Play in the Dirt
By: Stacy Nash Primitives
Stitched on: 28 ct. Vonna's Bake and Baste evenweave using DMC as called for
Finished as: Pinkeep with antique bone button and rusty safety pin embellishments
So...
there you go a productive couple of days! And I've got my next project started and about 1/4 of the way completed. I'm stitching like a loon to meet my goals that I have in my head and with February being a short month I feel like I'm racing the clock.
Speaking of Lent....
for those of you who practice, have you made any Lenten Promises? I have, I'm going to exercise 30 minutes every day (all 7) on my trusty elliptical and I'm going to stay within my points. I've been at a stand still with my weight loss since December 18. Now ~ I've cheated some and I'm not proud of it, but I've for the most part stayed on points most days and I'm still exercising 6 days per week, my leader thinks I'm on a plateau. I think I've been a little bad, so I'm gonna be a whole lot good for the next "40 days of Lent, Oh Lord". It's a process people and I admit that I've been bad on some days with the food part. But I'll be better. I've lost 25.8 lbs. since 9/21/09, that's nothing to sneeze at although in my head I wanted to have about 10 more pounds gone by now. So I'm picking myself up by the bootstraps and I'm going to give up being a cheater for Lent and I'm going to not take a day off of exercise. I feel better anyway exercising every day, so I'm not giving anything up, I'm making myself stronger.
I think...
that does it for me for this installment...OH! next time, I'll be able to show you my "Creation" all framed up. It's a beauty! Got it on Saturday when I dropped of my "Flowers of Lebanon" and my "Valentine's Sampler". Daddio told me to slow down on the framing...so these will be the last of the framing for a bit, then I'll have to lay things aside for a couple of months. So until next time my dears ~
Hands to work and hearts to God,
Hugs and love,
Vonna

Ohhh....these pumpkins look fantastic. So does "Play in the Dirt". Looking forward to see your framed pieces.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know you were much for the prim style, Vonna--looks great! lol @ Daddio! Are the kids thrilled that the snow made a return, or are they over it?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your next framing show-off!
Vonna, I love the pinkeeps!!!!! I fell of my eating healthy plan about 5 months ago and never got back on; so stay on it girl!! It is worth it!!! I am going to try and get back to it myself.
ReplyDeleteYour accomplishment so far is wonderful!!! Pat on the back from me!
Wonderful finishes Vonna! The pinkeeps are a fabulous shape, love the way they turned out.
ReplyDeleteWow Vonna, such fast stitching, I love the 1826 Pumpkin - I have it in my stash - should pull it out!!
ReplyDeleteKeep going on the weight and exercise thing - I am going through the same process - I exercise 3 times a week at my health club and my daughter and I have started doing the Wii Fit!! very difficult, but also really good. It does take self discipline to not eat and to exercise - more power to you!! good luck - hoping to see less of you in 40 days.
I love your latest finishes! Pin cushions are so much fun =) I really like that little bit of zing added with the zig zag around the edge of the Play in the Dirt pin cushion.
ReplyDeleteI wish we would have stayed home yesterday but we didn't. And we had an accident. Hubby will be driving my car until his is fixed so I am home-bound for the next two weeks. And thanks to the high deductible this is probably a good thing or I would be having a pity party at my LNS!
Good luck with your goals!!!
Super cool pinkeeps. Are they stuffed with fiberfill or something else?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the exercise program!
Those pumpkin pinkeeps are adorable!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finishing Vonna! You can do no wrong!
ReplyDeleteYour Lenten promises sound perfect! I've decided to abstain from meat (of the non-fish variety) for the entire 40 days of Lent, to eat right, to exercise every week day (5 days a week), and to pray the divine mercy chaplet every day to end (insert politically controversial topic here). DH just decided he's giving up alcohol. I informed him that he has 4 or 5 beers in the fridge, so he better get started getting rid of those early tonight :)
Wow, what absolutely stunning finishes. LOVE the pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkins are great!Your Lenten Promise is similar to mine...I am returning to walking 3 to 5 miles a day... now if the weather will cooperate! Jan
ReplyDeleteLove your finishes! Very nice! Snow days are good for something, right? :D I think it's great that you've lost so much weight. I can't lose any -- I just gain it back again. sigh...
ReplyDeleteOOH! I need to stitch those pumpkins so badly! Are you wanting to trade the chart? Or are you saving it?
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the pumpkin pinkeeps and the Stacy Nash cutie! You have lightning needles here lately, Vonna! All kinds of fun every time you post. :) Your finishes are killing my wallet... every time I see something cute on your blog, I am either ordering it or putting it on a wish list (Flowers of Lebanon arrived in my mailbox today, thankyouverymuch. LOL!). Can't wait to see your framing.
ReplyDeleteHang in there with the weight loss and exercising. You will get there. I am telling myself the same thing. I am back to trying to be good--exercising and eating less. I have lost a little, but not as much as I would like. But we will get there!!!! :) :) :)
Have a great healthy week!
