to my dear friends! We've reached the dog days of summer and the temperature and humidity gauge in good 'ol Indiana (and many other places of the US of A) is showing snarling hot temperatures. But the good 'ol weather man says that some cooler air is headed to Indiana and all I can say is, "Bring it on weather man, bring. it. on."
I just...
slipped the last few stitches in a fallish project that had me snarling like a dog, rather than fondly thinking of gourds and pumpkins. For the life of me, I couldn't stitch the top and bottom satin stitched bands correctly and I frogged them THREE TIMES. I very nearly wadded the whole project up and threw it in the corner ~ but thanks to the moon cycle, low hormone levels and a clear head ~ I prevailed in my efforts and here, without further ado, is my finish:
"Three Crows"
Designed by: The Goode Huswife ~ Anne Brown

Stitched on 40 ct. lambswool
Stitched with DMC
This cutie...
will go in my finish drawer for a future "great frame up". I've spent a lot of dough-re-mi on framing in the last two months and I don't want the mister to go stark raving mad over the credit card bills...so to the drawer it goes for a future date with a framer :)
Next up...
well, I'll let you contemplate that as I start my next project. I'll give you a hint it deals with two of my great loves ~ Penny Rugs and America!
Until next time...
I'll be keeping my 'hands to work and heart to God' just like always! How about joining me?
Hugs and love,

Oh to be able to "finish" everything when it's actually finished! If only it weren't so expensive.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting my Three Crows pattern out immedidately. Such a grea piece and finish. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you can breathe easier now that you've finished that piece. It's such a cutie and looks great photographed next to that cute crow statue.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece Vonna!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Another nice finish and I'm so glad the frog has left. He had better not be hopping over to Ohio. I'm so ready for fall after the way too hot for me summer. I look forward to your next stitching piece.
ReplyDeleteHappy Stitching !!
It looks beautiful, Vonna! Congratulations on the finish. Even though we aren't getting very warm temps (mid 60s here!), I am in an autumnal mood. Or maybe it's because of the cooler temps. ;) I love your finish--and the crow figurine is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI like that alot...very nice...great for Fall! I love that other little crow too!!
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable hun; sew it into a pillow w/crows on it; I know that would be so cute and cheaper then framing. LOL I know what you mean; I threw my project across the living room the other night and Kenny just sat on the couch looking at me like I'm a crazy lady!! LOL Menapause is making me a Jeckle-Hyde person right now. LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs, Shar
very cute finish Vonna! sometimes those little ones really trip you up dont' they. HOT is the key word of the day - we have heat advisories again today - just so thankful for a/c and the money to pay the bill LOL - enjoy your last days before the kiddos head back to school. Melody
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet finish!!!! I love it. And I think that Penny Rug piece is wonderful too, can't wait to see your progress on it.
ReplyDeleteLove that GH pattern too! Very nicely stitched my friend and love those colors. Sorry to hear about the FROG visit. I had that problem with Mystery Sampler and did quite a bit of ripping out!!! It gets frustrating. We are also getting some cooler weather and makes summer more enjoyable. Keep the needle busy!

What a great finish Vonna! Makes me think of wonderful upcoming Fall days:))
ReplyDeleteLove the Crows! I think I might have an inkling as to the project next on your list. It might be the same one I received a couple of weeks ago ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove your Three Crows!! It's really a great piece. Can't wait to see it framed!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Three Crows finish! It is gorgeous even though it gave you fits! I am thinking your new start is one of the latest from Tree of Life Samplings. Enjoy!

Oh he's beautiful !!! I'm sure he'll behave in the drawer until youand the framer can bond, and I'm so glad he didn't end up wadded in a ball in the corner. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your little crow finish, sorry that is gave you some trouble.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your next piece.
Teresa's Heartfelt Stitches
Love it! This is totally one I have been wanting to stitch for a while now. :D
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely Vonna and good on you for sticking with it. x
ReplyDeleteIsn't that funny how it happens with a piece that give you fits. I had a snowman head that I had to put in three times before I liked the way it looked...it is so cute though! I like the Three Crows - is very cute and the satin stitch border looks great.
ReplyDeleteSorry about all the frogging but the piece is really lovely.
ReplyDeleteWell, it may have taken a few tries, but your piece certainly looks perfect now! Can't wait to see what is next.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it gave you some trouble but it finished up lovely.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the gorgeous finish Vonna. Love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish! Congratulations Vonna!
ReplyDeleteVery cute finish! Sorry it gave you a fit before it decided to behave! lol..It looks great now though! Guess you showed it who's boss, huh? =)
ReplyDeleteGosh that is SO perfect!!!!!!! I love crows and these three definitely are super special!!! I love that cute guy in the photo too, heck I just love BIRDS!!!!
ReplyDeleteNo one would know you had problems with it, you did a super splendiforous job, purdiful, just purdiful, dear one!!

Another beautiful finish...a little frogging was worth the prize. Would your next adventure be by Tree of Life Samplings?

I am glad you persevered as this is a wonderful piece. Guess who else is going to make a start on Penny America tonight? Bet you'll be finished before I am! LOL
ReplyDeleteSo pretty as always...
ReplyDeletehappy stitching on your next project....
Oh gosh, I know what your next project is! Do you know, does Jan sell her fabric yet? I want to order that chart but I want to order the fabric too. Anyway, I love your finish! Such a bummer about having to frog so much though. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteReally? You had to frog three times? Now I don't feel so bad about all my mistakes. Beautiful finish that was worth the frustration.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen this pattern before - I LOVE IT !!!!! Wonderful finish :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes we have the hardest time with the simplest of things. I generally chalk it up to fatigue.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic design though and you've done a marvellous job!
What was it with the frogging last week? Thought the wtn&t boaf mystery would have a hole in the grass! I'm happy to be out of that valley! That's a darling finish, and love the figurine. With that giant hint, I'm guessing it's Penny America - in my stash, too. Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteLove this piece, Vonna. I am amazed yet not surprised that your piece shows no signs of the 3 frog visit. Well-done. :) Cathryn
ReplyDeleteMust have been quite frustrating to frog three times!! But what a lovely finish
ReplyDeleteGreat finish on Three Crows. I have one of those finish drawers also. Luckily I only have one more project to frame in it right now. We have been promised cooler weather on Thursday and Friday after showers today and tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish Vonna! I love the bird ornament you've displayed with it too.
ReplyDeleteNow that is what I call patience! Your work has paid off with a very cute finish!
ReplyDeleteVery nice finish! I had a frogging experience on my Totin' Hare...stitched and frogged the carrot tops twice only to realize after stitching the third time that they had been correct the first time! I was reading the chart wrong was my problem...took looking back at the color picture to realize my mistake...only 3 carrots in the basket not 4! lol
ReplyDeleteBet I know what your next project is!! I have been tempted by that one myself!
I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove love love it!! So glad that life is treating you better, lol. The design is really nice, Judith
ReplyDeleteVery nice finish Vonna, as always. And I love crows..
ReplyDeleteVonna! You do such beautiful work. Glad you didn't wad it up and toss into the corner. And you only frogged 3 times? Lucky! I'm a professional frogger! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and love seeing your beautiful stitched pieces. They inspire me.
Love the crows and I JUST ordered the Penny America for myself. I can't wait to get it and stitch it - it's so pretty!
