A finish for me!

Hello Friends! Hope you are all doing well....Indiana is slated for a winter storm of some kind...or at least that's what the weather man is saying....last time we were slated for a big storm here in Southern Indiana we were completely missed! So whatever happens, happens and I'm prepared, we have milk, bread, our cupboards are stocked, I'll gather my chicks together and round them back to the nest this afternoon and all will be ready for us to cozy down for a long winter's night.

Today I finished my first project using my Needlework System 4 floor stand. And all I can say is, I continue to love it. Here's what I finished stitching last night at approximately 8 p.m:

And here's how I finished it today:

Design: Hope Perches

Designer: Tanya Marie Anderson ~ The Sampler Girl

Stitched on 28 ct. Antique White evenweave using DMC

Finished as a pillow

I love it and its mine...my Mom was here this weekend and although I've got a lot of beautiful cross stitched items in my home...little or none of them have actually been stitched by me and she commented on the fact that I give almost everything I make away....so I'm going to become a little bit stingy for a bit and stitch some things for me :)

I'm coming down with something...I guess spending 12+ hours outside in the cold the past week messing with Girl Scout cookies is catching up with me. I'm not down and terrible, just beginning to feel a bit ill.....I'm drinking tea and settling in for the rest of the day, hopefully that will kick what's trying to take hold.

Until next time my dear friends, stitch happy!

  1. Hurray!!! You've finished something for yourself! And it's gorgeous!

Hope you kick whatever it is...or at least hope your stitching and tea are soothing :)

I was my daughter's troop leader for 4yrs and no one ever wanted to do a cookie booth, thank goodness!!!

I hope you feel better soon. I too feel like I am coming down with something. I just feel blah today. I have been drinking lots of fluids and taking Zicam so I hope that helps.

  12. Your pillow is so precious! I love that lace that you added, it really makes it. I also like that color blue with it. Lovely!

You should keep some things for yourself, isn't this one of the reasons we love this craft; to see the beauty and charm of it in our homes. I have been doing this for about 2 decades now and my husband says that I have 50 items just where we were sitting in the living room and I say No I don't have that many! So we counted them, there were over 40 items from what we could see in the livingroom and partial hallway. Some I had bought but mostly items that I had made over the years. My walls and curio cabinet and entertainment center and two other cabinets are all filled or have a few items on them. They really accumulate. you can see why I am starting to put items in scrapbooks. Oh, and I have given many away to my family members and friends too.

  25. Your pillow is beautiful and a great finish. I also, do not keep many of my stitching for myself. The very first stitching I made I gave to my Nan as Grandad had just passed away as I finished it. In return, when she passed away, it came back. I might put it my blog tomorrow.
    Anyway, enough of my musing.
    You have a BRILLIANT site!!

  53. Wonderful pillow : ) Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. It is a challenge [Alex has something, too & missed school] to keep bug-free.

I'm sick of the winter blasts. We have above freezing temperatures in the forecast for a couple hours & another round of snow flurries tonight - and bitter cold temps.
