No...
I'm not snowed in, but I did finish stitching this Fat Guy that is snowed in :)

Here's where my entire project stands as of this moment. I am stitching all 6 Fat Men on one piece of linen and I've got lots of ideas about how to finish this seasonal cutie.
I love to decorate our home "with the seasons" so this one won't be framed as it will only be out for one part of the year. But like I've said, I'm spinning around different options in my brain each time I stitch on it. So have I sold you guys on these handsome fatties? :) If not, how can I get you to capitulate? These are so fun to stitch, sort of just easy, ya know?! And after something as hard as the Quaker Virtues page I just got done stitching, easy peasy made for a nice change.
Can I also say...
I have really fallen for this Amber Linen, both in texture and color. So much so I bought some more of it (1 yard) for another project that I am starting over. Here's a little secret.....I started BBD's Anniversaries of the Heart last year. I struggled with linen colors as you know we didn't see all of the designs and that first design was so muted in colors and tone. Well anyway...I did January's and February's designs and just didn't like the way they looked on the linen I chose.
As I have been stitching on the Fat Guys...
I kept on thinking how pretty the color of the linen is against the colors and I kept thinking about the projects that I want to work on in 2012 (I know....) and I just bit the bullet and bought a yard and am going to start January's design well....in January. But you know how I am with my big ideas that never come to fruition....so I'm just zipping my lip and we'll see what January brings.
That does it for me today folks...
so until next time I'll be keeping my hands to work and heart to God, just like always!
Hugs and love,

Vonna --
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE your 6 Fat Men! I have all my charts and just need to get the linen and fibers. Seeing yours has really given me the bug:)) and I LOVE the amber linen too.
Can't wait to see how you are going to finish this one:))) Something to look forward too!
Those are just the cutest. Now I have to check out that Amber linen. Always hard to find just the right color!
ReplyDeleteOh my...those are just adorable...and I love that fabric...I just wish I had some time to do all I want...those are too cute not to do...somewhere...maybe I can find the time...
ReplyDeleteThe snowmen look, oh, so fabuloso!!!! I tried the Amber linen once and it was so stiff that I hated it, but maybe I am thinking of the wrong one? LK used Toasted Almond Cashel in a kit last year and I just love, love, love that fabric. I think it is the same color as the Amber? I totally get what you mean about keeping your lips zipped about projects and ideas. I too feel like a giant boob sometimes when I post something on my blog and I either change my mind or don't do it. But your projects are always fab and everything you stitch and make is great, so I'm sure everything will turn out. Ok. Now that I have written you a book, I will stop! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE wichelt linen! If only they made a black (I am pretty sure they don't, at least...)
ReplyDeleteGood going on your new project!
they are all so cute..i love them so much xx
ReplyDeletelooking great Vonna!!!! And I DID get this fabric!! I have lots of ornaments to do before I start this, but maybe it will be my new year's start, if not before...
ReplyDeletewon't be next week....something about 3 little boys being here....
Your progress is looking great Vonna ;)
ReplyDeleteYour Fat Guys look great. ;) Really, super fantastic on that fabric! I have been toying with getting the charts but I have a drawer full of seasonal designs that I have yet to stitch. I always think of seasonal stuff & keep stitching all-year samplers. I'm trying to change that. I can't wait to see more of your fat guys! ;)
ReplyDeleteI also can't wait to hear/read about all of your 2012 plans. I'm obsessing about them, too--it's so fun to think about that instead of checking out the news! LOL
Vonna, that is absolutely adorable. Those colors just pop and the snowmen look almost 3-D. Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have my charts, I just can't decide what fabric to use, or if I should dye my own.
ReplyDeleteYour Snowed In piece is simply adorable! Keep showing them and you might convince another to fall in!

