Good Day Friends....
I awoke this morning and could tell there was magic in the air. So I hopped out of bed and came down the stairs and this is what greeted my eyes, the Harvest Fairy had obviously visited me during the night.....
Our Mantle....
My Wool Applique hearth rug...
A primitive view...
The harvest fairy found....
my prim pumpkins that I made this weekend out of muslin. I sewed, stuffed, grunged, painted, sanded, grunged again, and fixed the tops of these cuties all weekend and just finished them right before bed last night. I'm glad she put them here so that I can look at while I stitch.
And I was delighted to see....
that she had taken my Grandpap's old feed scoop and put it in my little red wagon with some fall florals inside.

I thought that was all of my surprises....
until I came around the corner and saw my Granny's China cabinet all duded up too!

And....
I don't think I ever told you about this cabinet. Over the summer my brother gave me the cabinet (which he had taken when my Granny passed away), he didn't need it any longer so I took it. Then I had the good fortune of my Dad passing on my Great Grandmother's China to me. Two sides of the family melded together in perfect harmony! I love it! The China Pattern is "Royal Mail" by Myott.

Oh and look that sneaky fairy even placed a grapevine pumpkin on the serving platter inside.
I had to feed my hummingbird herd....
so I went outside and was astonished to find that the Harvest Fairy had been there too! She found those Harvest Hunnies that I had bought at Joann's this weekend and placed them on either side of the door and she found all my pumpkins too....that busy fairy!

She found the perfect gourd....
to put in the urns on either side of my driveway. Isn't this just perfect?! Love that shape!
But my most favorite thing of all....
was the big white pumpkin arrangement that she put on the door. This is my own original idea - I'd not seen it anywhere before, but I've been thinking about it for a long time. So on Friday evening I made it by cutting the back and stem off of one of those craft pumpkins, filled it with foam, wired the back shut and arranged the autumn florals inside. That Harvest Fairy found it and put it right where I wanted it and it looks just as good as I thought it would! I need a television show! LOL!
Boy....
that fairy sure did work hard this weekend, and on labor day no less! But I guess that's what happens when the fairy is left alone because her family has gone camping and she had to work during the day at the hospital only to come home to an empty house and wonder what to do for 4 long evenings. . . . so she did the best thing she knew how and got busy crafting and cleaning and decorating....apparently while I slept
Whew....then why am I so tired? But I'll be welcoming my crew home to a perfectly clean and autumnal decorated home :) Thanks Harvest Fairy!
Until next time....I'll be keeping my "hands to work and heart to God".
Hugs and love,

It's all so beautiful Vonna! I need a Harvest Fairy too!

ReplyDeleteDo you know if your Harvest Fairy makes house calls?? She did an incredible job! !
ReplyDeleteI love your china cabinet and the china inside. The cobalt blue is my accent color, and I have cobalt blue depression glass goblets and wine glasses that would look beautiful with your china.
I wanted to let you know that I used two of your tutorials this weekend to much success. Thank you very much. I will post pictures (and let everybody know the brains behind the finishes) when I get back from MB in October. Just wanted you to know I was grateful now.
Wow - what imagination! Could you send your fairy my way? My fairy only works for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful. Hopefully, the kids will admire your hard work with their eyes and not their hands.
Smiles - Denise
Very nice Vonna! Could you send the harvest Fairy here next? I think the only decorating I'll be doing is to plop to white pumpkins on the mantel in place of the 2 white pitchers that are currently there.
ReplyDeleteGreat job....wish you could give that fairy some directions to my SC! Love your pumpkins you made....they are too cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very nice Harvest collection! Love all of it!I am tempted, but it is still summer here in Va. Beach... gonna be 90-ish tomorrow, and high 80's rest of the week. Maybe when it is a bit cooler. Thanks for sharing.
