Hope your weekend is going good....I'm having insomnia tonight so here I am at 2:45 a.m. up for the day....hope I can make it through work today :(
Well on to the stitching. I've been stitching again and sweet Sharon let me know that she received my Autumn Exchange for the Seasonal Exchangers group. I had previously asked Sharon what finish I did that she'd like and tin was one of them. So....here's what I did for her:
Publication: Just Cross Stitch Ornament Preview Issue 2006
Fibers: DMC
Fabric: Sassy's Sugared Coffee, 32 ct. lugana
Finished as: Altoid Tin
You can see some marking pins in there...I find those so useful, so I made Sharon some to match the tin. This time I also "beaded" onto a straight pin a wee little "handle" to open the tin with and glued it into the top. I thought this added a little "bling" to the whole deal and it really does help to get the tin open!
Well I've been lying in bed awake before I got up...for over an hour and I've decided to make a list of my "cross stitch" project goals for 2008...yep, obsessive is my middle name. I've got a lot of "ideas" perculating around so I want to put them on paper.
Thanks for coming to visit! I hope you have a great Sunday and beginning to your week :) And until I post again ~ May you stitch with dancing fingers :)
It is beautifull. Also all the rest of your stitching is beautifull again.
ReplyDeleteThis is really gorgeous! What a lucky girl!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello fellow insomniac. ;) I was up at 1:30, 3:00 and gave up a bit after 5 am. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your tin for Sharon. It's gorgeous. When I'm ready to try the tin finish again, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm going to use your tutorial!!!!
Love the tin you made for Sharon - how lucky is she? How do you make 'marking pins'? Would love to have a go. And a great idea for the bead handle too.
ReplyDeleteI love the "bling" :)
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely finish, Vonna. Congratulations!
Wow, this is so pretty. I love he ideaa of the wee little handle. It gave the whole piece such a special touch.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Vonna. And that gives me an idea for my younger sister. She loves "little" things. I am going to make her one of these tins as part of her Christmas present.
ReplyDeleteVonna... That is exquisite!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, you were up early! If I'd been up since 2 AM, I'd be a royal grouch by lunchtime!
ReplyDeleteThe tin is really pretty. I need to try making one some time. I have a couple tins that my mom gave me and I found some tin patterns online...just need to put the elements together!
I sure hope you make it through work today. Imsomnia sounds awful.
ReplyDeleteThe tin is really pretty, i seen it on Sharon's blog. Your finishing is perfect :)
This little tin box is soooooooooo pretty Vonna!! I love it! You did a fantastic job on it for Sharon. I know that she will love it too!! Hope you make it through today without having slept!!
ReplyDeleteDebby :)
Your tin is simply gorgeous!! I hope you find the energy to make it thru the day:)
ReplyDeleteGreat tin! I love the way you finished it with the beaded pin, so pretty! How do you make those pins anyway? They are too cool.
ReplyDeleteI need to start a list as well, I kind of have... but want to learn to finish in new ways :)
Love the little tin finish. Those PS designs stitch up so nice.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one that had trouble sleeping and then had my mind wonder off on things I need to be doing. LOL
Poor Vonna, I know just what you are talking about 2:30-3:30 is my normal wake-up time. That's when I catch up on some of my blogging, but I daren't stitch that early for fear of making too many mistakes. The tin finish is gorgeous. I love the little handle.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little tin this is and I LOVE the handle :-))
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you suffer from insomnia, I do and feel like I am the only one pacing about in the middle of the night...obviously I am not alone ;-)
This tin is absolutely gorgeous. Those pins are to die for, wherever did you find just great marker pins?
ReplyDeleteIt is so lovely design!Gorgeous exchange!
ReplyDeleteBoth your recent finishes, the box and the ornament for the exchange, look beautiful. They look so pretty and your detail finishing of them looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSue
Your gift is beautiful as always. I may have to try one of those tins one day. First I have to try and eat the Altoids - I find them way too strong. Maybe, I'll just throw them away. I love your marking pins - what a cool idea. I had a set that were attached together and the needle is rusted so now it is pretty but useless!!! You always come up with the neatest ideas. I guess if you stay up all night the creative juices must flow LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty tin! I have alays like these. Love the little handle idea too.
ReplyDeleteI love the tin Vonna! It's perfect - the stitching and the finishing! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Just love that. I'm collecting small patterns lately and that's one I'll have to track down.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tin Vonna!!! LOVE, love, love the 'handle', so clever and it definately adds a little extra pizzazz :)
ReplyDeleteThe little Autumn tin came out great congrats. I am like you if you are going to be awake you may as well make good use of the time. Hope the list came together or put you to sleep either way is a plus. Happy Stitching and Holidays
ReplyDeleteI don't blame Sharon for picking one of your tin finishes, you do such an excellent job with them. The little pin "handle" you made adds a wonderful touch.
ReplyDeleteLucky girl Sharon to receive such a fabulous tin.
ReplyDeleteTake Care!!
Beautiful, Vonna...as usual your handiwork and talents amaze me! And I never knew you could put an altoid tin to such good use! I had to read your tutorial to hear all about it. You are just a "jack of all trades" now aren't you?! Hope your weekend was a good one. See ya' soon.
ReplyDeleteVonna, as usual you've done a beautiful finishing job!
ReplyDeleteYou know this time of year makes me think about what I've achived in the past year and what I want to stitch in the upcoming year.
Another beautiful finish, Vonna! I'm sure you have put an impressive list for 2008! You are amazing :-D
ReplyDeleteOh the little tin is just so sweet and I love your little "bunnies under the tree" ornament. I do wish I was good at finishing but though I can just about make a scissor fob and a pinkeep I would hardly call them well finished.
ReplyDeleteHope you made it through work! I've had a few nights like that myself. The next day isn't too bad. It'll probably hit you more today.
ReplyDeleteThe Autumn tin is gorgeous!! Your work is so beautiful and I love the attention to detail that you put into every project.
Lovely tin you made for Sharon, Vonna - and I like the new twist of the handle!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing about your 2008 goals, but really you need to get your sleep, so no more blogging in the middle of the night :)
Oh wow, Vonna, this tin finish is exquisite:)
ReplyDeleteohhh es hermosooo..
ReplyDeleteYour Tin is just beautiful as usual you finish is exquisite!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Vonna! You outdid yourself, both with the outside and the inside.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tin! I love the little handle too! I've been thinking about my 2008 goals as well, so you're not the only one!
