Really BIG Surprises!

Yesterday the Postman brought me a HUGE box and the return address said Jill's address. Hmmmmm......I don't think I had any outstanding exchanges?! Hmmmm....

Well I opened that puppy up and found a treasure trove of untold goodies! See....Jill found out that I had not received squares for 3 exchange rounds and she took it upon herself to stitch three sets of squares for me, plus her BFF Joan teamed up with her and sent me a really, really lovely package. They designed the signature squares together and Jill picked out what she was going to stitch and these are the squares that she stitched for me! The first set to go missing dated way back to last fall. So she stitched me these:

Then I was missing some from a late winter/early spring exchange and she stitched me these:

And for the 4th of July (which I did receive from my partner last week, but they were not completely stitched):

Here's all of them together:

Then Joan sent me one of her SUPER-DE-DUPER project bags! I've been coveting these since I saw them popping up in Joan's exchange recipient packages ;)

And inside the project bag was all of these goodies:

TWO "The Twisted Stitcher" floss palettes made by Joan!

A marking pin made by Jill:

A lovely wooden needlekeep and magnetic needleminder all hand painted by Joan's Daughter-in-law - not to mention another little cutie I've been secretly coveting the little chick pincushion...LOVE HIM!:

And then at the bottom of the box were all of these:

WOOOOOOWWWW!!! HUH?! Golly wee...what a surprise! Thank you Sweet Jill and Dear Joan for this wonderful box. It certainly made me smile really big and I never expected squares let alone anything like this....THANK YOU! You both touched my heart and like I said in my thank you notes to you both....after I went all through this box, I laid my head down on the table and tears came to my eyes because of the generosity and time that was spent on making this present....words cannot express!

The day wasn't over because then the Postman came back round and said he'd forgotten this packet when he dropped off the other mail. So I opened it up and found this from Margaret G. that - come to find out is moving back to the Netherland's really soon....

Margaret G. was also a member of Fair and Square and took a liking to Katie (my daughter) when she had a blog....which has since been deleted because Katie says she has to be serious about her studies....(yes, a bit of an over-achiever) and she doesn't have time to stitch. Maybe (she says) when she is a Mama like me - she'll have time! Yes...time just sits heavily on my hands around here.... :)

Anyway back to Margaret...well see I knew she was sending Katie a fob - for she told me before she mailed it. But the package was addressed to BOTH of us and hmmm...well inside I found this:

To thank me for doing Fair and Square and the work I put into it - she didn't finish it so that I could do it how I wanted to do it....which I had plans to stitch this lovely on my own someday and now I won't have to and in my mind it is a flatfold! So that it shall be someday soon - I hope!

Here it is again with the lovely letter from sweet Margaret. Margaret - thank you from the bottom of my heart...I cannot tell you how much this touched my heart...THANK YOU!

And here is Margart's sweet fob for the sweet girl Katie:

So sweetly done and so perfect for her - Pink of course is her favorite color! She loves it and put it on her favorite scissors immediately!

Margaret also sent a package of pens with cool black and white markings on them (like zebra, tiger, etc.) There were 4 in the package (1 for each Pfeiffer kid) and a package of stickers (4 pages - again 1 for each Pfeiffer kid) and the Pfeiffer kids have had a GREAT time writing and stitcking for the past day! I think the stitckers have all been stuck and the pens are still writing like a wonder! ;) Many BIG HUGS and kisses Margaret! Everything was so nicely stitched, so neatly presented in the package and done with your heart...thank you! We all loved our gifts! and may you and your DH travel safely to the homeland with Godspeed!

Until next time my dear stitching friends....stitch with joy!

  8. Vonna,
What lovely packages! I too want to say thank you for all that you do to inspire people and share your talents and creativity. I emailed you a few months ago and thanks to your words of encouragement, I am finally going to try to stitch on evenweave and linen. I have 2 projects kitted up to take on vacation with me. It is time to give more advanced stitching a try. Thank you for your encouragement and for sharing with us all!

  20. Oh my gosh, I don't know what to comment on first!

I guess the biggest exclamation point over my head has to do with the fact that you had FS partners who didn't fulfill their end of the exchange - I'm really shocked!! But how incredibly sweet and thoughtful to surprise you with all the "missing" exchanges and whole lot of goodies as well! WOW!

And I had no idea Margaret was moving back over here. How did that escape my notice? Must go over to her blog in a moment. That's a really darling gift she made for your Katie, and I love the PS 'quad' of seasonal designs. Can't wait to see your finish of it!

Take care! Use that time weighing on your hands wisely. LOL!!!!

    Hi
    I'm a stitcher from Portugal!
I found out your blog through another portuguese one that showed some of your finishes as a good example of out to finish a work, and I was amazed.
I added you to my Link list because some of the stuff you show here is really great. I don't usually comment but I couldn't resist this time because I just bought a four seasons scheme in Paris to make just as the one you got.
It made me really want to do it!
    Happy 4th of July!
