Hello Friends!.....
Well I don't do this very often, and I'm truly ashamed to even show you my badness....but do you want to see what was in my mailbox yesterday afternoon? Maybe we'll look at this as a public confession and you my confessors? :o) Now before we get into this let's remember: I am not a high maitenance woman, I live pretty simply, we do not go out to eat except for 2 times per month, I do not get pedicures, manicures, my hair done - except to get it cut a couple of times per year (I wear it up so no need - plus my Mom used to be a beautician, if I need a trim she does it), I don't wear fancy clothes (I'm a mother of 4 - through the week I wear casual clothes and on the weekend I work at a hospital so scrubs it is)...so with all that being said. Cross stitching is my one guilty pleasure....ok now for the confession.....In the past year.....
I've undergone some changes in my tastes toward cross stitching. I used to be all about smalls. Couldn't get enough of 'em....give me the smalls....pinkeeps, biscornu, needlepockets, stitching pockets...you get the idea. Well I have gazoodles of smalls, I have them in baskets, on shelves, on tables, hanging on doorknobs...well just about everywhere. They are cute, they are adored - but now I want to concentrate on walls. I've got a lot of empty walls. So with that lead up....Our bedroom (mine and my husband's that is) truly needs a make over on the walls. Furniture - good, Linens - fabulous, accessories - great, walls - suck. So.....I decided that I would make a (insert Isaac Hayes voice please) Loooooove Room. Corny? I know...but that's what I'm going to do so I picked up these to stitch for our (insert Isaac Hayes Voice) Looooove Room:
A new favorite of mine Paulette of Plum Street Samplers. I just can't get enough of her designs (as you'll see later)....anyway I picked up her new Love Notes and her older Beloved:
And.....we all know my affinity for Diane....no explanation needed there, I believe that State Fair may be one of the first things I stitch up, love ya Diane ;)
Then ...... L*K did it again, this is one that not only means something to me spiritually on a "live your best life" level, but it's just darn cute:
Now....I told you about Paulette above and her samplers that shall live in the...well you know the "room".....well happening upon her blog one day when I was searching for her website because a design had caught my fancy - well now - then I start to go back through all her designs and I HAD to have them...pronto (there's more on my list) but these were the starters A Handworks Pace, From His Hand and Morning Bird:
Isn't he......
just the cat's meow? Little lover boy....Until Next time....hugs and best wishes, as your count your blessings and your stitches, from our house to yours! XXXX
Only where the heart is can the treasure be found.
For where you treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Holy smokes! Now I don't feel so bad for my recent fit of insanity at Amazon.ca with French needlework books.
ReplyDeleteNice haul!! ;)
Isn't retail therapy just the best?! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - I have baskets and shelves full of pinkeeps and pillows and other such doodads, now I want stuff on my walls. Love your new stash, you've got some lovely designs there.
I'm green. Totally green. With envy. 'nuff said.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You go, girl!! Start posting those finishes, and I'll be glued to my computer screen!! Oh, and did I mention what FABULOUS taste you have?
Well I think your Looooooove Room is going to be fabulous! You have quite a new stash there...Lots of great choices.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the same page with you with decorating but I'm making over my living room; trying to achieve a romantic cottage style; I want samplers on the wall in there and so far I've chosen Plum Pudding's Emma's Garden.
What a stash haul!!!! So many new things to enjoy. I'm literally drooling over all your new charts. I always feel torn between stitching smalls and those BAP projects, and I'm not sure if one side ever wins, lol. I just love both.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your new goodies. I'm looking forward to seeing your first finishes ...
Vonna, what a great haul! I've been trying EXTREMELY hard not to buy any stash. Yesterday I drove to my LNS and actually turned around when I got there...I thought to myself is this what an addict feels like??? Well Ms. Vonna you know how they say if you want to get rid of an addiction you have to change your friends??? Since I have no intention on trading in you guys I guess I'll be going back to my LNS today and actually going in...I just have to get those Primitive Needle charts!!!! I'll just try to stop at that LOL
ReplyDeleteMy goodness Vonna. Here i sit at my puter green with envy. You have some beautiful designs and your walls and the 'Looooove Room' are going to look stunning when you are done.
ReplyDeleteWell thread your needle and off you go. Make sure to take lots of pictures.
Happy stitching. x
WOW! I wish I was as bad as you LOL. Enjoy your stash haul.
ReplyDeleteI am 100% in total support of "Retail Therapy"!
ReplyDeleteGIRLFRIEND...YOU WENT NUTS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing another woman with the same stash addiction. You made some great choices and you're going to have so much fun with these!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Your have your hands full there, Vonna. But of course, ALL lovely designs to focus on. I think I bought most of the newer designs during market. I especially fell for L*K's sampler bc seldomly do they do something like this.
