Now then...
I have a question: have you ever used Vicki Clayton's conversions? If so would you e-mail me privately to let me know what you stitched and how you felt about it, please? I have a couple of conversions I'm thinking about buying....but I've never used her fibers before and would like some feedback.
Until next time...
"hands to work and hearts to God"~
hugs and love,
Vonna

Cute pin cushion. Sorry can't help with your conversion.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeletebeautiful finish Vonna, I just received this chart yesterday can't wait to stitch it up
ReplyDeleteMy mom uses Vikki's silks EXCLUSIVELY! She's a fan of them, and I must say, for the price, you can't beat them. I also think that they're fantastic...and they DONT FRAY OR SHRED like many other silks. Most conversions are fairly accurate. I would maybe recommend getting some to do some monochromatic things in first, to see if you like them. You can also get "samples" of her floss...kind of like a color card from DMC. My mom has these, and each time she starts something she can pull out her samples and compare and decide. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeletePretty bluebird, I just ordered that pattern, I think..... I have to hole up in the house for a week so I can get caught up....I know I haven't finished anything yet.
ReplyDeleteI feel really bad..... but I love to look at your work and dream about mine!!!!
Hugs,
Margaret B
I love the pin cushion! My pattern just came in the mail and I am going to stitch it on flax fields with GAST Wrought Iron.
ReplyDeleteLovely finish!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy Vikki's silks. I'm using the conversion for Noah's stocking right now and compared to the DMC, I think it's a good conversion. I don't have the NPI in my stash to compare it to, though, and of course that's what the model is actually stitched with.
I emailed you about these. I like her floss a lot and she is SUPER nice.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish, Vonna! I really like it on the Mello fabric!

What a gorgeous gift, Vonna! The extra touches of the safety pin and the buttons make it extra special.
ReplyDeleteThis is very nice and of course the finishing is wonderful as usual.
ReplyDeleteCute Pin Cushion. I have order this chart. Can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gift Vonna!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful gift, Vonna! I saw it on Amy's blog -- I know she loves it!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely Vonna. I can't help with the conversion part but I can tell you Vikki's silks are a dream to stitch with and much more colorfast than some of the other silks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift, Vonna! I bet Amy was tickled to death with it. :) I also wanted to tell you that I LOVE your new picture..and your hair. VERY pretty, gf!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a darling gift!
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling finish! I personally love VC silks but have never done a full blown total conversion. Hope you are having a great Spring!
ReplyDeleteLove the Bluebird. The buttons are a great addition.
ReplyDeleteIf you try the VCs I would be interested to hear your opinion as I have not tried them yet either.
Beautiful finish Vonna!
ReplyDeleteWonderful finish, Vonna! I've got this, just gotta get around to stitching it!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful gift :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Vonna, and I love the buttons!
ReplyDeleteVonna, Beautiful finish.

Patty
Beautiful finish - I am sure Amy will love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift! Beautiful stitching & finishing as always, Vonna. :)
ReplyDeleteI've purchased a couple of Vicki's conversions and was very pleased with them. I've also used her silks on other projects that I kitted myself and weren't her conversions. Her silks are always lovely to stitch with and you can't beat the price! If you have any other questions, just let me know. :)
this bbd blue bird is so lovely
ReplyDeleteSweet little pincushion - I love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely finish Vonna, the buttons really finish it off :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as HDF silks are concerned, I think the colours are lovely and they're wonderful to stitch with. However, the conversions/dyelots aren't always as accurate as I'd like. JMO.
What a perfect little pincushion, love it!
ReplyDeletePretty little pincushion.
ReplyDeleteI am stitching with VC at the moment and I love them. They don't fray, slide through the fabric beautifully and look wonderful. I'm using a color called Sue-Purple-ous and it's gorgeous. The threads are so smooth, they sometimes slide off the needle lol.
When I use silk I use VC exclusively for my designs and recommend them to everyone. Very inexpensive and high quality. Vikki is super nice and will be happy to work with you, just email or contact on her forum. She has converted and made silk kits available for my patterns and I've been very happy.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Vikki Clayton silk threads! I love the premium to use on 28,32 and 35ct. It give great coverage using one strand only. I use the regular on 35ct (yes again), 36, 38ct and 40ct.
ReplyDeleteMy projects are too numerous to count and I have TONS MORE kitted up. I love making pincushions out of them. Quick to stitch up using one strand! You can request a sample from Vikki. Go to her website and see on the homepage! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I discovered Vikki Clayton silks about a year and a half ago - I really try to use her silks exclusively. She has a conversion for all the DMC colors and many many varigated flosses too. I have not been disappointed yet. It doesn't fray or shred at all and is colorfast. I couldn't recommend them enough - you will not be sorry you tried them. they are also very economical compared to the other silks. I have never tried the premium but I'm sure it is the same.
ReplyDeleteI love both your birds from BBD - those were the two things from Nashville Market that really took my fancy - I haven't gotten them yet but plan to soon.
Beautiful BBD finish
ReplyDeleteThe bluebird is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI can't help with conversions but I can tell you that I have used VC silks and I love them. They're what I used on my Cirques des Cercles and I recently purchased more for the Ink Circles Winter Mandela. They were a dream to work with.
Pretty tweeters! Always love your work. HDF are my favorite silks because they're less expensive and lovely to stitch with. I started using them for embroidery, but do love the lucious feel for cross stitch!
ReplyDeleteA lovely pillow with some wonderful finishing touches.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish, I really love the accents.
