Super de Duper Prize!

Good mail day today! Simone over at her blog had a contest this month for her 100th post and I won!!!!!!!

Here's the cutie that I won:

Thank you Simone, He's a sweetie and I shall cherish him always! :)

Next Up: Well, my DH went in to work this a.m. and he e-mailed me before I went to work, that he hit a deer :( First I asked if HE was ok? He wrote back saying "Yes, he was fine, but the car was dented on the hood". Then I asked was the deer dead? He wrote back to say, "No but it should be for denting the Breeze!" (model of our car - Plymoth Breeze)....LOL! I thought that was pretty funny because we joke about our "sports car" all the time between ourselves. It's red and 12 years old, it looks good, but its a stripped down model and our "work" car (that he and I drive to work only - since we both have to drive quite a way to work and it gets better gas mileage than our minivans). Although, now that I think about it, I don't know how great it will look with a big dent in the hood....

Thanks for all the good feedback on the floor stands/lap stands, etc. Don't know if I'll be getting one or not yet...especially with a car bill now....

No other pictures of what I'm stitching...I'm stitching just nothing I can show.... :( sad to say that my January goals are OUT THE WINDOW! But such is life...I've met some of them, but see as my first real goal setting experience, I may have been a little optimistic :)

Ok, until next time...I wish everyone to stitch happy!

  1. I nailed my first buck back in November, driving home down a dark back road. DH saw the deer and I screeched to a halt, but not before the deer took off across the road and ran right into my car. He dented the front quarter panel, the hood and even scratched the roof! DH said he took off running once he hit the ground. We were fine (and thank god the airbags didn't go off!) Glad to hear your DH is okay!

  6. Deer, so beautiful and so dumb! 12/26 my son headed out early for a day of snowboarding here in VT, and hit a deer...He and his brother were fine, the deer was dead and his jeep wrangler totaled!
They can do so much damage...Glad your husband was okay.
    RE: Goals...missed mine too :)

  7. So glad to hear your DH and vehicle survived that encounter. I agree - that deer is lucky to survive! Just think your car has even more character than before!
On stitching frames - I have over the years bought 3 and ended up giving them all away. Adriana taught me to stitch in hand and even on large pieces I still to. I used Q-snaps for my Crystal Tree because of the couching etc but normally I do it all in hand.

  8. Glad your DH is ok after the close encounter with the deer. Hopefully the car only suffered a "flesh wound" and won't be a big expense for you.

Cute snowman ornament! I love HE!

  11. What a cute pillow, and how perfect for this time of year. Sorry to hear that your DH hit a deer, but very glad that he's ok. We have lots of car/deer accidents around here and it is amazing how much damage they can do.

Good luck on the floor stand. I have one, a SWAN stand, and love it for my larger projects. It did take a bit of getting used to, but I pretty much put anything larger than an 8x8 Qsnap in it now (and sometimes the 8x8 ones too). My wrists have been so much happier once they didn't have to support that weight.

  12. Thank goodness your DH was ok after that terrible scare. Sorry to hear that the car is now dented I'm sure that was the least of your worries at the time. The deer hopefully will make it as well!

    About the floor stand .
. I have my dutch map in a floor stand just because it is to big to stitch in hand. I do enjoy working on it but only an hour or so. I mostly use a spring hoop which moves very easily. I also have a Q-snap for small odd size pieces and some fabrics.
    Good luck on the Quest!

  18. Yikes! Glad you husband is OK, and that the car has just a dent. We live in the country, and deers get hit a lot around here... most times there's lots of damage to the car and sometimes even to the drivers!

Fortunately it hasn't happened to us (yet) although Dh did hit a raccoon which cracked his radiator :(

  20. Sorry about the car! John has hit deer four times so far! Different trucks, but still it's a big expense to have to deal with. I've never used a frame, if you get one let me know if you like it! I love my Q Snap frames!

  21. How wonderful to win a prize!

Sorry to hear about the car/deer incident. I am always afraid this will happen as I drive into work... (I drive in at 4:30 in the morning!)

Have a great week, my friend!

  22. How nice to win Simone's 100th! Isn't he a cute snowman!
I once nearly hit a deer at midnight on a country backroad when we lived in NJ. I was coming home from a special event at work. It just scared me to death! The deer narrowly escaped, but I ended up hitting the neighborhood stray cat who was chasing the deer...poor ol' "Ratty Cat." He was a long, matted haired Tom who avoided all human contact no matter what we did. I was just devastated to have hit "Ratty." :[ Glad your husband wasn't hurt, Vonna. Hugs, Deb

  23. So glad your DH was OK. My DH came upon one early one morning going to work but thankfully he saw it and slowed right up while it had got out of the way. They can do so much damage.

Love your win from Simone. It's so cute!

That's scary stuff with the deer. We hit one when our son was a baby and it did a bit of a number on our Datsun. Then I had someone rear end me in the same car with Sean in it as a babe again. That poor car looked like pooh when we unloaded it.
I love winning stuff and what a cute prize you received!