Beautiful Vonna.
ReplyDeleteThose pumpkins are just so boo! Will there be a Vonna tutorial?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your weight goals. I need to get myself in gear and do the same.
Both of your finishes are beautiful, Vonna! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the weight loss - 25+ pounds is nothing to be sneezed at - over the course of 5 months, that's 5 pounds a month - definitely wonderful progress!
Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteI just simply adore your pumpkin pinkeeps :) I look forward to seeing your framed pieces!
ReplyDeleteThose pinkeeps are precious! I love them!! Still pondering what I will do for Lent..
ReplyDeleteLove the pumpkin pinkeeps.
ReplyDeleteI will also be giving up sweets and sodas for Lent. Since I was sick today, I did not get to make that final Mardi Gras day splurge.
Congratulations on your non-stitching progress!
love the finishes,
ReplyDeletewhatever you put your hand to has heart in it,
i will be sending you wishes of content in appetite and stamina for workouts for the next 40 days
yes you can!!!!!
Oh, I love both pinkeeps! Especially the pumpkin! I have been thinking about getting that pattern.
ReplyDeleteI am giving up colas for Lent and like you I plan to excercise.
Love all the pinkeeps... especially the pumpkins... those are just too adorable! Good for you with the weight loss to this point! I am sure you will meet your goals over Lent - dual purpose sacrifice. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are the cutest pinkeeps! Just love the designs and finishing. Great job as usual.
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkins are adorable!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Lent~
Cutest pumpkins ever! You are amazing.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work on your "diet". Such a difficult thing to do, and I admire your strength.
Have you tried shocking your system by dropping all sugar and simple carbs for a couple weeks? It is hard to do, but may jump start your metabolism again.
Good luck!
Love your perfect prim pinkeeps!
ReplyDeleteGood job with the weight loss...keeping it off is no easy feat, so good going you :)
Cute finishes ! Congrats on the weight loss, 25lbs is quite the milestone.
ReplyDeleteLove your sweet little pinkeeps, but just as much, I'm taken by your Lenten commitment. I hadn't yet decided on one, so you've now inspired me to recommit to a daily exercise routine as well. Great ideas all the way around today!
ReplyDeleteThey are so lovely especially those pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have the Pumpkin pattern but haven't stitched it yet. When I do I hope it turns out as pretty as yours!
The pumpkins are adorable!
ReplyDeleteOOOhhhh... Wonderful finishes! And this pumpkin is _absolutely_ incredible!
ReplyDeleteFasting comes *after* carnaval, does it? I'm sorry, I'm such a coplete nincompoop when it comes to these things. The Dutch Roman Catholics I know (and who are everywhere in this part of the country) only do the party bit and then forget about the following 40 days. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteYour pumpkin finishes are so CUTE! Where DO you find the time to get so much stitching done!
Love the pinkeeps, Vonna! The pumpkins turned out great!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good plan for Lent. Tracking those points really does make a difference. In fact, I like your idea so much, I may borrow it..... better decide quick!
Looking forward to seeing your framing.
Pinkeeps look great!
ReplyDeleteHello,I discover your blog.All is really nice.Congratulations.Couson
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow!! What gorgeous work, Vonna! Your pinkeeps are amazing. I am so inspired.
ReplyDeleteI like your promises for Lent. Mine are to keep stash purchases at a minimum, to exercise daily, and to eat more natural foods. More veggies, more fruit, more protein. I've never met a piece of bread that I don't like and I'm weaning myself off of that and trying to enjoy vegetables in place of that. Good luck with the plateau. You are doing SO well with your weight loss. Plateaus are a part of real life, and I think it's a success if you can stay focused when you are following the plan and don't see the rewards. Hang in there, gf!
I love your pumpkins! And congrats on the weight loss. I fell off my wagon some months ago and really need to climb back on.
ReplyDeleteFor Lent I'm giving up complaining! It's gonna be hard, but I've found that I really complain a lot, and who wants to listen to that! At the same time, I'm going to try to climb back on that eating better and walking daily wagon...
Cant wait to see the framed pieces!! I know exactly what you mean about slowing down with the framing...we all are being a little more aware of spending...I love those cute prim pincusions too! Sweet!!!...Now I have to decide for sure about Lent...I just know it cant be chocolate or coffee!~ lol.......Have a good one! Faye
ReplyDeleteAdorable pincushions Vonna!! You did such a good job with the stitching and finishing! Good luck with your exercising! You've done so well already. I really need to get back on the treadmill. My excuse is I need new shoes. Gee, I wonder when I'll get those shoes??? :)
ReplyDeleteVonna, you have the busiest hands of anyone I know! The pinkeeps are soooo cute! Good luck on that 'no cheating' thing. It is hard work!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful pinkeeps Vonna..I just love these primitive style designs
ReplyDeleteLove the pinkeeps!! Where do you find the tiny rusted pins? I can't seem to find them anywhere!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the weight loss! I've only managed 11 pounds since last spring - but I could do better if I didn't love the sweets so much!