ReplyDeleteMr. Chatty is adorable. Actually, he looks like a confident gentleman. :D
From SMALLS to WALLS! I love it! You have some great stuff here - enjoy your haul!
ReplyDeleteIt must be something in the air because today I too splurged... and I do mean S P L U R G E D!
ReplyDeleteWell, like you, those stockings... oh! Just had to have them (and then some). But now you show me Miss Crescent's heart??? No, no, no, no more!! I feel guilty enough as it is... *grin*... Enjoy all your goodies, you deserve it!!
Just think of this as your own stimulus package and how you are helping the economy.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs to indulge themselves periodically. You're the best.

Oh my, did you get a super dooper wonderful stash haul there. Can't wait to see them all stitched and on the walls of that "room". :)
ReplyDeleteWe all deserve some retail therapy to cheer us sometime.
You've got some fantastic stash there, you naughty girl, LOL!!! Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteWow Vonna! I'm sitting here nursing the little one and checking my Google Reader and...wow! I think I just drooled on Lady Bug's head!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had some fun. I also love the new LK piece and picked it up as part of my birthday present. I am seriously thinking about starting that this month. I just need to get the fabric.
ReplyDeleteVonna --
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you splurged. Sometimes we all need to treat ourselves! They will look wonderful in your home and "love room". I love all the patterns you picked got! I can hardly wait to see finishing pictures!
BrendaS
WOW girl that is one super stash haul!! I think we all need to treat ourselves sometimes and I always say hey I don't drink or smoke so why not?!! LOL! Those stockings look so nice and I may just have to take advantage of the offer Mary Kathryn has one them.
ReplyDeleteLove your start on Quaker Virtues. I shall enjoy watching your progress on it.
I forgot to ask how big are the stockings?
ReplyDeleteGood to see you having fun! The theme rooms sound great -- many LOVE possibilities!!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on Primitive Needle "Gaze" this week. The new Prairie Schoolers will be arriving here today :)
Jeanne
Too funny Vonna!!! I love your stash. We all need to have these trips from time to time. I do like your idea of the themed Loooovvee rooms :-)

Wonderful stash Miss Vonna :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!!
Wow what a stash haul, enjoy it all!!
ReplyDeleteVonna – you’re too funny! I *love* the idea of a (I’m no good with the Isaac Hayes’ impersonation!) Looove Room!
ReplyDeleteI switched to stitching smalls a number of years ago, when we moved from a 3,200 sf house with plenty of walls, to a 700 sf. apartment, where there was no extra wall space. Even now, in a 1,400 sf. apartment, there isn’t a lot of wall space available, unless I go with a “sampler wall” and have a dedicated wall to framed pieces. As it is now, I usually don’t have more than 2 cross stitched pictures on a given wall. I think that when I eventually buy my own house, with a dedicated stitching room, I will have a “proper” sampler wall, but in the meantime, I’ll continue to stitch those “larger” pieces, and put them in my “to be framed when I win the lottery” box, and continue to stitch on the smaller pieces which can be displayed immediately.
Anyway – I love your stash haul. The new Prairie Schoolers are calling my name, too, as are Diane’s latest designs. I’m trying really hard to not add more of her charts to my stash until I can at least work through my current stash, but where’s the fun in that, right?
Good luck with working through all the projects to make your “love room” a reality!
Enjoy:)
ReplyDeleteWhat super stash!!!!
ReplyDeleteLol! Guess you didn't give up new stash for Lent! :D You surely got yourself some treasures there and I'll be cheering you on as you get them stitched up.
ReplyDeleteReally exciting stash! They will be beautiful in you "love room" :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your haul. Now I don't feel so guilty for my 3 small stash purchases last week! Primitive Needle's Simply Live is on my list for my next LNS visit. Everytime I go there, there is always a chart I wish I bought once I get home!
ReplyDeleteSometimes a girl just needs to shop. Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteCJ
You have excellent taste! And I'm thrilled that you've treated yourself to a little splurge - enjoy! :D
ReplyDeleteHOLY STASH BATMAN! Can't wait to see what you decide to stitch up first!
ReplyDeleteLove your stash! I'm a wee bit jealous too...o.k. a lot. But I'm so very happy for you. It's great to have choices to stitch and I KNOW you will do a WONDERFUL job. Can't wait to see the progress.
ReplyDeleteGreat stash haul! And you don't have to justify it to us! We're all the same! :) I'm already thinking of all the goodies I'll be getting my hands on tomorrow at Amy's! :)
ReplyDeleteA girl must have her obsession! And to handcraft your vanity and finally display it on your own walls...good for you! Take pleasure in every stitch, and be glad you don't get manicures, because the nails would just get in the way!
