I've not gotten much accomplished anywhere on anything so I thought I'd share some recent happenings at the Pfeiffer Haus....
Ian and Jake started Tae Kwon Do yesterday. Here's the obligatory pictures to show off their new TKD duds. And before I get questions, yes they really, truly are twins, and Jake really is tall for his age, it is just that Ian is going to be a huge man one day. He's about 6 inches taller and 40 pounds heavier than Jake. Jake is just a scrawny chicken like his paternal grandpa (looks like him too).
Katie....
is so cool she can hardly stand herself! :) She's a preteen...what do you expect?
doesn't care about being cool...she just wants to sit in her tent and eat Cheetos undisturbed. Here she is peeking out from her "tent", the remains of the Cheetos is the orange discoloration on the corner of her mouth :) Sweet girl....

Goals...
was awarded with her 16 weeks of attendance charm today from Weight Watchers and I feel like I need to wear it like an amulet - but instead I hung it from my rear view mirror :)
I have a long way to go yet and many more pounds to lose for good, but I was proud to earn this charm and know that I've been fighting the good fight for 16 weeks. I've had people that have left comments about it being easy to lose weight. It is not easy. I am a scientist and I understand less in, more movement, more off - but if it were easy no one in the world would be fat. I'm fat. I admit it. Food is my drug of choice and it is a struggle each and every day to deny myself my drug. Simple as that. Sometimes I fail, but for the past 16 weeks, I've won. And the steps I've made this far will be the impetus to get me to the big goal. I'll be a weight watcher for the rest of my life. But I can win and with Weight Watchers I will win. If any one out there is thinking of the program, take the step - it is backed up with years of scientific data. It's a great program based on every day foods, that we all have in our pantry. You can have anything you want to eat. You just can't eat the whole box.

Goals...
I've met my goals that I had set to date. So my leader was telling us last week that we have to make sure to set new goals and when we set them we also need to pick what our reward will be when we meet them. I've been thinking of what my reward will be. I know what my goal will be. It will be another 25 lbs weight loss. I was thinking a good reward would be a small tattoo of a needle with thread swirling through it. Just a small one on my ankle in black. I asked my husband if I could do that and what did he think about it - and I wish I had been filming it. The look on his face was priceless. In fact, I think if I had been filming it, I could have won 10K on America's Funniest Videos. Guess I won't be getting a needle and thread tattoo.... ;(
I still think it would be perfect for me though....
Until next time...
"Hands to work and Hearts to God!"
Love and Hugs,
Vonna

Congratulations Vonna, it is not easy to lose weight, I agree. I am also changing the eating habits of our family (better than saying that four letter word diet!!)
ReplyDeleteI like the reward you picked and I bet your husbands face was priceless.
Good luck----------- Roberta
Sweetie, get the tattoo. I plan to get one as soon as I reach my goal weight. I have 25 more pounds to lose. I haven't decided exactly what it will be yet, but I am going to get one. You only live once ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you ought to put a dollar in a jar for every pound you lose. Then you get to spend it on whatever you want.
ReplyDeletePeople who say that it's easy to lose weight have never had to. You are right, if it were easy we'd all wear bikinis.
Vonna,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! If only it was as easy to take it off as it is to put it on.
Now that you have him off balance with the tatoo suggestion he will probably happily agree to just about anything else ;)
Always enjoy updates on your beautiful family.
Stephanie
Vonna...I don't comment much but just had to when I read today's post. CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss!!! My SIL joined WW and lost ALOT of weight. I lost 80 lbs. on my own. People look at me like I'm nuts when I explain that food is like a drug to me. People can stop taking drugs...you CAN'T stop eating! The battle doesn't stop when you reach your goal weight either.
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you!
You GO GIRL!!!
Vonna, keep up the great work!! I am also in the midst of doing Weight Watchers and I LOVE IT!! Started on January 8th of this year and as of today, I have lost 14.8 lbs. and I am thrilled. When I reach my goal weight, I have not decided what I want for my reward, know for sure it will not be a tattoo (I hate needles), but I am thinking!! You go Girl!!
