I have a really, dear Buddy that L-O-V-E-S Halloween. Well after some sneaky sleuthing to make sure that she hadn't purchased the pattern yet....I stitched her this stitchy witchy:

Fabric: 30 ct. Straw Weeks Dye Works
Fibers: Crescent Colours, Weeks and DMC as charted
Finished as: Stitcher's Keep
Stitched for: Terry P.
Started: July 6, 2009
Finished: July 24, 2009
I believe....
that Terry is over the moon with my choice for her, and the Good Lord knows she's been waiting for a looooooong time for this, see I "owed" her one.....and finally I saw it through. Hopefully it was worth the wait in Terry's eyes? Let's hope so!
What'd up?....
Well I started a new project and it is not going as I anticipated. But hopefully it will turn out o.k. We'll see....and I'm too embarrassed right now of the MUCK of made of it to even show you. So I'll wait and see - hopefully I won't just pick it up and throw it away :o/
Yesterday....
We went to our county fair. I love fairs, the animals, the 4-H'ers, the food, the lights, even the smells...but my very favorite part is looking at all the Home Ec exhibits and especially the needlearts entries. You know here I'm going to once *again* show my ignorance....but I thought you had to belong to a Ladies Home Ec. Club to enter things in the fair....apparently I was wrong, so you know what? I got a list of all the entry categories and I'm going to enter something(S) next year....I was looking at what was entered and what won the Grand Champion ribbons and I think that, I could win some ribbons myself. Maybe. Next year. We'll see.
Well....
That does it for me for today....back to the laundry and finishing work. Until next time: Love and best wishes, as you count your blessings and your stitches, from our house to yours! XXxxxx
In the end,
those things that affect your life most deeply
are too simple to talk about.

Vonna, your Witchy Stitches is beautiful and I love the finished box! I think you could definitely win some blue ribbons too!
ReplyDeleteI love this design, and yours is the first I've seen stitched. You did a beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteHey Ms. Vonna,
ReplyDeleteYou did a super job on that gift for your pal. That is such a cute design.
I'm sure your current project will turn out. I know how frustrating stuff like that can be. Remember that we're usually our own harshest critics. Go easy on yourself!
Awww, how fun and sneaky! Great finish, Vonna!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job on the Witchy Stitch, it's gorgeous! I'm sure your friend is thrilled. I'm also SURE that you would win some ribbons! Go for it!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Witchy Stitchin' box! I'm sure Terry is thrilled with it!
ReplyDeleteThat box looks great; who wouldn't love it? I'm sure you will have quite a few ribbons next year!
ReplyDeleteWitchy Stitch box is way cute. I am sure Terry will love it. Good luck getting ready for the fair next year. That will most likely be another motivator for you.
ReplyDeleteGwen
I love it. My chart is in the mail somewhere I hope anyway, lol
ReplyDeleteNice giftie! Wow! Love it! That'll be so cool if you enter items into your fair next year!
ReplyDeleteVonna, I love your latest finishes! You're cranking them out so quick that I can't get comments in between schlepping the kids around. ;) Love 'em all! That Witchy Stitches box is just adorable. YGG on the fair plans for next year, too. You can do it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project for your friend, I love the box finish. Congrats, CJ ok;-)
ReplyDeleteI purchased that wonderful design and actually forgot that I did until I saw your wonderful box. How very lucky Terry is!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your ribbons next year, you certainly have a lot of gorgeous finished pieces to pick from.
Thank you again Vonna, you are a dear friend. ;)
A wonderful Halloween design stitched and finished beautifully!
ReplyDeleteVonna;
ReplyDeleteThe witch is so cute! I will have to do one for myself.
Re: the fair. I live in Steuben County, and we have a really tiny fair up here. I've gotten a few Best of Show ribbons for my stitching, and a several blue ribbons, but have never sent anything to the State Fair. And no, you don't need to be in the homemakers clubs to exhibit! It's for anyone who is too old to join 4-H.
Speaking of the State Fair...you really must see the homemakers exhibits in Indy!! The cross stitch down there is unbelievable. It's a short drive for you, maybe your hubby would take you for the day! Our daughter has three 4-H projects going to State, so we are making the trip down on Aug 15. I can't wait!! :):):)