The fat snowmen are cute, can't wait to see how you finish this project. BTW, thanks for your comment on giving the love quilts info to the family I'm praying for. I couldn't figure out how to reply to your comment.
ReplyDeleteLove those fat little snow guys! So cute. look forward to your progress.
ReplyDeleteAmber linen...hmmm. You know, I think I have some of that in my stash. I should look. It certainly makes those snowmen pop! Love your progress!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad about AotH. I spearheaded a little SAL and totally fell off the wagon with only 3.5 completed. I need to get back to it...someday. Just not feeling it now.
Wow, those snowmen really jump out on that linen. Just love them!! This is going to be a wonderful finish!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Fat Men series and they look great on that fabric.
ReplyDeleteThey are just precious! Can't wait to see your 2012 starts - Oh, wait, your starts in 2012... that's better! : ) 2012 starts might be a little more than any of us could do! : )
ReplyDeleteThe snowmen are adorable. My monitor shows the linen as gray. Amber is the one linen that I couldn't get to change much during the bleaching and dying process. Mine is 20 years old and very reddish, but it is a beautiful shade. Can't wait to see the finish!
ReplyDeleteI love how your snowman piece is growing. You're so right, they're cute, fat, cuddly, adorable snowmen, and a fun stitch. I'll be interested to see how you finish yours, since I'm doing mine on one piece of linen as well.
ReplyDeleteI really love these. I might have to add to my wish list. Can I ask how big the linen is - what do you think it will measure when you have all 6 of them stitched? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You can't go wrong with Lizzie Kate, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Vonna! I just love it! I have to get these charts!
ReplyDeleteAnother snowman lover here. I have these patterns in my stash. I like your color choice of fabric, really makes the white threads stand out. I look forward to how you decide to finish this, you are so creative so I'm sure it will be adorable.
ReplyDeleteVonna your snowmen look great and yes I adore your choice of linen. I will look out for that next time. It seems to make the colours of the threads pop! x
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big LK fan normally...but your snowmen are making me rethink it :)) Maybe it is the contrast with the beautiful amber linen?
ReplyDeleteThose fat men are adorable, but I am resisting so far.... That could be because we DID get snowed in - which I love -but this time we lost power for 4 days....aarrrrrghhhh.
ReplyDeleteWho makes the amber linen you are using? It looks great and the white letters just pop....I think need some...
I am confused, one of your post on the 6 fat men said you were using Amber and one said mocha.
ReplyDeleteLove how they are looking, i am going to do them and I am going to kit them up for DIL for one of her Christmas presents.
Love all your work, you are an inspiration to me. I just love Virtues, it is one I haven't gotten yet, but would love to do it.
Love reading your blog too.
Judy
I love these fat snowmen. I have the charts just have to find time to stitch them. Can't wait to see how you finish them.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to add these to my stash too! Very cute. Can't wait to see what wonderful finishing idea you come up with...
ReplyDeletehappy stitching...
Your stitching is gorgeous Vonna and those fat guys are so cute! Even before you said it I was admiring the color of that linen.
ReplyDeleteVonna, before I even read your post through, I scrolled back up to see if you gave info on the linen. I really like it! Great minds again, huh?
ReplyDeleteYour snowman project will be great. I can envision it with some of that white Pom Pom trim. That would give a nice snowball effect.
Hugs,
Julianne
Love your Fat Men! I have been debating about getting these and you have just about pushed me over the edge!! Thanks for the tip on the linen color, always looking for just the right color!
ReplyDeleteSo cute; I just ordered the 2nd set of 3, they should be here tomorrow or Thursday; I already have the linen & threads...I just ordered a piece of this linen also; it's too pretty; don't know what I'll stitch on it yet; I'll decide that later..LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs, Shar
I have the first 3 patterns and plan on getting the next 3 and doing them on one piece also. PTP was suggesting one of their blue fabrics. I wish someone would start stitching them on it so I can make up my mind! I'll be anxious to see your finishing idea on this one.
ReplyDeleteWould you please share where you purchased your fabric for 6 Fat Men? Does the 'shop' have a website? I don't have a local shop and would need to order it, but I would love to do so. You have been such an inspiration to me with your stitching and your faith in God. Thank you for any information you can give me.
ReplyDeletePaula
The snowmen are adorable, but that fabric! It just makes them pop.
ReplyDelete*makes a note of the name*
Very cute snowmen!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you come up with for a finish on the snowman design. Those snowmen are so cute!

Your snowmen are gorgeous
ReplyDeleteLove your snowmen! I think they are always in season and insist on keeping just a few out all year round. Can't wait to see the rest of the snowmen being built.
ReplyDeleteYour snowmen look gorgeous. I'm so sold on these. Can't wait to see how you finish it and what you plan to stitch next year.
ReplyDeleteThe Snowmen series is looking really good - the colours do really stand out against that lovely amber fabric. Wichelt fabric is lovely to stitch with - I am using some blue at the moment and it is great.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Kaye xoxox
Lovely, really lovely! How Christmas is getting around the corner so fast...
ReplyDeleteHugs
Very cute snowmen! :o)
ReplyDeleteCathi
Though not generally a fan of snowmen, I do have to admit yours have a certain appeal. They looks so happy. And I do know what uou mean about certain fabric colors. For a while, a year or two ago, I seemed to stitch everything on Starquest [blue] or Autumn Sunrise [amber] from Silkweaver.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute snowmen! Great design - good luck!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Tatyana
Oh, they really make me smile, Vonna!! And that fabric looks wonderful--I'll have to check out that amber linen...thanks for the tip!

ReplyDeleteI love your snowmen! Your stitching is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love how yours are looking Vonna. I finished Snowed In this week and started Snow Friends. I didn't like the amber linen much to begin with but now I'm used to it I really like it :)
ReplyDeleteyou got me!! I just got 3 of the patterns and the threads yesterday....i loved the look on my monitor of the gray color of linen...so picked a 'confederate gray' color to go...thanks for the inspiration....:D
ReplyDeleteI just love how this project is turning out, Vonna! It is so darn cute!!! I like the linen, too. I was thinking when you first posted this, that the colors really "pop" on it.
ReplyDeleteDonna in WV
Aww Vonna.... I love this!!! It's too cute!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThe snowmen are sooooo cute!! I'm getting ready to order them. The site that I'm ordering the patterns doesn't carry Wichelt. Could you please tell me where a good site to order it would be? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love this series. It's going to be a beauty.
ReplyDeleteJackie
