Today...
I picked up my two fair entries, I'm mighty happy to say that my Family Sampler took Champion for its class! It also took a Honor Ribbon and today when I picked up my pieces, the supervisor for Needlearts told me that the judge "really struggled with who to name Grand Champion" in the needlearts and I guess my Family Sampler was among the two she was struggling over!
And...
Sarah Seifer is a 1st Place - Blue Ribbon Winner!
I was thrilled to bits....
as this was my first ever time to enter anything in the fair as an adult in the "Open Class Exhibits". I decided that next year I'm going to try to enter a few more projects and I'm going to shoot for "Grand Champion" overall of the Needlearts Category. I've got to get busy!
But to commemorate my first year and the ribbons my stitching won...
I purchased a shadow box and it now hangs in my sewing room and will be a fond memory for me to look upon as I stitch and sew in my room.
Thank you so much for allowing me to share my exciting, good news with all of you!
Until next time...
I'll be busy keeping my 'hands to work and heart to God'.
Hugs and love,

A BIG congrats to you. Can't wait to see what you come up with for next year.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! They are beautifully stitched. What a great idea to put the ribbons in a frame for your stitching room. There's a needlework show in this area every year in March--Woodlawn--and you have to submit your entries by Jan/Feb sometime, and since I've never entered anything, I'm really shooting for that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Your stitching is beautiful, and the ribbons are well deserved.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Vonna! Your family sampler is beautiful! I have admired it since you first posted it on your blog. Ya know, we have that chart in the store and haven't sold a one! I just don't get it. Guess I should stitch it up and I bet it would sell then. Anyway, all your stitching is gorgeous and I am thrilled you were recognized for it at the fair. Carole (she was at the retreat you taught at) keeps going on about how fast you stitch and your technique. She was so impressed by it! She also says you are a hoot!

ReplyDeleteAmazing!!! Congratulations!! I miss fairs...=( they don't have them here in Japan, and the year before we moved here (before I knew we were moving) I was thinking about entering something in our fair in Abilene TX, then by the following summer we'd moved...so it was a no go! =( You did great Vonna! So proud of you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Vonna !! How cool is that to win the ribbons. You should be so proud. Great too that others visiting the fair got to see your beautiful stitching.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Vonna -lovely work and the ribbons are well-deserved. I didn't get a chance to comment on your last post either but love all the newly-framed pieces you got. It's so gratifying to get them back looking so fantastic isn't it? Someday I hope to be totally caught up with framing and be able to finish a piece and take it right in. (this may never happen....) ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces are all beautiful Vonna - great choice on frames and WOW - BIG congratulations on your wins at the fair. You have a right to be very proud of your accomplishments and I agree - I also can't understand people who do no handwork - but then it is such a part of my life - I guess it is just too tedious for everyone to enjoy - we are so blessed - enjoy them all ! Melody
