Something stitched and something received

I'm a participant in the Hello Neighbor! round robin and our next mailing date is Oct. 1. So I'm ahead of the game *for once* and finished my part of Dani's RR early! Here's what I stitched: Dani's RR is a fantasy themed neighborhood and I chose to stitch this knight. Doesn't he look really regal? I imagine him travelling from one kingdom to another with a missive from the King. He's from the kingdome of VP....LOL!....Dani wanted our initials on the piece but hidden somewhere, so I chose to put my initials on the flag. I really do love the colors of this knight's flag and horse dressings.

Here's Dani's complete layout...isn't it stunning?!

Next I received my squares from the Fair and Square. I had two partners this round because we had an uneven number of participants. This is my second set of squares and they are from dear Hannah. Aren't they cute?! Can't wait to make them into a pinkeep! As that is what I'm doing with all my squares :)

Well I had to work this weekend, it went fine :) I'm a bit tired out by the whole deal, but I'll get caught back up hopefully.
This week is WILD with things I have to do and places I have to go....we've got physicals for all 4 kids this week and if that isn't enough I have a girl scout leader meetings that I have to attend, orthodontist appointments for 2 kids and a cub scout meeting for my boys. YIKES!!!! This is not going to be a normal week. Plus Girl Scouts is giving me fits because they're split our county into 4 service units, they need help leading the leader meetings and no one will step up to do it. I feel like I'm getting pulled in about 100 directions to do it and I have whiney adult leaders e-mailing me complaining about the time of the meetings. You know I feel like if you have time to complain about it, then you have time to set it up yourself. I'm a little miffed off about the whole thing! I feel like I give and give and give to organizations and there are a few people that take and take and take but don't want to DO anything except COMPLAIN about it!!!!! Ok, well not my intention to drag all of that here on my *happy* blog...but it is effecting my life today and I needed to get it off my chest.
Until next time.....

  2. Great RR progress!

Good luck for a san week; sounds like the Girl Scout stuff will keep you busy! I'm glad Ben didn't want to do cub scouts anymore; it became such a chore in itself. It's too much for us with choir, baseball, etc. I sure love those Girl Scout cookies. LOL

Enjoy your week and hope the physicals go swiftly and don't make you wait in the good ol' waiting room too long. I hate that!

  3. Good luck with everything this week. I hope you get the Girl Scout thing resolved. I agree, often those that complain the most are the ones who never step up to volunteer for anything. Hang in there, girl!! Love the knight - what a wonderful addition to Dani's RR, it looks fantastic!

  5. Awww, Bless you, dear, sweet, friend. Amen, to all you said...you do GIVE AND GIVE AND GIVE...w/o very little in return...and I know I tell you this every once in awhile, but you deserve an award for all you do and all you put up with. You know I think you're awesome...an incredible mom/wife/friend/girl scout leader, stitcher...you name it...you have conquered it :) I for one have always thought you to be a superior and awesome person. If there's any GS stuff I can do don't hesitate to ask...and don't be afraid to say "no" to people...ha...I know I need to take that advice. Better to spend your time on your dear family and your amazing stitchings than worry about the other stuff :) Love ya lots, Kel :) P.S. and I agree with Michele...one day we'll look back on these crazy days of us doing too much and wonder where they've gone and (gasp) maybe miss them?! :) Keep smiling, my friend :)

    Hi Von,
The knight looks very regal on his stately horse. Love where you put the initials.

Wondered why I hadn't heard from you today. Too busy. Take care of those little guys and as for GS...let someone else step up for a change. You need the time for yourself for a change.

    Love you lots,
    Mom

  7. Oh, dearest Vonna, why do you let others drag you into these things? You have to say no sometimes, especially with such a busy household as yours! You know you can call on me any time you need help. Although I'm afraid I won't be much use in answering the nasty e-mails. Or in doing anything for the Girl Scouts. Well, okay then, consider me crossing my fingers for you that this week will just fly by.

  8. Wow, that's really something. In my year or so of reading stitching blogs, I've never seen a 'neighborhood' quite like this one. And Vonna, the knight is perfect!

  9. Vonna! I can see your pictures! I wonder why it is I can't see others? I shall never know! I love what you stitched for Dani. It fits right in with her RR. She did pick out a great design for her RR.
You're going to need a vacation after this week! I hope you are able to rest between all the appointments/meetings. You're in my thoughts.