I just love your pinkeeps Vonna! Those pumpkins especially are wonderful! Congratulations on your weight loss!!! I don't think we ever lose as much as we think we will, but you're doing great! I hope that you had some decadent things yesterday. I had a paczki - the sugar in that should last me a good six weeks at least! LOL
ReplyDeleteThose pumpkins are so clever, and I love the little touches on the pinkeep. Inspiring job, as usual.
ReplyDeleteWhen I did WW many years ago, I had a leader who said that doing the dairy part of the program was very important (this was back when you had so many breads, so many milks, etc.) She said it was something about the balance in the diet that was important. When I plateaued I tried hard to get the dairy in and it seemed to help. Of course now I should be back at WW taking my own advice!
The pinkeeps are beautiful (like all of your work!!)...
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with your weight loss, Vonna--keep going and don't lose hope when you have a bad day. In the long run it will be so worth it!!
Can't wait to see the new framed beauties :)
LOVE your pinkeeps! What a neat idea to make them into little pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteGood for you on your weight loss. I'm sure you will do very well during lent and you will feel so good when you accomplish your goal.
Can't wait to see your framing. I'm sure it's just gorgeous.
Have a great day.
Your pinkeeps are so cute Vonna!!! Glad to hear you're surviving Snowmaggedon - stay warm! 25 pounds is an awesome accomplishment - keep up the great work - it's never ending - but we can do it!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finishes!
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you for your WW success - and indeed it is success! I NEED to get on some plan, but am reluctant to 'give it up'.
Those pumpkins look wonderful@
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finishes. The pumpkins are just great!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the new finishes. (And the two from last week.) But most especially the Plays in the Dirt one. I MUST find that pattern. I have a garden stone outside my door the says "Playing in the dirt". So that one is just me!
ReplyDeleteYou know I haven't really given anything up for Lent in years. Rather I like to do something good everyday. Something I wouldn't normally do. And one thing I am promising myself is to go back to Church. While my Faith is strong I just don't take the time to go. So for Lent this year I will. And maybe I can do so more throughout the year.
I love the pinkeep. The pumpkin ones are just perfect.
ReplyDeleteWow! What wonderful pinkeeps!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Vonna! x
ReplyDeleteYou know that I admire ALL of your gorgeous creations so I shall leave it at that BUT I want to know how in the world you are able to post as frequently as you do...with all that stitching, those 4 wonderful children, a finishing business, the fitness regime ~ I feel like such a SLACKER! :D
ReplyDeleteHugs, from the MONTHLY BLOG POSTER!
What wonderful finishes. Enjoy your points - just make sure they all count.
ReplyDeleteWonderful finishes! I just LOVE those pumpkins, they look gorgeous. Your fabric looks always so beautiful, I haven't had the courage to try dyeing myself yet :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable pinkeeps Vonna-loving the pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteThose little punkins are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love those pinkeeps, especially the pumpkins, how cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my, such great pumpkins. They turned out perfect, wow. I also love the SN finishing.
ReplyDeleteMajor congratulations on your weight loss. An average of 1 pound per week is really terrific. You're doing so great on it.
Oh wow your finishes are divine Vonna! Gotta love those pumpkin pinkeeps!
ReplyDeleteBEEutiful all around!
ReplyDeleteVonna, all are so wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Nadia
Wow, pretty pinkeeps! I love the addition of the rusty safety pin on the Stacey Nash.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it, I've been so busy with work that Ash Wednesday was upon us before I'd even had time to think things over.
I have however made a commitment to eating healthy which should help shed some pounds.
When I can stay awake long enough I'm also trying to read some of the scriptures each evening. I've got myself a new bible using today's language. It helps understand things better.
The pinkeeps look wonderful, and what a fun idea for the pumpkin ones. Hope you've been able to dig out from all the snow by now. We've been having nicer weather and a lot of ours has melted, but the weather report says 2-8 inches between tonight and tomorrow so looks like we'll be blanketed again soo. Congrats on your finish of Flowers, it looked awesome on the black. Looking forward to seeing your framed Creation.

Those little pumpkins are so darn cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd 25 pds. is amazing!! Keep up the good work. We practice Lent-trying to see what I should give up because I always forget-how about salad? Just kidding! I'll go with ice cream because I've eaten chocolate and had a soda.

Amazing work as usual..the Pumpkins are brilliant!
ReplyDeleteYour pinkeeps are darling and I just love the pumpkins! Beautiful finishing, Vonna!
ReplyDeleteThose pumpkin pin cushions are too darling for words. I have GOT to stitch one of those.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the Lent promise; I gave up caffiene in january, artificial sweetners as of feb 5 and refined sugar as of 2/22. It's a VERY hard process but I'm gonna make it too. I need to drop 30 lbs......we'll see how it goes.
Those Pumpkins are gorgeous - I absolutely love that idea!
ReplyDeleteYour pincushions are all gorgeous, congratulations