ReplyDeleteI love the pics of the kiddoes! I like the candid talk of needing to lose weight. It's tough, I've fought for years. It's hard, it's not easy I don't care WHAT some people say. When I got sick two years ago, I dropped weight pretty quick then. I lost about 20 lbs in about a month. That is THE one and only time I lost weight easily, I wasn't even trying. But trust me, I wouldn't consider getting sick like that again just to lose weight.I do need to work harder at it though.I don't go publishing what I weigh in a newspaper, but I am honest with the number what the topic comes up. I can't hide it.I mean , what am I gonna do, tuck it up under my arm? Well, I probably could some of it, but you know what I mean! LOL! I think you should pat yourself on the back for your efforts. Judging by your new picture, it's working. Congrats on the charm!!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant photos. Well done on meeting your goals. I ave the same problem and my weight yoyos around a lot. Whatever method you use to get it off is great if it works for you. Keep up the hard work it will be worth it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Vonna. Every little step is a step on the right direction.
ReplyDeleteYour children look wonderful and so happy!
Congratulations, Vonna. Loosing weight is hard, no matter what other people say. I managed to go down about 35lbs, but I gained 15lbs back this winter without really noticing. Keep at it, because it is so much harder to try again after you've lost and gained.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to set a goal and reward for myself to get me motivated again. Hearing about your success helps too. :)
Vonna,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your successful weight losing! I've been fighting the battle for years, without success. I do like WW and need to get back to it!
My husband would have the same reaction to the tattoo. :)
yay for you doing so well on WW. I lost 35 pounds before I got married, and my husband lost 60. it's an EXCELLENT program.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your achievement, Vonna! I vote that you get a temporary, rub-on tattoo instead and spend the difference on NEW STASH!!
ReplyDeleteYou go, girl!!
P.S. Kids look adorable! I enjoyed the new pics.
Kudos on your weight loss! The easiest part of weight loss is putting it back on! happy stitching....and healthy eating.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on loosing the weight. As a large woman I agree with you totally about people saying it's easy. My other pet peeve is the size 5 who thinks they look fat.
ReplyDeleteI like the reward idea. May have to try that myself. Tatoo? If you want it, go for it.
Get the tattoo!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your progress. Every day we're a work in progress. Hugs!
Terri
First of all "congrats!!" on the weight loss~~ I is NOT easy to lose weight....I know this first handed and SO need to get back on the bandwagon....grrrr...Good for you~~~ Now, what has me ROFLOL is the visual in my head of your dear hubbies mouth dropping the floor over the tatoo suggestion~~~~Hilarious~~~ Here's to the next 25!!! Proud of ya~ Faye
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Ms. Vonna.
ReplyDeleteLosing weight may be easy for younger people but as we get older it becomes MUCH harder.
Keep up the good work.
Lovely pics of the kids Vonna, Ellie looks so sweet peeking out from her tent.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 16 weeks :-D that is fantastic :cheering wildly:
I'm with you on weight loss being no easy thing. Last year I stopped smoking which was one of the hardest things I have ever done, losing weight is harder. It's not like i can just quit food like I quit cigarettes, I still have to eat. Like you say, if it was so easy nobody would be overweight.
You keep at it girl x
The pics of the kids are great! I'm so glad that you shared those.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 16 weeks. The tattoo sounds like a FANTASTIC idea! I'm trying to hussle my fat butt off too. It's coming off slowly, but it's going!
Handsome and beautiful children Vonna. Congratulations on the weight you have lost thus far. It is not easy. Hang in there and keep plowing at it.
ReplyDeleteJackie
Congratulations Vonna! I am so proud of you. I need to get some of your inspiration. Your children are lovely, I have twin boys too.
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you!! Keep up the positive attitude. Both my sisters struggle with weight. They work very hard to make the right choices but have to constantly worry about what they eat and even feel like they need to justify every single bite they take. I feel very fortunate that I don't have that burden (though I have my own issues to deal with).
ReplyDeleteI'm so there with you girl! I'm in the curvoliousness mold! I'm stuck in size 16, I'm just not wanting to give up my chocolate! The whole bag mind you! lol!
ReplyDeleteI like the tattoo idea, but John doesn't want me to get one either! Men!
Tell the boys congrats, my niece is one belt away from being a black belt!
Hugs,
DaisyGirl
Congratulations on your weight loss, Vonna! Way to go! Sending postive and good thoughts your way as you set your next batch of goals! Go Vonna!
ReplyDeleteRobin in Virginia
PS Terrific pictures of the kids!
Congratulations on your weight loss Vonna. That's a great accomplishment. Losing weight is one of toughest things in the world to do. I've been there and done that, so I know. WW is a great program and one that you can easily live with.