  10. The knight is adorable! great job:)

I understand your feeling about the GS. I had the same thing happen when my girls were in it. It finally came down to where I had to put my foot down and say no..which isn't easy for me to do. I hope your chaotic schedule slows down:)

  13. Vonna, You did a great job with your knight. I love how you hid your initials in the flag.

Take it easy this week. I don't like the sounds of everything you have going on. We need to have a happy, smiling, cheery Vonna and her blog. :) *hugs*

  15. Vonna, what a fine piece of work on Dani's RR. It is absolutely perfect and you have done a stunning job. It shows you have taken the time to work out what is best for the piece. Again, great job!! The rest - file it under "working on my gray hairs"
Hope you have a good week.

  16. kathy a.'s "working on my gray hairs"... I like that... :o) Don't let them get you! BE the knight and slay them all!

  17. Oooh! I love the medieval theme. It's coming along really well. The squares are great. I think I should get involved in some sort of exchange...

  18. I'm not into fantasy stitching, but what a great idea for a RR. That's fantastic!

I decided that this year with PTO, CCD and dance class I'm going to sit on my hands, no matter how involved I want to get. I think I need one year to get used to the comings and goings before I throw myself in there. Besides, once you volunteer, they come to depend on you a lot. Good luck with your crazy week.

  19. I love Dani's idea for a fantasy RR! And your knight fits in perfectly!

  20. Yes, the knight is very regal! It looks as though he is there to make sure the RR travels safely.

Your little squares are so pretty! I think Bent Creek designs have a certain charm about them.

  21. Delightful knight for your RR & the blocks/squares are wonderful.

As for volunteering -- do what you can, and only you know your limits. My motto is 'family first' everything else 'after'

  22. Love the knight, and that RR is very unique, I love it! Both castles are gorgeous.

Sounds like you're having one of "those" weeks. Hopefully things will calm down a bit and stabilize with the Girl Scouts. Once things get through the organizational changes, maybe some other parents can be "encouraged" to step up and take some of the responsibility.

  23. That knight is so cool! Love your squares too.

  24. The knight is awesome, love the theme dani is using. I hope things worked out well with GS.

  25. Vonna,

Your knight looks wonderful on that piece! What a great choice and the colors are perfect. I hope your patience hold out. Some adults are 10x worse than kids.

  26. The knight is just so perfect for this neighborhood! Each time I see a post for this RR it breaks my heart even more that I didn't get it on it! Everything is so beautiful!

  28. Dani's RR is so cool! Your knight fits in there so nicely. I like where you hid your initials as well. Very inventive!
I remember so well what it was like when my boys were young and I was doing all that running. Keep telling yourself it's for the kids and try to forget about all those miserable adults!

  29. Love the colors you did the knight in!

There will always be someone acting like that when you volunteer. Times, dates and activities will never be perfect for everyone and there's always people that think everything revolves around them.

I just try to ignore the whiners, after so many years I'm getting pretty good at it;).

  30. Wow, what a neat addition to Dani's RR!!!!! And your squares from Hannah are adorable too!

  35. Since your next post has disappeared I'm hoping I can assume that you now have the patterns. I just received an email from our LNS that she does not have them. Isn't this the most amazing community we are part of? I love it!!!

Your square for Dani's RR is absolutely perfect and I love the way your initials have been worked into the design.

  36. Fantastic addition to this neighborhood RR! I have been observing the last couple of years since they became popular. I love how they have evolved into varying themes like Halloween, Fantasy, etc. And it gives you a chance to stitch something that you might not do for yourself. Dani's RR is perfect for her.

  37. The knight looks great and the initials in the flag are perfect.
Hope everything works our the GS, you may just have to say no thanks.

  38. Just know, once the scouts sucked you into a leadership role, you just about have to die to get out of it! I have been a leader for 11 years with the boy Scouts! As soon as Jacob earns his Eagle, I'm outta there! I love the little pillow! It looks so pretty!

  39. Putting your initials on the flag was brilliant. The Knight is amazing. Perfect for Dani's RR.
    Your stitching is always wonderful.

  40. The knight is fantastic, he looks perfect on Dani's RR, and how clever to put your initials in the flag.

Sorry you are being so challenged with the scouts lately, hopefully it all straightens out soon. I was a leader when my DD was younger and it amazed me then how few people really wanted to help but all the stuff they expected me to do on my own for them and the kids.
