my dear friends! At the culmination of our July 1st Canada festivities, I knew I was *this close* to wrapping up my current WIP that I kept a secret from you all. So I awoke this morning bright and early and got to work and finished this beautiful, wonderful project. Without further ado, may I present to you:
"From Sea to Shining Sea"
Collaboration Thread Pack Series
Designed by: Little House Needleworks ~ Diane Williams
Silk Threads Provided by: Crescent Colours ~ Sharon Crescent
Stitched on: 28 ct. Belfast color: Summer Sky

I started....
this beauty while travelling to Florida on our summer vacation. The reason I chose it was because, as you stitched you travelled from West to East Coast and although I wasn't travelling that direction, I was travelling from the Midwest, to the mountains of the Appalachia and on to the sands and water of the beach. I thought it poignant. You know me and my deep thoughts....
I also decided to pack these thread packs because....
ease of travel. I only had six little packs to take that already contained all the threads and the patterns ~ all I had to provide was the fabric, needle and will power to stitch it. EASY! I put everything inside the same little bag that each individual pattern came in and I was good to go. So when you are travelling this summer...give the idea a whirl. The collaboration thread packs are perfect travelling companions.
Crazily....
like all of us mad hatter stitchers that have this idea that "Oh that's not so much to stitch..." or "I'll be done with this in a snap" I thought (stupidly) that I could get the majority of this done by the time I returned home from vacation. Why don't you all join me in a round of maniacal laughter!? What was I thinking? I didn't even get the border done prior to our return trip home cause I was too busy....vacationing! :)
However....
no matter, because once I got home and this beauty started coming to life as I finished pack after pack, I slowly started falling in love. By the last X made just a few short minutes ago, I can firmly say, I am totally in love with this piece. Does it not just scream "Vonna"? Does it not just say, "Hang me there on Vonna's wall"?! Oh I've got ideas for you my precious....many ideas. And the first is to get you all framed up using my coupon from Michael's. Soon my pretties....soon.....
So....
that's a wrap! Now its off to herd my kiddos into bathing suits, pack a cooler and slather on some sunscreen because we're off to the pool, baby! It's FRIDAY! Yeah!
Until next time...
I'll be keeping my "hands to work and heart to God"...
P.S.
This great land of ours is varied and wonderful. A site to behold, but just for the record books - I'm proud of my little piece of the pie and my Mid-Western roots. There is no place like home!

Love your finish! Everytime you look it you will be reminded of your wonderful vacation to Florida with your family. Even though you finished it later it's still finished!
ReplyDeleteI think we all think our fingers can move faster than they really can. That's why we have such large stashes!
Have a great weekend and enjoy your family!

ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! Sea to Shining Sea is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWahOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Congrats on a beautiful finish. I hear you on thinking you'd get something done faster than it actually happens. That is always the case for me, as is not getting much done on vacation. Fantastic finish, and very timely for the 4th!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful Vonna! Just in time for the 4th! Funny how we always think that we'll get something done long before we do. I'm surprised that you can stitch at all on vacation. I used to try, but I'd get a couple stitches and one of the kids would need something. It just never happened. Have a wonderful 4th!!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!!! I love this design and it's definitely on my must stitch list!!! I'm sure everytime you see this beauty you will remember the wonderful time you had on your vacation~~~~