ReplyDeleteYour charts are lovely, enjoy every stitch!
ReplyDeleteYa-hoo...pat yourself on the back for rewarding yourself for being yourself. I think that we all need to do that every once in awhile! Our hobby/obsession keeps us sane!
ReplyDeleteLoving the retail therapy!! You deserve it! You've been in my prayers. Hae a fantastic weekend playing with your new stash!
ReplyDeleteHolly Molly :) What a haul! I love everything you bought :)
ReplyDeleteNatasha
Oh, I'm drooling!!! I think an "I'm going wild with shopping" day sounds absolutely marvelous!
ReplyDeleteYou picked out some beautiful pieces.
And now I'm going to have the theme from Shaft running through my head... ba bum...
That's quite a haul Vonna, great stash
ReplyDeleteGreat stashing ! I didn't know about Miss Crescents Crowne, I'm off to look ok buy the Love Bird pattern. Your "room" will look great with all your stitching.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say I love the music you play !
ReplyDeleteVonna; Your new graphs are great! I see a couple that would make great wedding gifts - we have two, this summer!! Did you order all these from the same vendor? Could you email me your source so I may get started? Thanks a lot,

You truly are bad and I am truly jealous, lol
ReplyDeleteLove every single thing
What will you stitch next?
Happy stitching!!
{snort} Vonna, you're one funny lady. And ohhhhhhh, my goodness me, your walls are going to be the bees knees. I'm planning sampler walls throughout the house, too. Noah's Ark, happy samplers, a bird wall, a girly, flowery, spring-y wall in my bedroom. Sigh.... I need to go and stitch now!
ReplyDeleteYou make me feel like I'm not really an addict. What a haul. Looking forward to lots and lots of pictures. Your walls are all going to be stunning!
ReplyDeleteVonna,
ReplyDeleteI love it all!! We share love for the same designers.. wait until you see my retail therapy from last weekend!
Michelle
What a haul! I'm a fan of Prairie Schoolers, Little House and Lizzie Kate, too. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWowza!! That is SOME stash haul! Knowing you, you'll have it all stitched up in no time :-) xx
ReplyDeleteGreat stash! There are way worse things a person could be besides stitch, it is a guilty PLEASURE!
ReplyDeleteTammy
Vonna, I just love your sense of humor! Thank you so much for the early morning giggle.
ReplyDeleteI love all your new stash (Plum Street has been one of my faves for a while now). The lovely Joel really liked the LK sampler too (it's on my list for when I come to my senses and start buying stash again).
I think your Looove Room :-) idea is just splendid!
ReplyDeleteStash buying always makes me feel good, so I hope it helps lift your spirits after a tough month. Can't wait to see lots of stitching updates.
That is some SERIOUS stashing girlfriend. Wow so many pretties...where to begin!?! Look forward to seeing how your LOVE ROOM (Yes I hear Issac) develops.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually hearing Perry Como and that is almost as good as Issac!
ReplyDeleteI love the music on your blog. This is mostly the stuff we sing in our chior!
It sounds like there is a lot of love in that house of yours and adding it to another room...the love rooooom. is a great idea.. "Magic Moments"
Love all of the wonderful stash! You have been good to yourself. I'm a Gi'normous kind of stitcher too!
Have a good weekend!
WOW, what a great collection, there's some in there that definately took my fancy to.
ReplyDeleteWow Vonna, awesome choices :) Can't wait to see your finishes!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Now that is a stash!!! Love all the charts you picked!!! Now you make me want to go shopping~~
ReplyDeleteVery nice stash collecting! I love BBD stockings too and have one already stitched and finished. Can't wait to do another. have fun in the LOVE ROOM - tee hee.
ReplyDeleteAwesome stash collecting Vonna! I'll be looking forward to seeing some new WIP's soon!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous stash Vonna - enjoy it all - you deserve it
ReplyDeleteoh wow! now you need to get busy stitching these! I have several of them and want alot more!
ReplyDeleteFantastic new stash Vonna :-))
ReplyDeleteAre you gonna have it all stitched by June ;-)) lol.
Fabulous stitching haul!! YGG! I have been married for 20 years and our bedroom always ends up being the place where socks who don't have their partners go to die & books are stacked and golf score cards are piled. I have a start with DT Marriage of Minds and Beatrix Potter's Quaker on the walls but want to do a lot more... BOAF My Betrothed (or Beloved??), Paulette's designs, etc., etc. I'll be cheering you on in your quest for your LOOOOOOOOVVVEEE room. (... and why is it that you get the Isaac Hayes voice and I just get the theme from "The Love Boat"?!??)
