eastside Moulding Frame as called for)

So this weekend I stitched on a Thanksgiving piece for a personal exchange...nearly done, and I don't think I want to send it away! LOL! I'm really happy with the way it is stitching up :)

I also kitted up 4 other projects, that I have to stitch and get out of here fast, two are RR's (Halloween and Hello Neighbor) and one is the ornament for November's recipient...and the other is....I can't remember...but something....LOL! :o)

Ok buddies and friends, take care! Until next time.....

  2. Feel better soon! I also work at a hospital and get a flu shot every year. They swear to me it won't make me sick but one year I felt horrible for days afterwards. Coincidence???

    Something Wicked looks AWESOME!

  3. Ugh, I have to get a flu shot next week...I'm not looking forward to it!

But your 'Something Wicked' looks great--just frog the black box and use the frame you've got. I like the look of the frame so close to the stitching, myself.

Drink plenty of fluids, and start taking cranberry juice capsules. No UTI since I started doing that!

  5. Flue shots are nasty. I stopped taking them once I did not deal with the public any more. They always made me sick. Hope you are over this real quick.

Something Wicked looks great without the border and in that color frame. Nice job

  6. Your framing looks wonderful! How do you do your own? I am sorry to hear you are under the weather. I haven't gotten the vaccine yet but should. They always say it is possible to get sick right after.

Sorry you had a bad reaction to the flu shot. I have never gotten one mostly because I'm sure I'd get sick from it too!

Thanks Von, your dear old mom gets her flu shot tomorrow and now I am getting paranoid about it. But my Doctor demands that I take one. If I get sick don't forget to come down and pamper me.

    Love, Mom

  18. Hope you feel better soon, Vonna. Sooner than I: my darned cold is taking forever to get better. I'm into my fourth week now!
Your shoe is adorable, and yes, it looks fab in this frame! One question though: if the frame was this small, why did you have to frog the border? Couldn't you have left it there without anyone noticing?

  19. Vonna, I think it looks FABU. Great job on that piece. I hope you feel better soon!!

All I can say is-that sucks! I've been thinking about getting a flu shot, but it's about $30 a pop. I haven't had one in years, but I'm not the one who is going out and shaking hands and nibbling my nails-thats Bri!
    Take care!!
    Your framed piece looks great.

  42. I've been lucky with the flu shots so far. My hospital insists on them as well but I've not had any adverse effects yet. Sorry to hear you're feeling so lousy.
I love your choice of frame for Something Wicked!! You did a fantastic job.
I've just learned that the framer at my LNS has retired. Don't know where I'm going to go now!

  43. Wicked turned out awesome, what a great frame you found for it also. I think it looks perfect framed like that without the black border around it. Many times I don't put borders like that in, as they are so hard to get nicely squared up to the frame edges. Sorry to hear that your cold is being so nasty, hopefully you're feeling better soon.