ReplyDeleteWish you could get the tatoo though. How cool would that be. I would have loved to have seen the look on your DH's face!!!
And I told you before that you're looking marvelous! Your hard work definitely shows.
Great news on you weight loss! I am rooting for you for your next goal.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can get a temporary tattoo, not tell your husband before hand and then tape his reaction when he sees it on you?? Let me know when it airs on AFHV!
Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on your resolve and commitment. Good for you! Losing weight is really hard work. Sorry about the tattoo; it would have been cool.
ReplyDeleteI was already tattoed when Niek and I met, so he can't object to any new ones. LOL!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Vonna, awesome. You've done such a great job - I'm really proud of you. Pat yourself on the back for it. And for those kids - oh my gosh, if I didn't already have four of my own, I'd want to borrow yours! :D
Your kids are so cute! Love the TKD outfits on the boys. As for losing weight -- no way is it easy!! I never succeed. I admire you so much for doing it and losing the weight! I'll cheer you on all you want too, cause I know how hard it is to lose that weight. And tattoos -- lol! I have to admit I don't want one. But hey, if you want one, it's your body, right? Oops! Don't let your DH read this. lol!
ReplyDeleteGo Vonna! Here's to a healthier you!
ReplyDeleteHey Vonna - great job and congratulations! Guess what? I just joined WW two Saturdays ago. So far it is going good. Already down 5 pounds and feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHave to agree it is definitely not easy to lose weight!!
ReplyDeleteI think your tattoo idea sounds perfect! Wonder what my DH would say if I suggested it!
Vonna...I am clapping from here. Great work! I am on week 10! It definitely isn't easy but so worth it. I heard something that I have decided to say from now on! I haven't lost weight I have taken it off! Sometimes you find things you lose!...lol..Here's to your next goal!
ReplyDeleteYou have a very beautiful bunch of kids there Vonna, and congrats on the 16 weeks WW charm! I'm so happy for you. I signed up for the online version, but I'm thinking I need to go to the actual meetings to keep me honest, not to mention, the online one is confusing! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteAdorable photos of the kids!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Vonna! It is very hard to lose weight, and I'm speaking from first hand experience. My husband and I are doing the very same thing. I think you should get the tatoo. I don't have one, but all three of our daughters do, and they are little works of art just like our needlework is a work of art!
Oh girl, I wish you could get the tattoo! I got a tiny one on my ankle when I turned 40 (it's a little ladybug) and it's almost 6 years later and I still love it. Maybe your hubby will soften to the idea over time. Mine went with me and "approved" of the design, location, etc. He knows I'm a strong willed gal, but it is important to have something so permanent approved by your loved one. At least that's my two cents!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight loss. I think you look so gorgeous in your picture, I can really tell you've lost, just by your face. Stick with it, I've lost a lot with WW and it does work! Need to get back to it. You're an inspiration to me :-) It's a real struggle for those of us that love food!
Your kiddo's are so cute :-)
xoxo
You keep going girl! Woo hoo! I was thinking about a tattoo like that myself but on my arm-just thinking of course. ; )
ReplyDeleteThe kids look great! I have a friend who is 33 and took up karate and is having a blast) She did it as her girls were both in it.
Congratulations girl on your 16 week charm. I am so very proud of you. I know how difficult your journey is.
ReplyDeleteAnd those children - just too sweet!
Congratulations on your fabulous 16 week achievement. It definitely is not easy to lose weight at all, good luck with the rest of your journey :)
ReplyDeleteWell done on your weight loss. You look gorgeous in your profile pic.
ReplyDeleteI say go for the tattoo, a needle and thread would be 'soo you' and it is something you could cover up (if the occasion called for it to be covered).
If I told my DH I was getting a tattoo he'd be all for it, but then he does have about 7 of them himself.
Congratulations on your weight loss Vonna, that's a great achievement!
ReplyDeleteMy mom struggled with her weight all my life, so I know how hard it is to lose. Keep up the good work!
Your kids are just beautiful. You're lucky to have such a great family.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on sticking with the WW program. A tattoo would never be an incentive for me, but whatever works... go for it!
The kids look great, I kinda like the tent and Cheerios too! CONGRATS on the WW goal! It is awesome. It is HARD to lose weight, take it from me, another who is struggling everyday with food choices.....Nancy
ReplyDeleteLoved reading the update on your kids--makes me fondly remember the busy days when my three sons were growing up. And those blue eyes on your youngest--all I can say is "WOW!"
