My Ship has come...

Greetings friends...
my ship has come in...finally! May I introduce my:

2013 New Year's Eve Start
"Shores of Hawk Run Hollow"
by Carriage House Samplings

SHRH big boat 1

I started...
this beauty on New Year's Eve ringing in 2013 with my family. It wasn't the project I was going to start on NYE, however my husband loves this design and it will go perfectly in our Beach/Ocean themed bedroom....so *sigh* I did it for love. A girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do....

SHRH big boat water

I love...
SHRH big boat anchorthe sails of the ship. I think they look regal and majestic! And the compass and the anchor...pretty, pretty! Although before I got stitching the water (looks benign enough, but...) I was about ready to tie myself to that anchor and take the plunge. My heavens....blue X after blue X! Took me days! Because I kept getting up and running off, rather than fill in the water. Finally I tied myself to my chair and got 'er done!

I'm planning...
on stitching one block a month. Easy right?! We will see at the end of December 2013. :) I fail on many levels when it comes to very large projects such as these. But as of today, February 28, I am right on schedule! Since this counts as TWO blocks, Block #6 and Block #7...that's two down and ten to go! Rah, RAh, RAH!!!!

What's next?...
Hmm....I'll give you a hint....it involves a Sheep and a some Hearts.... ;o)

Until next time...
my dear stitching and blogging buddies, I'll be keeping my hands to work and my heart to God, just like always!

Hugs in stitches,
Vonna xxx

  3. It's beautiful. I've been working on this since it came out, but I keep getting intimidated by the amount of water and sails. I did work on it a little this weekend. Maybe I'll get more steady about stitching it.

  4. It is beautiful!! Even though you didn't like doing the water that part stands out the most with the waves.

  5. Vonna -- this looks AWESOME!! And I'm now feeling a lil guilty about playing around on the computer instead of finishing my Village of Hawk Run Hollow (lol -- just a LIL!) Have you seen the new Spring at Hawk Run Hollow? Which one is your favorite? I hope to stitch them ALL (better get a move on, huh? LOL!) Have fun with those sheep -- BAA BAA

  19. It's beautiful, Vonna! I want to stitch a Hawk Run Hollow pattern, but I feel convicted that I need to whittle down some of my stash first. Can't wait to see your progress.

  27. I loved stitching this!!! Yours looks beautiful! The hardest block was the tombstone, since it's completely filled in... but I loved it all. Keep it up, one a month is doable :)

  28. What a beautiful project. It's in my ever-growing to do pile.

Thinking of each block as a "finish" is a good way to think of it.

    Enjoy!

  29. It is a beautiful finish! I also have a monthly goal (CCN Santa's Village) and it has been a race each month to keep up. Your's looks even more ambitious! It is a beautiful design and I love that your husband is eagerly anticipating the completion!

  30. Yeah for you, Vonna! This is a huge project and I will enjoy watching your progress from month to month.

  31. Good for you! I stitched this design as well, and it's one of my favorites. It's actually framed and hanging in our living room. I did edit it somewhat and did 9 blocks instead of 12. I left off the three on the right side of the design, as they were not my favorites. Good luck on your goal to finish this one!

  32. That looks wonderful !! I love the color of your fabric.

  33. Looks great! Shores is so worth the effort -- I'll cheer you on!

  34. Beautiful stitching, Vonna. Can't wait to see more. Is this your first HRH?

I have Autumn at HRH but somehow it keeps getting pushed down the list.

    Keep up the great work.

  36. Oh that is just beautiful!!! The things we do for love eh :)

  37. Good Luck Vonna! Your first block looks wonderful. I started "Shores" after we went to Cape Cod. It is a slow go and I find myself wandering off to work on other things. I have finished Block 1 and am 1/2 way done with block 2. Maybe you will inspire me. I also just saw the new Spring at HRH that I would love to do but I will finish Shores first. I will, I will, I will.

BTW, thanks for dropping by my blog. :) For some reason several of the comments don't make it to my e-mail box (which they should) and I can't reply back. When I click on your name, I can no longer get to your blog. Is it because you're on Google+? Details, details, please! Wondering if I should investigate Google+? LOL

  54. That is one big, beautiful block, Vonna! One of my favorites on that design... Having done a block a month on Christmas at HRH three years ago, I know what a huge undertaking this will be (and I don't even have kids at home to chauffeur around any longer!!). I look forward to seeing your progress and your new LHN stitching...

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  59. And a fine vessel she is indeed!! I had a chuckle though at the thought of that anchor dragging you down. You've done a marvelous job on your block. I can't imagine taking on a project this big with such a busy life as yours. Kudos to you!