ReplyDeleteAre they done yet?! Can't wait to see these unfold! Love the stockings.
ReplyDeleteSomebody's been having fun! What a great idea for your room. I love smalls too Vonna, mainly pinkeeps, but there is nothing like filling your walls with samplers and framed stitching. Enjoy every stitch!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Don't you love those Blackbird Stockings? They stole my heart.
YOu want to know something funny? I buy all these beautiful pieces to stitch. I start them, and either i get bored or I put them down and find something else that is also a big pattern that flatters me and I start it too. I then tell myself that having all these smalls to work on in between will help me keep my interest in the big ones.lol. well needless to say, I have about 15 wips of huge projects that never got half done and about 20 smalls in the works being rotated. I too have walls need covering.lol. Maybe I should settle for medium size works instead. tAke care,Kimberly in TN
ReplyDeleteAwesome stash haul Miss Vonna! Woohoo! You deserve it. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow! Good for you treating yourself to all those goodies. I can't wait to see your "Loooove Room" develop...what fun!Enjoy every stitch...you deserve it.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices Vonna :) sounds like you'll have great time decorating your 'special' room ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd a cute kitty to boot!
Great stash haul! I'm seeing those BD stockings everywhere, I think some may have to come to my house so I don't feel left out ;)
ReplyDeleteYou need them all!!! Great choices too, I love Plum Street Samplers too! I ordered the linen to stitch her Christmas Tea!
ReplyDeleteMr. Chatty looks so lovely! I just love my Butters and Daisy too! My cats seem to know when I need cuddle times.
Hugs to you!
Donna
But Vonna, I KNOW you're going to finish that big old HAED before you start any of these new things! LOL! Love them all--what a great idea for your bedroom.
ReplyDeleteI am a new fan, coming from Michele's list, and I am transfixed!! First of all, I have used that very same logic for my stash collection, and it really does make one feel better. Another good reason for purchasing that much stash at one time is that it is a retirement savings plan. That way when I retire and my spendable income is limited, I can just go to my evergrowing stash heap!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on all of those projects. Come to think of it my walls are a little bare.....
Oooohhh awesome new stash. You got tons of new goodies. I love the Love Birds by Miss Crescent, those are so cute. They're on my wish list too.
ReplyDeleteSue
My dear I am the same way. I live simply too with 5 kids...cross stitch and TKD. That's all I have :-) to do for myself. I HAVE to get the L*K ABC's and the new PS. I just love them. Thanks for sharing the stash.
ReplyDeleteWe have very similar tastes! I want all those Primitive Needle ones--well, actually I want ALL the ones you got, lol. Very nice stash and don't ever feel you have to justify it. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I just love to visit your blog, so much stitchy goodness! Nice collection of new patterns too. I noticed you stitch on a very small count fabric, how do you see it? Do you use a magnifier? Your work does look lovely on the fabric,
ReplyDeletePriscilla x
Wowser what a wonderful stash haul its wonderful - have I told you its wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your first start and finish.
Great idea about the hhhrmmmph the 'Loooooove wall'
I was just sitting here thinking how 'bad' blog surfing is for me - I just placed an order and that was before I got to yours! You've got a GREAT new stash - loved 'em all. we'll be watching for the stitching to commence!!
ReplyDeleteOooooooooh, wonderful stash you've got there! And a pretty kitty, too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can just hear Isaac Hayes' voice. LOL! You said it was corny...well, maybe...but I did our bedroom the same way. :) I call it our "love nest". LOL
Looking forward to progress pictures!

ReplyDeleteRolling on the floor now - guess you not on the stash wagon then.
ReplyDeleteI just came home from my LNS, which is closing, feeling very guilty about my stash indulgence. Then I read your post and felt soooo much better. Your haul beats mine hands down! I love your choices.
ReplyDeleteThe whole idea of the Loooove Room is so cool! Now you've got me craving some Isaac Hayes tunes.

How romantic and lovely it will be! Make sure to take photos and share with us! And like you, I want to start finishing some Samplers and other stitchy pieces for my walls. I just need some stitchy wall art... it will be such comfort! And what beautiful new finishing techniques, Hun! I wish I was as talented as you!
ReplyDeleteAnd Mr Chatty is such a handsome lad! I love your photos of him! :-) You take care, Hun!
Blessings, love and hugs always in stitches...
Good for you Vonna. I say do what makes you happy. You deserve it. :) I love the LK sentiment and if I were still stitching it would be the one I would be doing. Love all the sayings and others should try to live by those as well. She did a great job with that chart. Hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteFabulous new stash! I love your loooooove room pieces!
ReplyDelete