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad WW is working for you Vonna--your health is so important, not only for you, but for your lovely family. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on the weight loss, Vonna. I agree that is not easy. I am determined to get some weight off and my doctor told me to remmeber that is a marathan not a race. I love your idea about the tatoo. I am probably too chicken to do something like that but I love thinking about it. Your kids are adorable!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the weight loss!
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteYou must be proud of yourself!!! Congrats!! I can imagine the face Mr. Twisted Stitcher made. The same would appera in the face of Mr. Cantinho do Ponto Cruz, if i speak out an idea like that.
But you deserve to celebrate!!!
Go girl!!
The kids are great!!
Hugs
Paula Nunes Lima
Fun snaps of the family! I love the little "Cheetos lips!"
ReplyDeleteCongrats on sticking with WW for 16 weeks! I think losing weight is the hardest thing there is to do. I've never been really heavy, but the past few years I've put on about 15 unwanted pounds, and I have worked and struggled to get rid of them, to no avail. I am starting to accept that my metabolism is not what it was in my 20's, but nevertheless, I still don't like excepting that human fact. You keep going girl! It will be worth it.
Have a great day.
Congratulations on 16 weeks and sticking to it. And good luck on reaching your next goal. You can do it!
ReplyDeleteAnd who said loosing weight is easy? It is one of the hardest things a person can do. I know. Been there done all my life.
Great photos of the children. :)
Congrats on your weight loss!! WTG!! That tattoo idea sounds sooo cool. Wish I would've thunk it up! The pics of your kids are great!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteLove those kiddies!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss! Losing weight is really, really hard no matter what any silly person says. You're amazing for working so hard! Food is the hardest thing for me to control in my life. It really is like a drug.
Congrats on your weight loss Vonna- I have been struggling too but making progress. You are right on about how hard it is! You struggle and struggle and eat one piece of pie and gain 3 lbs overnight! Grrr..... but the important thing is to keep marching forward and not give up. I keep reminding myself of how far I've come already and not dwell on far there is still to go. I'm not into tattoos myself but a small one seems just fine to me. Maybe hubby needs time to adjust to the idea LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing great with your committment to yourself and WW. It is not easy - in fact, frankly, most days I'd rather stay under my tent with a bag of cheetos too. LOL! And if you want the tattoo - go for it.
ReplyDeleteVonna,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 16 weeks and reaching your goals! Keep up the great work..
Your children are so adorable! You must be a proud mama..
The tattoo story is so funny..sounds like what my hubby would do!
Enjoy your day!
Congratulations!! I can agree that losing weight is not easy!!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the tattoo and can only imagine that my husband's reaction would be like yours!
Your kids are precious!
Vonna, congratulations on your weight loss! I have been doing a 'none' diet without attending any special class, but i understand that some people need the support that a class brings, they are just not for me. I think i've found it easier this time because i was in the right frame of mind to loose weight and i haven't been hung up on that dreaded four letter word! It's hard to loose weight and keep it off but i think it does become easier when you have started to see results of your efforts.
ReplyDeleteI still miss sitting down with a large bag of nuts, raisins and choc chips on a sunday afternoon though ;-)
I think you should go get that tattoo BTW :-)
Congratulations Vonna!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mention this...all morning the radio at work was talking about weight loss, exercise, etc...it seemed to be the topic of the day due to some recent study or something. And they said over and over again "if it was easy to lose weight, everyone would be thin" and this is so true! I've never struggled with weight (I have a fast metabolism, like my Dad) but I have lots of friends who have, and I can assure you, it is NOT an easy thing to do!!!
Love the pics of your kids :-)
Congratulations Vonna! It is not easy at all - life style changes are the way to go, but take sometime to do it. So I applaude you loud and strong and support your continued success!
ReplyDeletePS...your kids always have the best happy looking faces!a
Congrats on your ww accomplishments! I too, am a ww. Been at it awhile, and I have a long way to go, but am pleased like you say, to be in the battle.
ReplyDeleteDarn, I thought your tattoo idea was a cool one.
Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on the weight loss. It is hard. It is a change of lifestyle that cannot be done overnight. Your family is so sweet. Keep up the good fight.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics of the kiddos! Thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteAnd my dear girl... it is NOT easy to lose weight!!! I am disturbed daily by just how rude and insensitive people can be sometimes!! GOOD FOR YOU for stickin' to it! You are looking fabulous, and I know that there are probably times you want to give up, but perseverance is rapidly becoming synonymous with 'Vonna' in my mind!