Love this design....so cute the way you finished it!
ReplyDeleteLove this pattern, have never seen it before, it would be great for a Halloween decoration for my sewing room, ... let me think so many designs so little time!!
ReplyDeleteThe box looks fantastic and I am sure that it was worth the wait to her!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous box. I am sure Terry is one happy lady!
ReplyDeleteWhere is your music? This is the first site I check each day, I love it. You're such an inspiration with all you do - the needlework, the finishing, the family and your job. Sometimes I will just pull up your blog and listen to the music while I sew. You pick a lot of the same songs that I would have chosen. I've lost track of the pieces I have stitched because I've seen them here. Thanks for this blog!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great design, and it looks amazing on the box. Lucky Terry!
ReplyDeleteLove your "Witchy Stitcher"! It turned out great, and I'm sure your next project will also. It can be frustrating at times, but it'll work out! Oh and I LOVE county fairs, but I haven't been to one since we moved here to Wisconsin, but I have such wonderful memories of going every year as a child. Good luck choosing something to enter!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the box and it is well worth the wait. The box now has a place of honor on my stitching table. And what is best about it, is that a dear friend was so thoughtful and made something so wonderful for me. Thank you dear Vonna.
ReplyDeleteYea Vonna! You go girl! You could definitely bring home some ribbons with your talent! I wish we lived closer to where our fair is!
ReplyDeleteI love this witchy design! I have thought of getting it to do.
Ohhhhh! I love the box you made for your friend. Lucky lucky friend! I have never entered something in the fair. I'm afraid I wouldn't get anything but negative comments! My poor self esteem couldn't handle that! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful work! It would be great entries into a fair.
ReplyDeleteBetter yet, offer to teach some 4-Hers the joy of stitching (or other projects). Many have no one to teach them and they are eager to learn. I am a 4-H judge in MN and I see many who want to learn but have no one to instruct them.
Vonna--your stitching AND finishing are always so perfect. Thanks for inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic box!! Good luck with the new project. Are you in control of it, or is it in control of you? :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful box,Vonna!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful gift! I am sure she will love it. You are a wonderful friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Vonna...Witches Stitches is darling...I really like the box too. Your friend will love it, especially coming from her friend.

Isn't it amazing how much laundry is a part of our daily lives???? (especially with children!) Your finish is beautiful; hope you can salvage the other one. And yes, I'm beyond sure you can win ribbons, especially blue, or purple or red for grand champ!

What a beautiful gift for your friend. I am sure she was thrilled.
ReplyDeleteLucky Friend. Hope she enjoys it.
ReplyDeleteVonna, Your cross stitching projects are amazing. I don't know how you get so much done. I haven't done any cross stitching for quite some time, but your site is so inspiring, I may just have to pick up my needle and floss and start again. I love the way you always tell who the designer is! Thanks for the great eye candy. Maybe one of these days, I'll have something stitchy to post on my blog!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that stitching and finish is awesome! You did such a great job and I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteJim Gaffigan is from Indiana and he calls 4H the Indiana mafia. LOL
I do miss the fair and heritage days from when I lived in Huntington.
Vonna your witch piece is just so cute, I've never seen it before! You did a fantastic job finishing it into a box ... as usual!
ReplyDeleteI looked into entering some of my work into the local fairs about 5 years ago and decided not to. Some of them just have such strange rules... no signature on pieces, not framed, framed, etc. I'm sure you'd win some ribbons fur sure!
This is adorable, Vonna!! What a neat design for a lovely box, I am sure your friend will be over the moon with joy!
ReplyDeleteLove the box. Vonna your pieces always turn out so beautifully so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteVery cool finishing (and stitching!) on Witch's Stitch! Thanks for visiting my blog and telling me about yours!
ReplyDeleteYou do such a wonderful job, Vonna! It's a delight to read your blog and I wish you many blessings!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great pattern and your finish of it is incredible. I'm sure Terry loves it!