A about fell out of my chair re: the tattoo and your DHs reaction, lol!! I can just picture the look on his face!!
Awesome post, Vonna!!
Congrations Vonna, on your weight loss. Whoever said it was easy has rocks in their head! I love the pics of the kiddies, but the story of the astounded DH about the tattoo is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 16 weeks!!! Seriously I'm with you, losing weight is so hard and it sucks and I hate when people give stupid advise "drink more water" "eat these berries" blah blah blah.
ReplyDeleteGreat job for the boys! We all love doing TKD together as a family (broken toe aside). There are actually a lot of families that do it together at our school.
Way to go Vonna! All my 3 kids do TKD and they love it!
ReplyDeleteWooHoo Vonna! Congratulations, I'm rootin' for you all the way. Whoever said losing weight is easy is out of their minds and obviously has never had a weight problem. I've recently lost 11 lbs and I've struggled all the way. Now that I'm on vacation I'm afraid of sliding back!
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to see the look on your hubby's face. I bet it was priceless! I think my DH would react the same way. But go ahead, reward yourself!
I'm Ellie. I just want to sit in my tent and eat Cheetos. LOL Great pics of the kids! My twins are a boy & a girl, so the height difference isn't too remarkable except that my son is about 8 inches taller than my daughter. Most assume they're siblings rather than twins. Katie looks rad. Is that a good word for preteens?! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnybody who says that losing weight is easy either has a fast acting metabolism or thyroid, or hasn't had to do it. Celebrate how long you've stuck with WW and how you are doing and being you. Congrats on the charm.
BTW, just looked at your tutorial, and all I could focus on--after I drooled over that chest for your threads--were your dazzling nails. LOVE 'em!! ;)
This is just the greatest. I'm a TKD black belt so 'high fives' to the kids! I'm also a new stitcher.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight loss--I completely totally 100% understand what you're going through--and it ain't easy, nope, not one bit. Your family is adorable--all of them!
ReplyDeleteI think there are times my twins wish they were not identical! At least no one is confusing one twin for the other. :D
ReplyDeleteCongats Vonna! It's a struggle I know but it's worth it...my cousin is now down 60 lbs thanks to WW and she still wants to drop 15-20 more!
ReplyDeleteAs for the tattoo..that same cousin regrets the ones that she got...I just have to agree with your DH on this one. :)
Congrats on the weight loss! I know how hard it is. I agree with you, Weight Watchers is simply the BEST weight loss program. It is real, isn't gimicky, and bottom line, it works. I am a Weight Watcher in progress too. I'm cheering for you!!!
ReplyDeleteMe, I'd pass on the tatoo and buy new clothes (or stash, lol). Tatoos hurt! Shopping doesn't.
Congrats!!! One day at a time I have 5 lbs to go till goal.
ReplyDeleteI have voted you for an award if you already got it from someone else thats ok just wanted to let you know
So happy that you visited me. Love your blog and can't wait to view more!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your encouragement and your prayers!!
I feel so blessed to be prayed for by you. We are so excited to become members of the Catholic faith. It has been a journey for us with many stepping stones and we feel like we are coming home!
Happy Holy Week to you and your family!!
Blessings,
Robin
Vonna, you look FABULOUS! I am so proud of you for staying strong and accomplishing your goals. You never cease to amaze me! What you are doing is no easy task...stay strong and keep your eyes on the goal (or the tatoo...whatever works :))...haha...you are funny. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see Keith's face. It'd probably be the same as Kev's if I told him that! And can I just say...I saw Ian the other day at the Lotus Festival and I just about passed out! That boy is TALL! When in the world did that happen!? Incredible! And your girls have both grown up so much. Ellie is the spitting image of her big sis (and mama). Loved all the pics. And I'm so proud of you! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteHey Vonna,
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear about your weight struggles but hope you can reach your goals! You do look great in your new pictures though! Keep up the good work!
So far, that's something I totally can't relate to. I've always been pretty thin and eat whatever I want. In fact, I'm eating a bag of M and M's and Peeps right now and waiting on a Barbeque plate for supper my hubbie is bringing! LOL
Your family is so cute! Love the cakes!
Jennifer
